  1. Episode 4 & 5 will just be armies on the march. Setting camp. Chitchat on the road. Breaking camp. Cooking. Shitting in the woods on the side of the King’s Road.

Need to keep the “I want realism” fans happy. If we don’t see people traveling on screen in real time...

That’s where we’ll see Bronn next, when a scout stumbles upon Bronn shitting behind a tree.

I’ll take “Realism” fans over “Fast & Furious” frontrunners who gush over mindless action and story development. Great characters and dialogue distinguished this series in the beginning.

HBO’s business decisions to widen the audience were necessary evils to expand production value, properly depict scale, manage schedules and talent contracts. Doesn’t mean “Realism” fans have to like the aspects of the show that dumb it down.

Stick to “Ooh, my balls!” - a reference to the movie Idiocracy which did not depict the dildo monster truck scene as a cool action sequence.
  2. That's tough...I'm trying to put together a list and keep forgetting how many good ones there are. I'd reckon:

    1. Avengers: Infinity War
    2. Guardians of the Galaxy
    3. Iron Man
    4. Captain America: Winter Soldier
    5. Thor: Ragnarok
    6. Black Panther
    7. Avengers: Endgame
    8. Captain America: Civil War
    9. Avengers
Almost in any order, I feel like this is the top 9 for me. Then there's a decent list of ones vying for #10 between Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange, the Ant-Man films, etc.

Its hard to compare these movies because they’re so diverse. Here’s my list:

Epics: Avengers and GOTG are the two best movies with tight scripts and action sequences. They blew me away and had a lot of surprises and heart.

Origin stories: Iron Man, BP, First Avenger (Liked it more than most)

Sequels: Winter Soldier and Ragnorak are superb movies

Epic Epics: Infinity War and Endgame are just amazingly constructed. They’re like a 1lb bone-in Ribeye. Lots of meat to sink your teeth in, but it carries a lot of fat. Not sure the meat tastes as good without the fat, but its fat nonetheless. Some people even like the fat.

  3. The fact that people here are debating whether or not Trump would peacefully leave office, shows the level of delusion present. Come back down to planet Earth people.

    Why would we be worried?

After some laughter from the crowd, Trump continued: “I was going to joke, General, and say at least for 10 or 14 years, but we would cause bedlam if I said that, so we’ll say six.”

Trump also made a joke on the same topic last year. In a speech to Republican donors at his Mar-a-Lago estate, he praised Chinese President Xi Jinping for doing away with term limits.

    Meanwhile...

“The Chinese helped Bernie Sanders win the election to spread socialism. Until Attorney General Barr and Mitch McConnell get to the bottom of it, they cannot certify the election. What planet are you living on?”- GRHorn, Nov ‘20

  4. I thought Loro was terrible. You pay the same price for brisket as you would at Franklin, but you receive about 2 oz of meat. The sous vide chicken was literally mushy. The Mexican style corn in a cup was delicious, but I think it was $7! Just fucking ridiculous pricing.  Aviary is across the street and is a million times better.

  5. I would love it if people could start referring to TTomTeriffic as "TTom" or "TTTF" or "TerrificallyTom."  I get that he's more prolific and has been on this board longer than me, but calling him "Tom" gives me brief PTSD that I'm as stupid as his dumb fucking takes about everything.

Shut the fuck up Tom! This doesn’t concern you, Tom. In fact, from now on, we’re gonna call your ass “MotherfuckinTtom!”

  6. Always leaves my mind bottled when people blame a roadway for accidents/deaths.

Well, your mind will completely blown when you realize there are people that design roads to be safer, study why some roads have more accidents and fatalities than others, design vehicles to be safer, and study the forensics of vehicular crashes.

People get on forums like this to discuss dangerous roads. Guess all of these types of threads should blame the olds, millennials, ladies, or asians for crashes and close the thread.

  7. that's Cicero... which I already have cited above.... thanks for trying, tho... and keep on hoping that Hillary might still win

Our President has no idea what a Cicero is, and never has tried their pizza. He thinks he might have banged a couple of Ciceroes in the 80’s. But, he’ll be sure to consider Cicero for the Fed.

‘Game of Thrones’ cinematographer says it was your fault 'The Long Night' was too dark

“A lot of the problem is that a lot of people don’t know how to tune their TVs properly,” he told Wired, in an interview alongside director Miguel Sapochnik.
“A lot of people also unfortunately watch it on small iPads, which in no way can do justice to a show like that anyway.
“Personally I don’t have to always see what’s going on because it’s more about the emotional impact. Game of Thrones is a cinematic show and therefore you have to watch it like you’re at a cinema: in a darkened room.
“If you watch a night scene in a brightly-lit room then that won’t help you see the image properly.”

Dude needs a primer from Roger Deakins how to immerse the viewer in darkness while actually capturing images on-screen.

