I mean there was very real concern on here by some that Herman might save his job with a late season win....After all according to those in the know he was lined up to be fired in 2019 when he beat Tech and that was apparently enough for him to save his job for another season.....I would have much rather we fired Herman before Tech then wallowed through that next season with him.

Who would have been the hire then?

Spoke to my BIL on Tyanthony Smith.  He has zero info about the recruitment.  But he loves Smith.  Says he is a great athlete with outstanding character.

And yet he is committed to aggy. I think you misspelled questionable

He can easily improve his character though.

  3. I just don't see Traylor. He won't bring any portal players or major recruits with him and it will take 2-3 years at least for him to fix all the problems and get that thing turned around.

So yeah, it'll probably be Traylor.

  4. Can't see Traylor because he can't bring enough portal guys and recruits with him to stop the roster bleeding that's about to happen. They will need a major college coach who can bring some players/recruits with him. It'll be the University of Kansas-College Station or something.

  5. In the huddle: "Come on guys, we've got to score here to increase my jersey sales and improve the value of my team ownership shares."

Offensive line after the play: "Ooops, missed him. Sorry for the sack. Hey, that looks like it hurt."

  6. The last Civil War widow died in 2020. When she was 21 she married a vet who was 88.

The last person to receive a Civil War pension also died in 2020. She was the daughter of a guy who fought for the Confederacy at first and then went over to the Union side. He deserted from the Confederacy just before Gettysburg where 734 of the 800 men in his regiment died. Her mom was 34 when she was born and her dad was 83. At the time of her death, she was collecting a pension of $73.13 a month.

I’m sorry, but was it known that these idiots were still running a bonfire each year? I had no idea and it blows my mind.

Jesus. I just looked at some of this stuff. They will kill people again, either on the cuts or the stack. And why they insist on stacking the logs vertically is beyond me. It's all just so, so stupid--to the point of not being funny but more along the lines of horrific. The whole thing makes me queasy.

Get $55M up front, give up ~$20M to not have to spend the next ~7 years in college station or near another aggie? sign me the fuck up.

But he doesn't have to spend all that time in CS. He can figurehead it and drop in for press briefings and games while leaving the coaching and recruiting to subordinates. Five days of the week he's on a boat somewhere. What are they gonna do? Fire him?

Hell, he'd probably have a better record if he did that.

  9. Because I have PTSD from the previous 13 years, part of me is looking at this like it's house money. We're bowl eligible and every win from here on out just means a better bowl. I mean, we know for sure that our team is going to get those desperately needed extra bowl practices. Hallelujah!

The other part of me will be really pissed if we don't win the conference and play for the national title.

  10. Texas is 13th in the country for points allowed this season, with 128 total. Five of the teams ahead of us play in the B1G, including the top three. We're giving up right at 16 points per game, which puts us at #15 in the country. We're holding opponents to 97.9 yards rushing per game, also good for #15 in the country. We are #36 in total takeaways with 13, but that ranking is skewed by a bunch (and I mean a bunch) of little schools like Troy, UAB, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, and Bowling Green. Among top tier schools, we'd be #10-12 and not far off the top five.

On the other hand, we are 69th in the country for passing yards allowed per game at 230.1. That puts our yards per game ranking at #27 with a 328 yard average.

So, it seems the basic stats align with the anecdotal evidence and our eye tests: we need to improve in the secondary. Now, I'm fully willing to accept the argument that PK designs the defense with the primary goal of stopping the run, forcing short passes, and making the other team execute to perfection to sustain drives. However, that strategy is not fully supported by the play in our secondary. Still, there has been dramatic improvement from what was inherited and I think PK is a damn good coach. Whenever Gideon or Joseph leave, I expect PK to be the deciding voice for the new hire.
