Just got back to the hotel from the game.

The horns down thing is worn, tired and boring at this point.  We live rent free in basically everyone's head in Iowa... and everywhere else.

    Hook em!

It’s hilarious. For 3 coaches in a row ISU has built their entire roster with transfers. They were loading up on transfers basically before anyone else in the country was. They lose one guy and they piss their pants crying. Loser school with loser fans, shocker their best player left them

Watching Arizona last night, and watching Ramey airball the final shot, brought back flashbacks of his horrid game vs. ACU that cost Shaka his job.  In that game Ramey was 1-7 FG, 0-3 3PT, 4 TOs.  And we lost by 1.

I really liked Ramey by the time he was done at Texas, but man those early years were hot and cold.

Was talking Hunter vs Ramey yesterday and the ACU game came up. He’s the basketball Keaontay Ingram. A moment or 2 overshadowing an otherwise decent career.

Colgates defensive strategy was absolutely moronic. We may not be an elite three point shooting team but Carr, SJR, Hunter, Morris can all hit some open looks. Their strategy of going under screens and not challenging shooters was incredibly stupid.

We were going to dominate on offense no matter what they did. They aren’t athletic enough to switch on screens and we would’ve killed them in the lane. If we missed open 3s at our normal clip it would’ve been seen as a decent defensive strategy.

  4. Am I crazy for thinking Pierce is keeping LBJ on Tuesday until the A&M game? Would he mortgage the Tech Sunday for a better chance to win that game? It was a lot easier to say "Eh, it's a tuesday game" when he could point back to the Kody regional game and we're going to be in quite the RPI hole without any decent non-conference wins.

Thanks for the responses. I asked because someone with usually very good insights about the machinations inside the AD declared in passing that he was gone after this season. I don't have a strong opinion in favor of or against him, personally. Getting to the CWS isn't something I take for granted as a fan, but it's also not a unique accomplishment for a Texas coach, given Texas has been to it versus missed it in more seasons since the CWS' inception. So, not sure how important that Powers That Be view that part of his resume so far.

In any event, I'll keep watching when I can and rooting for a better season than what it's been looking like so far.

He’s been to Omaha 3x, but each time we’ve laid a massive egg in game 1 which makes it virtually impossible to win it all.

Last year was the best shot to win it all that Pierce will ever have and the team completely turtled going 0-2 including getting demolished by A&M. The stink from that week is still in my nose so maybe it’s in the nose of those in the AD too.

His initial assistant hires were of Herman-level kronyism and retooling this offseason is likely a big reason for the poor start.

All that said, I think Pierce is great at in-game decision making and he’s been able to find good talent from high school (elite recruiting classes past and future), juco, and transfers. His 2 biggest down years were driven by injuries to the most important players on the team. If the biggest complaint is that he hasn’t been all that good in Omaha, he’s been wildly successful up until then. Augie took 5 years to do things like win the Big 12 and make Omaha that Pierce started doing from the get-go.

Hopefully UT is back at Minute Maid in 2024. The crowds this year were tiny compared to last year

Friday night was great and comparable to Tennessee last year. Mizzou was never going to be a draw. Was too hungover to make Sunday this year, but the UCLA crowd last year was bad too. We were top ranked last year vs unranked this year

Looks like we have to get ESPN+ if we want to watch Texas this weekend.  Little preview of things to come in the SEC.

Outside of home games on LHN and a couple games a year on cable, every away game we play is on ESPN+. It's been like this for a few years now.

Based on your posting here your user name seems very appropriate.  You probably my need to get laid.

Plenty of good things happening with this team, 22 handcuffing them for years from the 3rd base box is not one of those things

Against righties that is probably a good idea. Not sure where to slot in Flores/Carlson. I believe Carlson primarily played 3B at Long Beach State so I might be a little hesitant to put him up the middle. Flores played SS in high school maybe we just need to bite the bullet and play him there.

That’s probably the best solution unless they want Flores to be the long term answer there. I went through all the LBSU box scores when we landed Carlson and remember him splitting time between 4, 5, and 6

We need to look at DH’ing Porter Brown moving forward. He’s a liability in the field. I guess we could say that about a lot of guys right now but he’s #1 on my list.

Powell to first, Thomas to right, Campbell to left. And I’ll be shocked if Carlson isn’t starting somewhere up the middle within a month

  11. Gordon definitely passed the test. Dre is the closer. Gullemette had a great debut. Campbell might take awhile to settle into the responsibility of being the best bar in the lineup. Flores and Thomas disappointed, but we’re going to have to deal with growing pains to be where we need to be late in the season. Carlson at short is the only roster change needed for tomorrow, Daly continues to benefit from his 2021 season

Pumped to see what Woody and Pierce throw together on the mound this year. Same with Rodriguez and developing our hitters. Gonna be a fun season. And of course, we'll be firing on all cylinders when it matters most. Let's fuckin do this

Totally agreed. On paper it’s… not great, and the stench of Omaha is still strong is my nose. That said, we finally have a pitching coach, get to see some amazing freshman bats develop, and have the chance to see Witt come back and boost the team’s trajectory
