1. Spent some time over there and learned that Texas is irrelevant.  There's like a dozen pages worth of threads discussing how irrelevant we are.  More than one of the threads I saw were direct calls to the site's owner to create a Horns down emoji just for the purposes of insulting us.  Because we're irrelevant.

I'm not taking anyone's side except to say that tossing 80,000 pennies onto someone's yard is completely immature.

My bad, didn't mean to say that you were taking a side.  I was speaking only for myself.

Bullshit. “Sticks and stones” was taught to school age children.  Gramps didn’t need a safe space. Gramps didn’t whine about name calling.  Gramps wouldn’t have allowed himself to adopt the victimhood mentality that Trump sold to too many weak minded pussies.

I think all of our grandfathers, particularly those of us with WWII veteran Grandfathers, would be embarrassed that this is what has become of all political discourse---namecalling, victimhood, whining, and incessant bitching.

They'd have gathered together and had a big old battle royale and hashed it out as men did back then.

So basically the entire platform of the past President?  Which is why we're having this thread because we can't talk about what we all know to be true?

I won't argue against any of that.  I just saw a post and went off on a tangent, as I am prone to do from time to time.  It's perfectly reasonable to get mad at being called a name and then venting about it.

My gramps sure as shit wouldn't be whining about being called a name on a message board.

Please.  You know damn well your gramps would have been steaming mad about it and, being unable to lay hands on the person who called him that, would most likely have even vented about it to others via available communication mediums of the day.  What he most definitely would NOT have done is go look in a mirror and tell himself, "Oh my god! I am a giant pussy!"

He'd know what we all know: The giant pussy is the person calling people names simply because they know they can do it without getting popped in the mouth.

You are concerned about being called names?

I'll bet if someone had called your grandpa a Nazi he'd have wanted to beat the living shit out of that person if he could get his hands on him.  Would his offense at being called a name rate him as a gaping pussy as well?

The last cab ride I took was the result of our flight being diverted to austin for bad weather. American gave us a voucher to get back to SAT, and we got in what we would later describe as the death cab at 4am.

It was a 10 year old mini van, the bottom plate of the luggage area had corroded out so it sounded like riding a motorcycle, the driver drove 100mph down i35, the shocks had worn out years ago so it felt like it was going to flip over every time he changed lanes, and it smelt like total shit.

The cab ride was scarier than than the wind shear that almost made our plane crash during our attempted landing at SAT.  #fuckcabs

Nearly the exact same experience.  Ancient mini van from far North Dallas down to the convention center for a concert.  The smell was the least of the issues.  This one actually had exposed metal U bar (or whatever you call it) bolted onto the inside of the roof for what I can only assume was added structural integrity.  Saw that shit and reached for the seat belts, which were either not present or stuffed so far down into the seat that I couldn't get to them.  Ended up just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.  I actually remember thinking to myself that this thing was basically an Uber commercial in real time.

Aside from a couple of weeks in Hong Kong where the cab-to-person ratio appeared to be 1 to 1, I've never taken another one.

  9. Surge pricing is absolutely worth having my ride actually show up when I call for it, and for the car not to be a beat-to-hell rattle trap that smells like a dirty ass crack.

And now some of the ride sharing cars are no better than the taxis that they replaced.

No Uber/Lyft I've ridden in comes anywhere even close to the horror of the last cab ride I ever took.  The cab industry fucked itself all on its own.
