There is also the whole "Johnny Patron" thing to consider with Nansen. Probably not so relevant anymore, but he also did not have a great track record while coaching LBs at USC (big dropoff after 2017). I guess he turned things around at Arizona.

Thanks - this is what I referred to earlier. My bad @closetojumping

I wonder if this move is really less about money, and more about getting paid to work where his daughter is, and back with his close friend.  (And hopefully, not to go back to drinking with his close friend to creep his daughters’ friends)

I’d love to have the perfect coaching staff, but outside of that, I think continuity is undervalued. We’re going to enter year 4 with the same OC and DC since when?

Also worth mentioning that the OL and DL coaches would also have been the same for 4 years straight. That has not happened since Oscar Giles (does it really count?) and Mac McWhorter.

It absolutely is a technique problem. First technique problem is getting nothing but air off the line when you are trying to jam the receiver. The second technique problem is that when the receiver slows down to catch the ball, that is when you turn your head to look.

Absolutely this. The “turn your head when the WR eyes light up or slows” is taught at least at the HS level.  Not everyone gets it, that’s fair. And perhaps the CFB allowance of face-guarding has altered some coaching styles. But it is taught

I’m also finally done with Gideon or Joseph or both. They have had the same group for nearly three years, and the secondary is consistently lacking. Our best safeties we’re a walkon and true freshman.  They recruit exceptionally but that’s seemingly it.  Take Nansen as Co-DC/LB to give you another great recruiter, and let PK replace Joseph or Gideon.

I miss Blake's. And a Dions pizza with green.

Anyone that thinks hatch is generic chile with a brand name stamped on it has never had a carne adovada with egg on top.

Both of you deserve more rep than I’ll ever have; and seeing as I’ll be back in NM next weekend, Blake’s is definitely on the list!

This would be about as good as UNM could do if there's any chance they could entice him out of retirement.

Wow.  I feel like that’s out kicking UNM’s coverage.   Bronco is solid and deserves to be at a hard-working program that will achieve with underachievers.  UNM football is barely there to pass time until basketball season.

Wouldn't surprise me. He just seems like a logical candidate and has history with PK like Choate did.

I guess another option could be to move the edge position under Bo Davis. Then you hire a LB coach and PK is just DC with no position group assigned to him. But that would require some moving pieces and might be unconventional.

Ikaika Malloe is another former UW associate of PK. Coaches the heck out of the DL and EDGE at UW and UCLA.  Seems able to recruit the west coast and may bring/keep Polynesian ties.  In all honesty, this seemed to be a matter of when for Choate, so Sark and PK likely have their guy ready.  JUST NO FREAKING STOOPS!

  7. Scouring some Boise St boards: seems like their “insiders” feel that the only reason Choate wouldn’t take that job is because he’s offended he wasn’t picked over Avalos a few years ago. But the job seems to be either Choate or the interim guy.

Some there are pining for Kellen Moore….

Hasnt he coached mostly DL and LBs?

    Avalos or Choate?
    Yes.

    Wait wut

Choate coached at Boise St with PK (and Justin Wilcox) before going off to be a HC on his own. Wilcox moved on to Wisc, Tenn, then to Cal. PK went with Petersen to UW.  Aválos mostly came up after this group, under Harsin and was promoted when Harsin went to Auburn.

interestingly enough, Wilcox was Sarks first DC at UW (and prior to Petersen/PK)

The final chapter of Jimbo's documentary has now been written.  Expect "Candi Crushed: The Downfall of Jimbo Fisher" to be hitting theaters in the spring.

Eh, it’ll be streaming on PornHub the same day

  10. My two cents agrees that most of the play-calling was like a scrimmage.  The first 2-3 series were/scripted so that’s where Sark admittedly came out with passing plays (like 5-7 in a row).  Ideally Sark and Co fix the back foot issue - Quinn had that issue last year and also looks different when he plants and follows through.

I feel that the Red-Cat series was a single play that is likely to give Sark and Co film to teach of off and or adjust off of.
