  1. Because he quite literally has them by the balls. If it comes out he turned them down, A&M is on their 3rd choice at best. Can they handle the public humiliation?
  2. This right here. You want to keep the guy that probably has texts and emails implicating god knows who in the coaching staff and/or AD happy. Especially if he was directed by said individuals to share information with other teams. You don't fire that guy until you are certain he's been made the happiest Wolverine fan he can be.
  3. I'm simply saying that look at TCU. They won absolutely nothing this year. But you know why they're doing so well? They won a playoff game. Years ago we were outraged McCaffrey sat out a bowl game. Why would players, coaches, administrators, or even fans at a certain point care about an outdated Seeding game?
  4. That's exactly what I'm saying. If you're in the playoff, you're going to make every step to make sure you win. Fans used to love Bowl Games, but they're just an audition for everyone not going pro now. This idea that conference championships matter is a remnant. Look at TCU this year. How many folk outside hard-core fans care that they won absolute butkis? They got to the game. Conference champion was...Baylor? Maybe?
  5. Dunno. To me it seems that winning the playoff is the #1 priority. While I get winning the conference championship is a big deal right now, I don't know if that'll be the case in a few years. I get seeding and home field advantage, but is the SEC seeded #1 playing against the #12 at large (probably SEC or Big 10) any different than being the SEC #7 playing at a g5 seeded #7 if winning the whole thing is your objective?
  6. Say you're the clear #1 going into the SEC Championship game. Been throttling everyone all year long, NC is all but inevitable. Then in the 4th quarter in a close game, your star QB gets his knee blown out, done for the playoffs. You're still going to the playoffs, but now with almost no chance to win. Is the fanbase happy?
  7. Sure, but wouldn't it make more sense to rest your starters for the more meaningful games ahead? I get Seeding and whatnot, but playing as a 1- 4 seed shouldn't be much of a difference, compared to risking injury.
  8. Quick question that I'm sure has been answered somewhere in the past 500 or so pages. What exactly is the point of an SEC or Big 10 Conference Championship game in a 12 team playoff era? Unless something catastrophic has happened, all four teams in those games should be already qualified to be in the playoff, regardless of the outcome. Is there any incentive (other than pride) in playing your starters in that game?
  9. Apple TV is just such a terrible idea for CFB. As far as I know, streaming services can't legally be shown in bars. So the only people who are going to watch your games are the people at home that actively seek them out and pay for them.
  10. The man has to take a shit at some point. And we have smart phones now, no more reading the Lysol bottle.
  11. I mean, it doesn't really matter. We're the same distance from Austin to DFW. Playing in Waco, College Station, or Lubbock hasn't really improved our recruiting presence in Texas to any significant degree since we were in the Big 8, and only occasionally played in Texas other than Dallas. I'd rather play Arkansas in the first place, because A&M is weird and the less we have to do with them the better. Every other year in College Station doesn't really put Oklahoma in any better spot than playing there every 4 years.
  12. Hell look at the Big 12 when it was created. The North was the toughest division in football. Nebraska was at their peak, Colorado was 6 years removed from a national title, and K State was a legit contender. The South was a mess, OU was at their lowest point in history, Texas was floundering, Tech was pre Leach, OSU was somehow still worse than OU, Baylor was Baylor. A&M was the only competitive team in the bunch. Things change.
  13. I don't care who we get. We've got "history" with Missouri in the same way we have history with Kansas, Iowa State, et al. Nobody cares. I'd love to have Arkansas, simply because proximity and all of the bullshit the hogs have flung at OU in the past. But suddenly, they're too busy? Worse case for everyone is we get the dregs and end up with two guaranteed wins every year.
  14. OSU is too busy to play us. If we're going to have an annual out of conference, Nebraska is the way to go. Network ratings bear this out.
  15. On the curses of Cain and Ham, Brigham Young stated, "What is the mark? You will see it on the countenance of every African you ever did see...." Hope you get your own planet one day, though. That sounds dope.
  16. Another thing is how many bars are going to be showing PAC games on Amazon. Lord knows most waitresses and bartenders have a hard enough time figuring out which channel a network is on as is. And that's just with cable. Throw in trying to figure out how to switch inputs is going to cause serious problems in the food and beverage industry.
  17. Granted, my knowledge of Criminal Courts is mainly from Law and Order, but won't the prosecutor lay out exactly what (allegedly) happened to the judge in a bail hearing? And shouldn't that be in a few hours? Assuming you can't just bail out of felony charges.
  18. Nobody is doing that. We left, asked if y'all wanted to keep playing, y'all said you were fine with the Murray State Racers instead, we said OK and that's pretty much that. I don't see where the animosity is coming from.
  19. Like I said, I don't really care about the blame. There's rumblings of us and Nebraska getting an annual game during SEC Rivalry Week (whatever that is), a game that last week drew 3.5 million viewers (2nd most watched game) as a blowout. I think the Network Overlords at ESPN and Fox would like to both have a piece of that. Am I sad that it's ending? Sure. The game was typically a lot of fun and the week of and the Monday after are a blast. And I imagine that whatever the CFB landscape looks like after the ACC GOR is over, we'll be playing annually again as well.
  20. OSU is just being pissy about it. Which is fine, except I have no idea how they are going to sell season tickets now that they aren't the only way to get an OU ticket.
  21. Yeah, get San Diego State in with Baylor. Rapetastic conference, right there.
  22. Riley's Big California Haul of three 5 star receivers turned out to be a wash out, an armed robber, and a guy that can't stay healthy. I much prefer going after defensive talent in SEC land over the California kids.
  23. Believe it or not, we weren't exactly thrilled to replace Nebraska, A&M, and Colorado with TCU and West Virginia. Aside from OSU, the only marquis conference game we had left was Texas, which obviously is not a home game. Playing home and homes against Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, etc. left a gaping hole in the away side of those seasons. Added to the fact that being in a conference considered "lesser" was appalling. Losing recruits that simply preferred to be in the SEC year in and year out was getting old. I'm honestly surprised that it took as long as it did to make the move.
  24. The major factor of the Big 12 falling apart was the abject failure of the Big 12 North after 2002. Winners get eyeballs, wins out almost as much as pussy. Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas State nosedived from Must Watch National games every week to just their core fan bases. You cant tell me that a Big 12 with Nebraska, KSU, and CU at the same level that OU, UT, A&M, Tech, and OSU were pulling wouldn't be the by far premiere conference in the country. Every team has it's floor. Texas, A&M, Ohio State, and maybe Michigan have the highest. Everyone else has to win to get eyeballs to stay off the floor. Nobody was watching Alabama in the early 2000s.