Perhaps I should have told my wife that she couldn’t use the kitchen light to eat dinner. “Honey, the GOT cinematographer wants me to watch this in the dark on the right settings. Can you please turn the lights off so I can immerse myself in the defense of Winterfell? Also, Can you google which settings my tv should be on? Mmmkay, thanks!”

  9. Bunch of fucking Nobel Prize for Literature winners up in here.  Why aren't you all working for HBO,  coaching your favorite college teams to multiple national championships, or setting the hours of operation for HEB?

  10. You are laughably wrong.  Obama not letting all the country's automotive manufacturing go down the tubes, thereby stopping a ripple effect of closed suppliers and dependent businesses (everything from lunch counters to raw product suppliers of suppliers), is an ode to successful Democratic economic policies.   The ship was righted.   We did not lose our auto industry because O did not listen to morons who wanted to 'burn it down and let the free marker build it up'.
That is the same kind of stupid as trickle down.  And yet, a gullible base eats that nonsense up.  Sad.

For fuck sake, he wore tan suit, ate grey poupon, and wore mom jeans. His wife wanted kids to eat healthy. And the stock market plunged 2000 points after he took office. DO SOMETHING!

  11. I think plenty, particularly in the Midwest, are more loyal to their bank accounts than the GOP, and you know Trump’s hurt the bank accounts of plenty of his followers.  That’s why he tries to drown out everything with his “GREATEST ECONOMY IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE” crap.

Democrats pumped up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to cause the mortgage crisis. Obama then lengthened the crisis by giving away golden parachutes to failing bank executives. His socialist policies also prevented American automakers from using the free market to right the ship.

On top of that, he said local law enforcement acted stupidly when they harassed professor Gates in his front porch.

  12. If I’m Cersei, and I know that the winner at winterfell is going to get their shit together and come south for my crown and my head, i march my newly purchased army north and position them so that they can attack winterfell during the aftermath of the first battle when the victor will be weakest and in disarray.

Being exposed in the open ground against dragons does not work out. Best bet is to hide behind walls, use ballistas or whatever to take out some dragons, etc.
  13. The final scene with Arya was amazing and surprising.

When she went off running after talking about killing blue eyes, and wasnt seen for 20 minutes with 10 minutes to go, what did you think was going to happen when NK was strutting up to Bran and all the other characters were about to get it?

I would have liked to see more dragon on dragon action, more whites against main characters, more main characters doing smart things, and less mindless zombies.

Bottom-line, this is solid “A” tv episode, but lots of parts had sloppy writing, editing and cinematography. Think CGI and fan service dictated too much.
  14. Yeah if you're bitching about strategy or how did Arya get the knife or how Jon or any of the others survived or really anything at all about the episode, you pretty much suck at life.
    That was a badass episode.

Well, someone asked. Enjoyed the show, but I couldnt see what was happening 1/3 of the time. Also, every additional moment with a dude grunting and slaying dozens of zombies is boring to some people believe it or not. Game of Thrones thrives on wit and surprise. Waiting for Arya or Jon to save the day only because NK was strutting is not classic television.

  15. For strategy, you really needed to use the Wildlings and Dothraki to strafe and scout before. Use one or two of the dragons.

Also, cant go toe to toe with the Undead on open field because you cant afford to have your own force turn against you. Thought that was known.

Also, needed more barriers to slow the Undead and save your forces.

While there were some thrilling sequences, how it got resolved wasnt all that interesting. Arya going all Ninja was, just OK. What the fuck was Bran doing? Like Derka said, the NK going all slow was typical.

  16. Okay, to those who didn't like it: what were you hoping for that you didn't get?  I'm not trying to be an asshole; I'm honestly curious.
There were several key deaths.  Jorah went out like we knew he would.  Theon got to redeem himself in a blaze of glory.  Lady Mormont died heroically.  We got the dragon aerial battle.  Arya got the ninja kill on the Night King.  The two hottest women on the show, Sansa and Dany are still alive.  The cinemtography, music, and tension were great.
What did we miss out on?  What would've made you happier?

I liked it fine. But here are some issues:

-Their strategy was suspect to say the least in almost all phases. Everyone should have died. But I get it. Would have liked to have seen a more clever victory and plan.
-Very dark. Can’t see shit, Captain.
-Some fluff zombie chase scenes with Arya.
-Single dudes trying to fight off dozens of zombies circling you is stupid. That was 2/3 of all fight scenes.
-The we’re all about to die but there’s 10 minutes and where the hell is Arya pointed to Arya saving the day at the last minute.

Think it was a great episode. But the battles that are saved at the last minute are played. It was chaos, but not really.

  17. these are good takes.  how’s poona doing?  isn’t he working at home depot now?  oh that’s right he made the league his fucking bitch in 2018.

Poona is a unicorn. UFA’s are expendable. With that being said, I can see LJ thriving if he sets his mind to it.
