Football fandom and innocence is over. It’s a business. It’s money. It’s mercenaries. It’s about screwing the fan for as much money as possible. The coaches and players couldn’t care less about wins and losses and the schools, except to the extent it impacts a payday. Merry Christmas!

We're all going to blame you directly for failing to be more persuasive.
I’m gonna blame my four year old son for not inspiring the pure innocence of college football fandom in me and others.

Well, they've got literally 7 days to contribute if they want to make a difference in recruiting this season.
I think that’s why I’m frustrated. It’s beyond simple for people to contribute in a big way.

I mean, you could try actually asking them to contribute money. At this point, there are several NIL avenues to do such.
I'm good at making the ask. We'll see on the NIL stuff that currently exists. I've hit at least 7 guys up to contribute. I'm not saying none will contribute, but they're all eager to be part of coaching stuff as a group. But again, I dont even think Sark is firing PK.

This reaping is from so many different angles and eras. It's so overwhelming.
Well put. I just thought our people understood this. Shit, go raise 10 million bucks. That would cover the majority of our past sins in terms of fixing the roster. Maybe I personally have failed on that end, but again I'm a small fry.

Obviously we're in uncharted territory but damn it sure seems like the portal is gonna be wild. I think there will be plenty of upgrades available, if we can land them.
Problem is it isnt hard to upgrade dog shit. We need players that are actually good at football. There just isnt much room for missing on opportunities and Im not seeing how Texas is the spot for high end transfers over teams that are actually doing everything they can to win.

Not sure what else they should be relying on/attempting at this point
Who the staff? They've had dog shit communication with the forms of help they desperately need. NIL and recruiting needs to be running red hot. A big part of that is the $$$ guys being engaged properly. Sark doesnt have to be Mack Brown but he has to actually try hard.

A&M back to being a threat for Harris? Wtf I thought he hated them
He should already be in the class. We were close, then whoosh. The support went away.

There's so much shit that needs to be fixed with this program. I get that Riley just threw a molotov cocktail through OU's window on his way out, but its close to meaningless for Texas because our house is already on fire as well. Two different text threads from yesterday really really rubbed me the wrong way. If everyone celebrating OU's misfortunes in those threads would commit to handling our own business I might feel better. Here's where I think the program sits:
- We had a complete disaster of a season. An utter embarrassment. While we desperately need to be progressing towards our future in the SEC, we arent even going fucking bowling. What a joke.
- Sark bungled the defensive coaching staff, and doesnt look to be making the changes to fix his mistakes.
- We are relying on the portal to fix entire position groups. QB, OL, WR, TE, they're all bad. So bad. DL lacks playmakers. LB unit is a chernobyl level disaster. I don't see any high level guys in the secondary. Whats the real expectation in the portal? How many GOOD players can we find? I'm skeptical.
- Recruiting should be going worse, but that doesn't mean its going particularly well. We are basically hoping for a top 10 finish. That isnt going to cut it when our current roster is this bad. We currently lack top end talent despite plenty of it being willing to play here if we simply meet table stakes.
- The "recruiting preparations" for the SEC are almost nonexistent within our donor base. At this point, I'm not sure we have made up any ground on our future opponents since the SEC announcement.
- There are some upcoming NIL bright spots, but our AD has completely fucked around on this issue. We certainly arent weaponizing the way we should be.
The thing is, things never looked darker during the Eyes stuff. Then we get serious buy in from our donors on the UM stuff (which was awesome). However, he gave us the info we needed when he declined. Based on that info, I really thought there was some alignment towards getting this thing fixed. No, Sark didnt get everyone overly excited. But there is such an obvious need to build anyways for the next guy. I am just not seeing the buy in or the urgency. I think we are years away from competing in the SEC. I am just not seeing us wake up and I think its going to take even more embarrassment before we decide if we even give a shit. Its fucking frustrating. Arkansas, A&M, LSU. They will all want a major piece of us. Our only chance is to fight fire with fire, but that isnt us at all right now.

We were happy to see Carrington leave. Dude can recruit but he fed the fire on the eyes deal. Screw that guy.

