I put fair catching kickoffs outside of the end zone slightly ahead of fair catching punts inside of 10 as triggering events

Are you kidding me? I'm not sure which game it was, but it seemed like there was one game in particular that we continually shot ourselves in the dick on kickoffs. We were unable to advance those kickoffs repeatedly beyond the 20 yard line. Half the time, we backed ourselves up inside the 15. We were way better off fair catching them and taking the ball at the 25. They even got a Bronx cheer when they finally fielded one correctly.

Also, with regard to DL coach... I'm pretty much in favor of whoever manages to deliver Collins. I'm not sure the DL coach will be here after next year, but I sure as shit hope that Collins is.

Let's pull this out of that mess for posterity

They really do Tom Herman zero favors with these rankings but it's what Carrington and that contingent on the Texas staff plus the Bathwater Bunch spend an inordinate amount of time lobbying for.

If we learned anything from recruiting in the latter Mack Brown years, it is that it's really easy to sign a bunch of paper tigers. And there is more than ample evidence to support that players that commit to UT get a bump in their ratings. But holy lack of self awareness Batman. I would like to direct Chin Pubes to the stellar track record of the Lucci 44, where he has taken "doing zero favors" to coaching staffs by overating high school football players to an art form.

I think a lot of it comes down to recruiting - I think some coaches hate it and can’t wait for an NFL opportunity so they don’t have to deal with kids and their families.

I have no idea how Rhule feels about it - but if money is close it could certainly sway the decision.

It's not just the recruiting itself and the bullshittery that surrounds it, it's the fact that you have to do it 365 days a year. You get virtually no break as a college coach. It's a quality of life issue.

We have at least 3 contracts that are unbelievably difficult to move.  And we've had several in the last 3-4 years.  Patty's may not seem terrible now, but they it's been bad for a few years as an example.  And unless your stars are in their prime, it's hard to run back one where most of the key components are in their 30's.  I don't think Pop forgot to coach overnight, I think it's more the pieces don't fit very well and as decline has seeped in to some of our key players, it makes game planning against, too difficult to overcome.

There is no doubt that they have some bad deals on their books and have had a few more (see Gasol, Pau) over the past few years, but they don't have any franchise-altering albatross contracts like John Wall, CP3, Russell Westbrook or CJ McCollum/Dame Lillard. They clear essentially everything but Dejonte Murray and rookie deals off of their cap after next season. Derozan (hopefully) will be off their books after this season. Going forward, they are in great shape to take on some bad deals for draft picks and/or young prospects.

  5. KG once told Tim Duncan "Happy Mother's Day.". Duncan's mom died from cancer when something like 14 years old. KG also told Carmelo that his wife "Tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios."

And there's nothing funnier than a guy who didn't win dick for a decade in Minnesota talking shit about somebody else leaving to get help.

I can accept that this BR tracker thing has Bam at 9 when he should easily be top 5, but Khris Middleton? The fuck? Why?

I didn't get into their methodology but I did see that they limit it to two players per team, so I would assume it is largely based on team wins.

  7. Since we are talking MVP candidates... here is the basketball reference MVP tracker submitted without comment.

  8. They still shouldn't be this bad. That game last night was about effort. And their effort sucked until the fourth quarter.

I don't get it with this team. They are 9-15, habitually lose to the dregs of the league, and act like they can flip the switch to pull out wins whenever they feel like it. If this were any other franchise in the league, the head coach would be on the hot seat.
