  1. Ate at Killen’s off Washington/Heights this week for the first time ages.

jalapeño cheese sausage, burnt ends and creamed corn were my favorites. Mac and cheese was solid as was turkey and brisket.

  2. I see where it’s A&M at 12th in the conference now with series at home vs LSU on the road @UGA and then Missouri.

Assuming they sweep Mizzou and don’t lose the midweek games, what are the odds they miss the playoffs altogether? Do they need to win both of those series or 1/2? Just not get swept?

  3. If they're in need of a novice groundskeeper I'm available to show up and unevenly sprinkle some pre-emergent by hand and then eat lunch after without washing my hands.

In any event, its precipitous timing that Texas baseball be on the way up again. My 10 year old was starting to get a little too interested in aggie baseball with his friends.

For sure. Saturday appears to be a complete thunderstorm wash bookended by good weather on F/Sun. My only concern would be outfield conditions on Sunday, especially since it’s grass/dirt, but I would have to assume there’s a pretty good process in place given this is common in the SEC and it’s only projected to be an inch of rain.

I know baseball but I don’t know much about baseball groundskeeping. Anyone here have more insight?

Just add a french drain in centerfield.

Always blows my mind to see kids from Little Elm dotting the landscape of college football.

When I got out of school, I met a spicy little ginger (total cliché—gorgeous, adventurous, boundless energy, voracious sexual appetite, and absolutely batshit crazy) who lived there. I had never heard of it before. Creeped me the fuck out the first time I went to her place—the town itself was in the very early stages of growth and there was little else out there besides the post office (maybe a Mexican restaurant?)—she lived in what I would call the fucking sticks, at the end of long, unpaved road with very poor lighting. I remember thinking it would be the perfect place to ambush some dumbass and rob him blind…I also remember thinking I didn’t really give a shit because the risk was well worth the reward. Turned out the remote location was rather fortuitous—she was loud. Outside of a stunning beauty (also ginger) I met in Ibiza some years later, she’s still the most physically attractive woman I’ve been with…total basket case, unfortunately. Most exhausting seven months, good and bad, I’ve ever spent. With enough crazy ass stories to last a lifetime.

Anyway, I still think of Little Elm as the same dark, scary forest inhabited by that single crazed succubus who rocked my world back in the day, and I keep having to remind myself that it has actually exploded into a series of indistinguishable MPCs since then. I’m pretty sure that entire area where she lived is fully developed now. I’m also pretty sure that OU still fucking sucks despite this solid new addition.

There are rules around here my guy.

Going against Jacobs this week. Good start.

Yea played against Goff and Jacob’s this week. During the first quarter I was golden, then they pounded my asshole for 3 quarters.

I think there are a lot of bettors looking at our tendency to play close-ish games against teams perceived to not be as good as aggy, plus the myth that they are difficult to beat at Kyle Field.

I have a rule about not betting on Texas games, because I can't be objective.

But, if I did bet on Texas games, I would put a lot of money on us to cover that line.  I think there's very little chance they get within 10 points today.

I’ve been watching the line all week. It only dropped a point this morning after the brief gameday segment on Ewers ankle. That’s purely movement based on people coming in hot thinking Ewers won’t finish the game.

Who is “they”?  The court has already ruled against the NCAA trying to limit it.  You think Congress is going to be taking this up?

I don’t understand all the ins and outs like some of you do on this subject, I can just tell you that at a high level current prospective athlete being recruited by multiple top p5 programs across the country is being told from multiple programs, that a capped amount the school can give is coming. And this isn’t even their biggest concern, the bigger issue is the title IX lawsuits they’re preparing for when women’s volleyball gets 1/20th what the football team gets.

You’re confusing the House settlement (schools paying players directly) with third-party NIL money. Schools will have a cap on what they can pay to players, but not third parties. Currently, there’s no legal way to put a cap on NIL from third parties. It would require a player’s union and a CBA, but even then I wouldn’t expect a cap on what a player can earn through NIL because that would mean th schools would pay to buy up all their NIL rights (in addition to the currently expected $22 million annual number for House) . There’s not a single sport in the world that has something like that.

Yea you’re right. I guess I expect that just about all NIL money/collective money is currently coming in is from people that would be eventually funding the schools NIL. So then there won’t be the currently existing third party money out there. Sure there are going to be some 5 star dudes with a deal with Dr Pepper etc., but it’s not like Larry Ellison is going to put Bryce Underwood on a $12M advertising salary for Oracle because that’s not realistic and it won’t pass the sniff test.

If Larry Ellison really decides to get behind Michigan, Ohio State should be very, very afraid.  There's rich and then there's Larry Ellison ---- 225 BILLION dollars ---- rich.

At least until they put an annual cap on NIL. I’m guessing that happens sooner rather than later and it ends up in the $20m range. Not saying I necessarily agree with that, but there’s a pretty good chance it’s coming.

  11. What's even the point of the extra speakers? Are those going to be sitting on the sideline behind our team directed at our bench? If they're pointing towards the crowd then who gives a shit; I'd love to understand the placement of those.

And i believe the rule is that you can't pump in artificial noise while the team is lining up preparing to snap the ball on offense. This is the only thing in the rules I could find quickly and I'm not sure this is even accurate:

"Artificial crowd noise, by conference policy or mutual consent of the institutions, is allowed. The noise level must be consistent throughout the game for both teams. However, all current rules remain in effect dealing with bands, music and other sounds. When the snap is imminent, the band/music must stop playing. As with all administrative rules, the referee may stop the game and direct game management to adjust."

Are you in an 8-team league where DeVonta isn’t an auto-start?

12 team league actually. I just didn’t have faith in Devonta this week against the cowboys. Proven right as it turns out.

That said I went with him and still ended up being right since Nico didn’t play.
