Amen got robbed from being selected to the 1st team. Podz over Amen is a fucking joke.

While I agree Thompson continued to get better as the season progressed and has way more upside, the stats comp between the two is really splitting hairs. Podziemski played 12 more games for a slightly better team and got the nod. It doesn’t change anything because we got the better player long term….and really something if his jumper can get to even league average.

Blimpy Burger. This is like going to the White Spot in Charlottesville or Players in Austin. Or it was. Much like Players, the land that Blimpy’s sat on for decades was snapped up by the university for development. Except, after some downtime, Blimpy’s reopened in another part of town with the same grill, most of the same employees, and so on.

Second Krazy Jim’s Blimpie Burger. Just a damn good, classic college burger spot. Bill’s Beer Garden is essentially across the street and is great for a couple of drafts after a burger as well. Would highly recommend this for those looking for a low key Friday night before the game. Sitting on the back porch drinking Oberon or sangria at Dominick’s over by the business school is also a very solid September option.

Slightly weird about the DBack bonanza. Did they just notice that Texas will come into Ann Arbor with a lot of really fast WRs? Or is it tOSU, Oregon, and SC added to the mix too?

Had 3 backups in the rotation transfer after the season and lost a starting safety to an ACL in the spring. Going after a DT seems odd, but the secondary is definitely warranted.

I tried to buy him a Paloma at the hotel bar but his agent wouldn't let me give it to him, so I drank it

Two years from now, the memory will be that you stepped up and drank Abreu’s drink in his face, and he didn’t do shit.

*Although he’s cooked, he does seem like a good dude.

You'll be fine. They don't drop off miles away lol.

You get there early, not 90 minutes before kickoff as I was describing in my initial post. Traffic often gets backed up down State or Main all the way to 94 on Game Days right before the game.

While will they drop you off that far away? If I hired black car service for the day, would that work any differently?

They block off all the streets near the stadium that are essentially the arteries of town. It’ll be in your interest to walk if you want time to soak in the experience. If you get there around 8, it’ll be fairly easy, and you can disregard most of the walking issues.

  7. @immamac Max Goss is the head of the Texas Exes chapter in Michigan. He might be the guy to reach out to if y’all decide to set up a hotel shuttle from Detroit. As you know,  Ann Arbor has shit for hotel rooms on game weekends ($500+ with a 2 night minimum for Days Inn).

Anybody ever made the drive from DTW to Ann Arbor the morning of an 11:00 am kickoff?

25 minutes any time other than Game Day. Time frame will vary greatly depending on what time you’re leaving the airport that Saturday. The golf course will packed by 9 am for that one. Getting there by 8 will get your vehicle on the course, but it’ll be a bit of a wait to get through the gate. If you’re just paratrooping in for the game and land at 10 or so, you’ll be able to get to Ann Arbor in no time as most will get there early, but you’ll have to park 3 miles from the stadium and walk. Even if you take a cab/Uber, you’ll get dropped off a couple of miles away.

I'm not doubting you but curious what you are basing this on? He was a low tier recruit that barely got into a handful of games after they became blowouts. Was he getting a lot of praise from Michigan insiders and practice reports or something?

From the coaches, mostly. He’s been talked up quite a bit as a playmaker in the defensive backfield, and we could sure as hell use that here. Most of the players the coaches have talked up during the last couple of years for Michigan have developed into very good players, and he’s been getting significant praise since he stepped on campus. Think him moving on might be because he’s needed at safety after Rod Moore went down with an ACL, and he wants to play corner. Losing him just fucks corner and safety IMO. Will Johnson has trouble staying healthy.

Dude had 11 tackles and a pass breakup last season. Why would Texas be on this guy? He isn't starting over Mukuba or Williams.

IMO, any DB Texas takes henceforth will be a true CB.

Michigan fans were surprised to see him leave.  He was competing for CB2 spot this spring and may now be heading to Kentucky to start.  6'3" CB with long arms sounds appealing to me.

He’s young, but the kid can play. As a Michigan fan, it sucks to see him go. Would definitely like it if Texas was in the mix here.

Think one thing that works in his favor is that he only started playing DB as a Junior. IIRC he was projected to be a mid Day 3 selection last year, so coming back to up his draft stock to mid/high 2nd round was definitely the right move. I love the way the guy plays, though I’d be happy with Tampa/Rakestraw as well…

He (Sainristil) was also a team captain…and the biggest playmaker on that list.
