  1. “Libs” is trumpkin shorthand code for elite city dwelling fellow whites who have betrayed their own race by selling the white middle and lower class out to big corporations, banks and for the affirmative action of other races that used to know their place and didn’t participate in the building of this great country.
While not ideal this situation was at least somewhat tolerable until the Great Recession came along and wiped everyone out except the “Libs” who had access to the only life boats. Since then the biggest beneficiaries of the economy have been, you guessed it, big business, banks and the Uber wealthy city dwelling libs
Then to rub salt in the wound a black man somehow gets elected president by the libs. Twice.
Then along comes Russian backed con man trump who to them is the only one who has promised to rectify the madness described above. Of course he’s lying his ass off and doesn’t give a shit about anyone but himself and maybe his kids,  but hope springs eternal.
While misguided, the trumpkins aren’t 100 percent wrong. Both parties at different times have rightly tried to advance the station of minorities (a good thing) while both parties at the same time going back to the 80s have screwed the white working class at the expense of big business and banks (not a good thing).
Trump uses fear to motivate his followers. The dems hopefully see that and will counter accordingly.

One party is against voter suppression and unlimited money in elections. The other stacks courts with corporatists and religious wackos.

The racists from one party has moved to the other party. Those racists have never done anything for minorities.

Dems are not perfect, neither is democracy. Take that both parties nonsense back to the Russia active measures campaign.

  2. The Trump administration is Lewinsky + Watergate + Benedict Arnold + Al Capone + Benny Hill + Berlin 1945 + the fall of Rome (etc). It's the most corrupt, idiotic and licentious thing ever to happen to the American political experiment. You don't need any more data whatsoever to draw this conclusion. What you'll learn next will be degrees of overkill.
The man should be impeached, imprisoned, sued, tarred & feathered. Any maybe beheaded.
If you defend this fuckbag asshat shitclown presidency to any degree, you're gonna get burned.

I said speak your mind Jack, but Jesus!

Asked by George Stephanopoulos on ABC's "This Week" if Michael Cohen paid other women on behalf of Trump, Giuliani said, "I have no knowledge of that, but I would think if it was necessary, yes."

Dude is talking about pay-offs like it’s botox treatment. Republicans can no longer be blackmailed. Scandal will no longer be a word soon. It’ll be like the word, Cockalorum.
  4. So disappointing—a whole evening in London and not a single stabbing. And don’t think there weren’t people worth stabbing. Like that fat fuck in the Chelsea jersey. Or the hot brunette in the leather skirt—I’d like to have stabbed her. In her butt. With my dick.

Knives arent the issue. Its broadswords, sabers and daggers. You know what stops a mad Scot with a claymore? A good guy with a Honjo.
  5. that last sentence is a fair point. i dunno, for me, the whole thing is about cameron's lack of self-worth and self-esteem. he's home sick because he's depressed, and ferris skips to try and cheer up his depressed friend and pull him out of his shell. ferris is a device, and yes, the shit is over the top and there's no way they could have done all that stuff in a day, but, as you rightly point out, fuck it, it was the 80s.
the scene with the car going out the window i always felt was over the top. i always thought it would be more realistic for him to have to fess up to the mileage, not to the death of the car. that, the father could deal with, i think. but the car being destroyed? meh.
however, the whole point of the movie was for cameron to grow up and to come out from under the covers in his bedroom.

Ferris’ day off was meant to be over the top. That was the whole deal. It’s in the title.

The car being destroyed is an awesome scene. The car having a storyline adds layers to the movie.

Platoon was one of the 1st post-Vietnam war movies, and it was long overdue.  It's blatantly anti-war.  Nothing wrong with that, but anti-war movies today are a bit tired.  Sorry for going all CR here, but subsequent war movies just tell a good story.  We like that better.

Take the Sheen voiceovers out, and make the score less melodramatic.  It'd be a better movie for this era.

Can I add Blackhawk Down?  It was popular immediately post 9-11.  Still a good action movie, but it veers SO far from the actual story.

Blackhawk Down is an amazing movie. From casting, even the music, the chaos. If you're saying the book is wrong, then OK, I'm not sure I have all the information you may have. The movie is more pro-military, but the overall tone of the movie holds up.

Or he could have already blown out his knee in Spring Practice and already be looking at life of earning peanuts like the rest of us.

More likely he would have balled out and improved his draft position. A 6th rounder passing on a bowl game is a loss.

  8. Sid: You want subversion on a massive level. You know what one of the greatest fucking scripts ever written in the history of Hollywood is? Top Gun.

    Duane: Oh, come on.

Sid: Top Gun is fucking great. What is Top Gun? You think it's a story about a bunch of fighter pilots.

Duane: It's about a bunch of guys waving their dicks around.

Sid: It is a story about a man's struggle with his own homosexuality. It is! That is what Top Gun is about, man. You've got Maverick, all right? He's on the edge, man. He's right on the fucking line, all right? And you've got Iceman, and all his crew. They're gay, they represent the gay man, all right? And they're saying, go, go the gay way, go the gay way. He could go both ways.

    Duane: What about Kelly McGillis?

Sid: Kelly McGillis, she's heterosexuality. She's saying: no, no, no, no, no, no, go the normal way, play by the rules, go the normal way. They're saying no, go the gay way, be the gay way, go for the gay way, all right? That is what's going on throughout that whole movie... He goes to her house, all right? It looks like they're going to have sex, you know, they're just kind of sitting back, he's takin' a shower and everything. They don't have sex. He gets on the motorcycle, drives away. She's like, "What the fuck, what the fuck is going on here?" Next scene, next scene you see her, she's in the elevator, she is dressed like a guy. She's got the cap on, she's got the aviator glasses, she's wearing the same jacket that the Iceman wears. She is, okay, this is how I gotta get this guy, this guy's going towards the gay way, I gotta bring him back, I gotta bring him back from the gay way, so I'll do that through subterfuge, I'm gonna dress like a man. All right? That is how she approaches it. Okay, now let me just ask you - I'm gonna digress for two seconds here. I met this girl Amy here, she's like floating around here and everything. Now, she just got divorced, right? All right, but the REAL ending of the movie is when they fight the MIGs at the end, all right? Because he has passed over into the gay way. They are this gay fighting fucking force, all right? And they're beating the Russians, the gays are beating the Russians. And it's over, and they fucking land, and Iceman's been trying to get Maverick the entire time, and finally, he's got him, all right? And what is the last fucking line that they have together? They're all hugging and kissing and happy with each other, and Ice comes up to Maverick, and he says, "Man, you can ride my tail, anytime!" And what does Maverick say? "You can ride mine!" Swordfight! Swordfight! Fuckin' A, man!

Y'all sound like the drunk student in The West Side Upper deck who is standing up the entire game facing away from the field yelling at the crowd behind him to stand up and yell.

Chill, brahs. This place will come alive once rep is activated.

One should not stand up in the upper deck. If you're the only one standing, you're the problem. If you're the only one sitting, you can't complain about people standing. It's not an individual decision. Next topic: airplane seats - never recline on a commuter flight.

  10. It was a fucking Spring Game. There were good moments, bad moments and normal Spring Game-ish things. I like to think this was the last time we see such a poor offensive line at Texas moving forward, and I do believe the fall version at OL will be much improved. We have got to get over this fucking O-line hump. Hearing Mack Brown talk about our O-line today made me a bit ragey, considering he was the one who started us on this path of garbage O-line.

The QB situation still reverberates to this day ever since John Chiles
