UT really is missing the boat here on this.  With such an excellent business school, I am certain they could assign a few students to map out a plan for each player as part of a project.

This is a great idea, and I’ll do my best to raise it with the the McCombs admin / coordinators.  There is already a precedent for similar programs where students get credit to provide consulting and other services to businesses and start up projects, such as Texas Venture Labs, Venture Fellows, etc.  It’s a win win for everyone.

Only hiccup might be getting through compliance whether or not these services constitute payments, but I’m not knowledgeable enough to make a call there.

Also, reminder that A&M played only four road games this year, and their out of conference slate included 4-8 Colorado, Kent State, New Mexico, and Prairie View A&M

A&M boards were bullish on winning 10+ regular season games on the back of an easy schedule while returning basically everyone but their QB and four OL. That didn't happen.

How dare you not give them credit for going on the road to the hostile environment of Arlington, TX to play Arkansas?  Typical sip spin

It's truly ridiculous we have not already raised $5K for Worthy.  It should be a $10K target anyway IMO

Is this different from the general slush fund?

Whoever makes NIL contributions simple, easy and not sketchy is going to win.  Why does Amazon and Walmart have the “Buy Now” button?  Because it makes people spend more. Why does Google care so much about speed?  Because the longer pages take to load, the less likely people will sit around and keep clicking.  Why haven’t you opened limewire in over a decade?  Because streaming content legally has never been easier or safer.

I am simply regurgitating points that others have made more eloquently, but I don’t think the power of crowdfunding has been taken as seriously as it should.

Hopefully NIL takes it to the player getting the cash instead of his "uncle" getting the cash. Also... $100k vs nothing is easy choice... $100k vs $125k becomes less clear. And finally at some point if enough NIL money is out there the bar for bags to raise to compete each year becomes large to the point they spend more time figuring out NIL then they do bags just from logistical practicality standpoint.

I don’t know what would be more realistic: (a) trying to court Mickey Joseph after giving his relative Terry the boot or (b) Evan Stewart’s entourage putting together a DCF model to compare bags versus NIL funds.

  5. My ND friends have mixed feelings on Kelly.  In terms of impact on UT, it does seem like the least worse option compared to Cristobal, Riley or Rhule.

That said, I will never forget a bizarre Kelly story from the final Charlie Strong year.  During ND practice, the staff had set up one of the pieces of equipment—that padded alley where the running back pushes through several dummy pads—backwards. Meaning that the running back was essentially running into an immovable padded door.

A walk on running back recognized it was backwards and tried to tell Kelly.  Kelly, shocked at the audacity of his player to question him, shut the player down and said something along the lines of “it’s not, shut the fuck up and do the drill.”  Running back proceeded to try it at a full sprint, bounced off the equipment and ended up in concussion protocol.

I hope he brings that kind of attitude to the SEC.

Stop giving these shitheads the benefit of the doubt when there's nothing to merit it.

I’d like to think his unit’s performance at UW merits some optimism, but we (and the league in general) does not have a great track record when it comes to expecting an older coach with a previously successful scheme to actively self critique, acknowledge failings and weakness of their approach, and appropriately tailor his gameplan and scheme to fit the strengths of his personnel rather than continue push a square peg into a star-shaped hole.

And don’t some of Franklin former pitmasters now work at La Barbecue and Goldees?

Not sure about the current pit master, but you might be thinking of John Lewis, who was the pit master at La BBQ when it first opened.  He moved to South Carolina in 2018 and now has the top rated bbq joint in that state.

Just further evidence that all those people that won’t stop crowing about how “Carolina cue” is so special and unique are full of it.  Central Texas came, saw, and conquered.

The NCAA approved 7 additional spots, as long as they're replacing transfers.

We can actually get to 32 (or 34 if you count the kicker and long snapper as PWOs).

Has anyone seen anything definitive on whether transfers from this spring/summer count towards this cycle’s spots?  I.e., will Craig Naivar’s merry band of USC misfits help pad our numbers?

Why the fuck does he keep jerking his leg up

I actually met that kid’s father at a wedding recently.  A living breathing insufferable stereotype: drives a maroon F-150, refused to be in the same room with the groom’s uncle until he took off his UT law hat.  Bragged that he told his kids he wouldn’t pay for their college unless they went to A&M.

Poor kid was doomed from the start, but it doesn’t look like the apple fell far from the tree.

The center going out made two positions worse at once, while making them worse at protection calls. Their YPP dipped after the injury. Gary claims he should be fine, but we'll see.

That’s a lot of conditional language.  If they’re back, it might be because GP is rushing them out to help cool his seat and because he hates Texas.  Not because they are fully 100%.

The previous staff got murdered by scouts to daddy brock. It's the opposite for Sark and Flood. Just saying.

Marrone is arguably one of the top OL coaches in the country with Flood now that Bloomgren and Cristobal are head coaches.

That being said, it must be a rude awakening to have your position coach leave and be replaced by a mercenary that won’t let you sniff the two deep.

Wrong.  We screw YOUR cousins (the female ones...we leave the others for you and Aggie to fight over), your girlfriends and wives.

This generation of Horns has no idea what they are heading into this weekend.  Former Horn Coach Darrell Royal said it best more than 50 years ago: "When those cheerleaders go on the field and they Call the Hogs, that "Wooooooo Pig Soouiee" comes from all over the place."  And then he mentioned what long-time assistant Mike Campbell had said about playing in the Ozarks.  "Playing at Arkansas is like parachuting into Russia".

Another thing that's not like the old days; we routinely play several games a year against teams better than Texas - and that's no trash talking...it's a fact.  And you and Sooner boys will soon find that out for yourselves.  Consider this weekend your "SEC Entrance Exam" and prepare to fail it.

There is certainly a lot of insecurity to unpack in this post, but it is sad to see that the Oxford comma has not made its way down to Arkansas yet.
