I'm about to build a whisky shelf/cabinet out of black walnut starting in a few weeks.  I was planning on doing Rubio but have never tried.  Glad it has a ringing endorsement here too

Highly recommend the Pure color on black walnut. It looks amazing. The maintenance oil really gave it a professional looking finish too.

Also, the sanding is really important. Tons of videos out there, but I used multiple grits all the way up to 180 and water popped the grain between each. Maroon pad by hand before the final maintenance oil coat.

  2. We used to be "Business casual" with jeans allowed on friday if you donate a buck. That went away a few years ago and now it's jeans errrry day.
You should be grateful to your executive overlords for allowing you such a generous perk. I know I am.
  3. We absolutely, 100% body-shame females as a country (both men and women do it to girls).  Everybody do you.  Just leave me out of it and absolutely shut the fuck up about body issues in front of my daughters.
I don't know what it's like to be a chubby female.  I imagine it ain't pleasant.  I never talk to my girls about staying thin or looking pretty.  They wash their hair for hygiene purposes.  I let them get nails painted and lip gloss 'n shit at birthday parties/sleepovers.  No revealing clothing or pierced ears, plenty of time for shit like that down the road.  and if they start to get heavy, I don't care other than the health ramifications.  I don't need to start a fucking social media account about it.  Everybody is beautiful except that one weird orange person.  And I guess maybe, Frank Stallone.
Yes, agreed. I have two girls and worry about the body shaming bullshit. Morbidly obese is not okay in my opinion though. That ain't genetics (yes I'm a doctor...no I'm not) and it's a lack of self respect. Teenage girls and everything they have to deal with scare the shit out of me though so not looking forward to that stage.

I'll never forget the day I got a nice unexpected bonus at work only to get a text from my wife that the dashboard on her car lit up like a Christmas tree. Ended up costing me way more than the bonus.

  5. You’re arguing against the point you want me to have made.
You’re arguing against a point you want me to have made, not one I made. Wadlington commented that the SEC/B1G are going to want 8-9 spots in a 12 team playoff. Thats all. The P2 have a lot of, well, power.

And they will get 8-9 spots. So, again, what the fuck is the point of what you posted?

  6. If he refers to me then I don’t know how you got that. I point blank said the SEC/B1G would not get 9. I’d set the over/under at 7.5.
That being said allowing a Liberty level school a permanent spot over their 2-3 loss team is what’s pissing them off. If they go full at large then that problem goes away.
Not you. I still don't understand what the point of Statmans post was. Seems like the BIG and SEC would be content having all the money, all the recruiting, all the prime TV spots, and 75% of the playoff spots.
  7. Why? What makes you think KSU, OSU and KU are positioned to be better than CU, ASU and Arizona in future years?
Arizona State has won six games over the past two years. Arizona had a nice season and then their coach jumped ship. CU has potential, but to this point has been all hype. They draw lots of eyeballs, but were honestly shit last year.
  8. I need a track saw. What's the best reasonable option?

Only took about three months of on-again / off-again work, but finally finished up this outdoor table.  Still need to figure out what we're going to do for benches / chairs, so we're using some cheap ones from Home Depot in the meantime.  I may get roped into building some benches to match the table.  If so, those should be ready in the spring... of 2025.
Construction was pretty easy.  Welded up some 3x3 square tube for the base.  4/4 Teak for the top.  Fastened with dominoes and left a dime gap between the slats for water to drain.  Had to go back and weld some additional supports for the perpendicular middle piece since I couldn't find any Teak longer than 10'.  Turned out nicer than I expected, but the Teak was waaaaay more expensive than I originally thought.

This house looks awesome. More pics?
  9. My daughter has "hot sauce" on her Christmas list.  Any recs on a good gift pack from a particular vendor?  Maybe 3 types?  Nothing too hot, more like table sauce heat (Crystal, Cholula, etc.).  I'm thinking red, green (Dona-ish?) and something a little more exotic (mango-habanero or some such).  Hopefully available either local retail or amazon.  Thoughts?
I'd just get a few varieties of Marie Sharp's. Regular green label, grapefruit, and green nopal would be my choice for not too hot. All of them can be found at Fiesta.

  10. On the additional "boxes," I have an OG Chromecast and am content with it, but I suppose it will stop working before long as they are no longer supported.
So, I guess leg up to Chromecast for familiarity.  Other than Apple TV, should I seriously consider Roku or Firestick?  I am particularly fond of using the casting feature to send music to tv and out to high quality stereo receiver DSP.
Not sure I can really duplicate that with any of the others.
Why not just get one of the newer Chromecasts? We have those on the older TV's without the Google interface pre-installed and love it.