The Big 12 needed both Texas and OU to be really relevant.
Not really that Texas needed OU.
Texas isn't the Big 12. We found our landing spot. It was a bad take.

Mike MacDonald has made a huge difference for Michigan. Crazy how quickly the right coach can fix a unit. Right Sark? RIGHT SARK???????

Another reason we can't have nice things on this board. You share this and people attack you because you honor the wishes of the person who shared it with you.
Meh its nbd. The surliness is why I prefer this board over others.

The guy who told Jones that bullshit is the father of a player who will not be on the team next year, both the father and the kid know this. This is a player who has been competing with a player of the opposite race for playing time, especially in the last few games. The father has not historically been a fan of Texas until his kid played here. I will be very happy to see both of them gone from the program. This player has been vocal in the locker room about transferring if he doesnt keep the starting job. Donors had inquired why the guy this player is competing against hasnt been getting a shot, but only in a curious way, not in a "we want this to happen" way. The idea that the inquiry was about race or that race was referenced in conjunction with ANYONE demanding that the coaches make certain personnel decisions is completely ridiculous.
I dont doubt that Brian Jones was told what he reported, but I cannot believe he went public with it like he did considering its the word of a disgruntled parent whose son has had a tough year. If I'm Sark, I'd be done with Jones in a big way.

I bet us moving to the SEC encouraged them to pony up this year.
It did. They get more organized every season too. They’re energized to win a championship and have a ton of people involved. They’re flexing on us now. We’ll see. Things can change quickly.

@closetojumping don’t remember the profs name for when a bunch of my buddies took human sexuality, would’ve been around 2005.
For the class my buddy kept a jackoff log to see what kind of porn makes him go faster. The results were hilarious because he accounted for all these different variables, lotion type, Asian octopi by species etc. Was always disappointed I missed the registration for it but it was super hard to get into by that point.

Yea I’ve heard the commitment rumors for Stewart but I haven’t actually heard what the weight is behind it, if that makes sense. I assumed a&m wanted to be extra safe on prom night so they double bagged it, but wanted to wait before I really became concerned. Now I’m concerned.
-
Sure some others on here are hearing something similar, but I’m officially worried on Stewart. A&M is being very competitive there.

I’m very cautiously optimistic on the O line stuff. Been running traps the last two days. Staff is recruiting well. I’m impressed with how they’re managing this tough season in relation to their pitch to these guys. I believe we are seeing our “new staff bump”.
To be clear, I don’t know of anything to get excited about yet, but I’m certainly not as frustrated as I was this time last week.

Look...
I don't know if Sark is the right head coach or not, but I do know that guys like PK, Bo Davis, Flood, Banks, Choate, and Drayton didn't suddenly forget how to coach overnight. And it's not like these guys are jabronis from mid-majors like the previous HFC's staffs were.
OK, maybe Choate was, but anyway...
There is absolutely no reason for a staff with these skins on the wall to have a team this bad, no matter how much CTJ impotently flails at his keyboard about oh how horrible Sark is. Sark might be mediocre, but he was never this horrible unless, well, unless he inherited a winless team, and he coached at actual major FBS schools like USC and with lesser assistants than he has now.
What makes no sense to me is how otherwise intelligent people can look at the evidence of how our highly-rated classes of the past few years have wased away into nothing more than a bunch of guys too shitty to find decent landing spots through the portal, guys who've never had the same coach more than 2 seasons straight, and expect a winning team.
The only explanation that makes sense is that it's the players, and when I hear stories about Herman deliberately poisoning the well, ... suddenly this assfucking of a season starts to make sense.
Honestly I think Sark fell backwards on top of a wine bottle and is now claiming someone shoved it up his ass. It just happens to sync up that he's able to sell it that way because the players have the 4th quarter fight of a titmouse.

I think they’re clinging on whatever they think they can/hope get. This class ends on a really good note or a bad note with no in between
They're selling early playing time as hard as a staff can. Matters more to some kids than others obviously, but the staff thinks the lineman they brought this weekend were receptive to the pitch.

Downgrade confirmed. Now we need Elko to get hired away and have LSU get Tennessee’d into a hire like BoB.
