Installed some new feeder pens this weekend. I introduce you to the “ManSaver” - quite possibly the greatest poor man invention known for driving T posts. It feels like cheating and I love it! (Too bad this thing wasn’t around when I was 18 and spent a whole f’ing summer constructing a horse pen:)

Ski Season 2020/2021
Agreed. There isnt' really any sub par anything in Switzerland;) Ive never even seen a junky house or car while traveling there. I have visited Zermatt, Saas Fe and LAAX. In my experience, Euro skiing is much different than North American skiing in that Euro skiing is more like ski touring as you can ski to and from adjacent towns so there is alot of horizontal skiing rather than the up and down of North America ski resorts. In LAAX, our Swiss friends would plan our day by picking out which restaurants and bars we would be skiing to that day like planning a road trip! Euros love their Carving! Our swiss friends would freak out when I would ski off into some ungroomed moguls or powder off piste:) Euro skiing is a really great experience for the culture and amenities but after skiing there and in South America, I still contend the best snow, best consistent conditions, and terrain, and tree skiing in the world is in the NW and Western North America - you really cant beat what we have in the states....Japan is still on my bucket list. Photos below are from LAAX:

Yellowstone
I highly recommend Brushbuck for a guided tour: https://brushbucktours.com/ They have customized mercedes sprinter vans in a small group of 6-8 people with large windows and the guides know where the wildlife is. They took us to several spots outside of YNP on the drive from Jackson Hole to see Moose and antelope. It is a very efficient way to cover the highlights of YNP if you are not familiar with it. The guides can park up front at all tourist areas, they know all the interesting history and tidbits, they have spotting scopes for your use, and we amazingly saw a wolf which is not very common and I am sure we would never have seen one without our guide.

Ascona - Highly recommend Ristorante Seven Ascona on the boardwalk of Lake Maggiore. A Michelin guide pick. Had a really nice meal there almost a decade ago so nothing current but the view of the lake was as good as the food. Super creative menu.

Ski Season 2020/2021
I have skied more double blacks in my 40's and 50's than I ever did in my 20's and 30's....I am actually a much better skier in my 50's than at any age - mostly because I have the time/mountain home and funds to ski more than when I was younger. Both my kids are fortunate I afforded them the ski life since they were 3 yrs old and both are very advanced skiers that can ski anything most mountains can offer so they keep me young trying to keep up with them. That being said, I have severely snapped/torn both right and left calf muscles in almost back to back years that occurred 3 years ago. Both injuries were in double blacks and both were tight tree runs. I have fully recovered both calves and I now am back to skiing double blacks but I have limited the tight tree runs and when I do ski them I slow way down and don't try to "rip" them like I used to...Getting old sucks but damn I love to ski so much it is worth the risk and pain that comes with it...I sometimes ski with a guy that is 76 years old and can "rip". He is my hero....I hope to still be making meaningful turns when I am in my 70's.... This! I don't try to slug it out anymore on the double blacks when conditions are not perfect - too old for that. But, when the powder and coverage is there, I will dive in for a taste every now and then.

Off Grid Alaska
A bush pilot we had in Alaska who takes private groups to watch Grizzlies told us that when you hear a griz "click" his jaw it is usually the last thing they do before they charge. It apparently is their last expression of agitation before they act.....I hope I never hear that sound....

RD those are cool!- 2021-2022 hunting thread
I agree we have been killing and watching hogs on our place for a few years. Tonight we shot these 3 rascals and before we weighed them I guessed the largest was atleast. 275...WRONG! These weighed in at 220lb, 212lb and 168lbs. The 212 lb was almost 6 feet long when strung up! A 300 lb is Def a freak!!!- 2021-2022 hunting thread
