Evie Mae’s was a damn nice detour. Brisket was excellent, and I’m looking forward to eating a piece of sheet cake when I get to my destination. Don’t want to eat that much sugar and be stuck in the middle of nowhere without a convenient restroom.

Going to be driving through Lubbock around 11 on Sunday. Can any locals give me an idea about the line at Evie Mae’s? Don’t want to spend too damn long in line, but it would break up my drive a bit if it’s not too bad. Appreciate any insight.

3) Rather than thinking through the 5 star and high 4 star impacts, going the opposite route and looking at a few teams and their classes over a 5 year period and seeing how many guys ranked outside of the top 250 nationally played key roles on their team, and how those teams performed. Maybe there are some interesting indicators there that would help thinking about intangibles like evaluation, development, luck and such differently. Maybe it's all noise. That's why it intrigues me.
I've got some time right now and many of the stupid tangents that all of the threads are taking have bored me, so I'm pondering topics that might be interesting to me and some of you non-idiots posting here.
Michigan would make a great subject for this topic. Their last Top 5 class was 2017, but I feel like most of the top of that class flamed out, and the lower ranked guys formed the backbone of the last couple of years. Classes have been ranked between 10-20 since, but the results were significantly better than Harbaugh’s early tenure when he seemed to be star chasing.

Ian Boyd: What does Tiaoalii Savea bring to the Texas defense?
I’m not reading all of that. What position does he want to switch him to?

I saw the Drive-By Quippers in concert. It was a bit exasperating because each song was less than 30 seconds long.
I feel sorry for their groupies.

Also, sorry for the spam, but interesting to note that Kelshaun retweeted Gerry's prediction of him.
Also, apparently he works with Willie Lyles. Didn't we typically used to avoid athletes of his?Johnson’s already 18? Spec’s can’t hire minors.

I’ll just say it - God damn it, Chris. It was all right fucking there….and I understand why Coach Terry got the job and don’t fault the administration given the circumstances, but I was definitely one of the many saying it wasn’t going to work. Coach Terry appears by all accounts to be a good man, but he’s a mediocre basketball coach.

There’s not a lot to yearn for from Michigan outside of Graham, Johnson and maybe one other remaining starter on their defense. Those first two guys, should they portal, will go for prices above rubies, for sure.
I think Michigan loses damned near the entire offense. They don’t recruit at an extremely high level and the backups may or may not be something above UT’s current level of replacement value in terms of backups on the depth chart.
I agree that now there is actually merit in talking about McMillon and the portal, but, geez, pigs get fed and hogs get slaughtered. That would legitimately shake everything up on the WR end.
Niblack is another where, Texas might kind of need a discount to get him. NIL fatigue at this point could be a big deal.
Add Kenneth Grant and Colstan Loveland to this list if you’re looking for players that would make a major impact on the Texas two deep. Don't think any of them will leave, but all four of those are high end players (Day 2 picks at worst). Rayshaun Benny is another DT worth taking, but he’s a Michigan kid and even less likely to leave than the others.

Penix has done a great job evading the rush and also he is dropping dimes. Watts was right there on both passes he got beat on, same with Muhammad. We just aren't finishing on defense but it's because Penix has been on fucking point. Hopefully he cools off in the second half.

The illegal block call against Watts was a first for me, and I’ve been watching this sport for more than 30 years. It may not have been hugely consequential but the fact that it happened at all has to make you wonder.
Fairly new rule (only 1 or 2 years?). Not surprised you haven’t seen it called (not a shot at you). Seemed more like he got crumpled than went for the guy’s legs though.
