  1. The secret Lubys

They have several varieties of square fish - almond crusted, baked, blackened, and fried with little prepackaged containers of sauces of tartare or red. Their boiled greens and jalapeño corn bread are quite legit for this southern boy.

  2. You want your premium to go up over a tree?

I’ve seen The City of Austin charge $1000 per inch diameter for damaged trees. Our tree is about 24 inches in diameter. I’m not suggesting that our tree is worth $24,000 but it’s worth looking into. My mom said she wasn’t giving you a $1,000 per inch but if she did, you’d get ‘bout tree fiddy.
  3. The book is about a simplified particle theory where all particles can be accounted for as combinations of a single particle as described by 4 solutions to an extended Dirac equation.

Sounds like most of Tom Robins’ books
  4. We had to repaint the exterior of our house a few years ago and I decided to pay the painter a couple of hundred dollars extra to remove them rather than repairing them. I had been bad about cleaning them and as a result they were causing to wood rot. I felt that they were causing more harm than good. It looks a lot nicer without them too. We do have some erosion at the drip line now, but overall no regrets.

  5. I believe those are Bear Trap crest gates where valves are used to control the filling or emptying of a chamber which is utilized to raise or lower the gate utilizing hydrostatic pressure.
Typically there is a pin system along the top which has to be removed to allow the gate to collapse in the down position. That isn't what happened here.
It looks like the upstream bearings gave out and the whole gate rotated and flipped. You can see the upstream gate leaf break loose and float downstream. The downstream leaf looks like it remained hinged and submerged causing the noticeable turbulence.
