  1. If you're looking for a silver lining, Rudy Gobert was the only Twolves player with a positive +/- for the game at +4! So maybe the trade was worth it after all. We will just politely ignore that he was -28 in game 1. It's trending in the right direction.
  2. I don't think there is anything that KAT can do that will change this series. The Wolves are outclassed. That third quarter last night was an anomaly. Denver got up big for the second night in a row, got complacent and took the foot off the gas. Unless you think going 17-21 from the field and scoring 40 in a quarter of a playoff game is repeatable over the course of 48 minutes, that is. In the other quarters in this series, the wolves have scored 23, 21, 14, 22, 22, 27, and 24. And Denver is not even an average defensive team. Things should be better at home, but they would've been a prohibitive underdog even with Naz Reid and McDaniels. They are a terribly constructed team. They have almost no chance in this series barring injury.
  3. I didn't think Malone was ever going to call a timeout. He should have done it about 8 points ago.
  4. I'm not the biggest LeBron fan but I hope he hangs 40 on this dick head game 3.
  5. I didn't watch one second of his film, but he was the composite #117 player in the country with good physical traits and from Alabama. Unless the rankings are waaaaaay off, that dude is a take for Saban and just about everybody.
  6. On one hand, you hate to lose an very athletically gifted developmental guy like Thompson when he's young and could turn into something. On the other, Oklahoma is taking up a roster spot with a guy who was passed up by true freshmen at Texas.
  7. Yeah they look out gunned but they've been terrible on the road all year. I expect them to take the next two at home and make this a long series. That Jordan Poole extension doesn't really look like a light years ahead of the rest of the league move right about now. He's supposed to carry that second unit offensively and every time Curry leaves the game they go to shit. Also can we revisit the take that the warriors / clippers / lakers should all be angling to face the inexperienced no defense playing 3 seed Kings? I don't care who it is, anybody who goes into that building for a playoff game is in for a very difficult evening. And they have been one of the best road teams all year too.
  8. I think Sabonis milked that rolling around on the ground like he was dead. But fuck Draymond. I just don't get how such a smart player continually does such stupid things.
  9. He seems longer and more athletic than Redick to me. He's probably got 4 or 5 inches on him. Much higher upside on defense. Would like to see what his measurements are. His shooting alone makes him a high floor pick. He's got one skill that you know will translate. And it wasn't so much that he had a bad game in Austin or didn't shoot it well, he was just uninvolved. Not rebounding. Not impacting the game on defense. Not really moving without the ball to get open. Just invisible. They started running some actions for him late and he made shots, but it was like they finally remembered they had a lottery pick on their team with about 5 minutes left in the game.
  10. Probably so but he was absolutely invisible for 38 minutes when I saw him live in Austin. He's going to have to go to the right place where he won't have to create for himself.
  11. Actually, I should have shown the beginning of this clip because they get a screen down low that gets KD free from Kawhi.... so they get the mismatch they want with Gordon covering Durant, and still fuck it up.
  12. It's not nearly enough time to figure out your teammates or for them figure you out. Basketball chemistry sounds like bullshit but it's real. The last play of the game where Booker got blocked by Westbrook... watch KD at the beginning. They are trying to get him the ball (I think) and they can't, so he just waves Booker on to take the shot. And then KD starts drifting over to him bringing his defender actually closer to Booker who drives to his off hand and gets blocked by Westbrook. I'm not sure what the fuck Monty Williams is trying to draw up there, but it's terrible all the way around - no movement (other than non factor Landry Shamet clearing the fuck out of the way), no screens, terrible spacing, confusion, indecisiveness. That's no way to try to close out a playoff game.
  13. Incredible play by russ. Unreal.
  14. The nephew can ball. Fuck that guy in the goat ass but he's great. He and KD going one on one is so good. Also I just remembered I still hate Chris Paul. That little chippy flopping shit with Mann...
  15. Cavs got murdered on the offensive glass. That was basically the ball game. Young team is going to have to grow up fast. Kings / Warriors is going to be a track meet. I think Sabonis is key. He's a poor defender but the Warriors have no one to exploit him.
  16. I was at both of those shows too. They were great. They both did a lot of uncle tupelo tunes. They didn't have enough solo material otherwise. It's been a minute but did Doug Sahm come out and play Give Back the Key to my Heart with one of them? I caught Charlie Robison last night in Bandera. He sounded pretty good but holy shit he looks terrible. He had to sit down the whole show.
  17. For sure that is some next level analysis. I mean, what the hell else is there besides the coaching and the player?
  18. I would take Miller at 2 but they would almost surely pass on him because of the off the court stuff. They were just dragged in the most publicly and humiliating way possible by another young dude from Bama. And they are predisposed to not suffer fools or head cases ever since the Dennis Rodman days. They've built the entire organization on this principle so I just can't see them taking Miller regardless of how tantalizing his talent is. They will do their diligence but to me he is the second best player in the draft but probably un-draftable for them. I'm just not that high on Scoot Henderson but he's probably the default pick. His g league play was underwhelming and there are some flags. I need to check out more of him. If they go below 3, it's a complete crapshoot. I haven't done a ton of research, but the Thompson twins make me really nervous. The league has been peppered with uber athletic dudes who just aren't that great at playing basketball. From my limited viewing, I would probably take Jerace Walker from Houston. Or maybe Hendricks from UCF? I dunno. Let's all hope it doesn't come down to that.
  19. Unlimited visits is a benefit to Texas. All of the recent changes -- NIL, the portal, unlimited official visits, removal of the 25 man counter -- favor the monied programs. We have been playing this game with one hand tied behind our back for decades. No more excuses.
  20. There's probably not a ton to talk about pre-lottery, but I thought I'd get this started. In the meantime, pray to your preferred deity that we hit it big when it counts most. For the third time. Other than that, this should be a pretty bland off season. They have one real priority and that's locking up Devin Vassell to a reasonable deal. They should also get Tre Jones on board at a decent clip. I think they've seen enough of Zach Collins to warrant an extension as well. None of those contracts should be back breakers. I haven't talked to anybody down there in a while, but I still think Pop comes back. They still have a ton of cap and future draft assets. Barring a lottery win where they might consider adding some stabilizing vets to a young core, I don't anticipate them burning through either of them. I'd still be a fan of taking on someone's bad contract for more picks. This thing is still building. As terrible as this season was, it wasn't a total waste. We learned that Sochan is a player. He could be elite if his springer ever gets fixed. Plus it seems like he's going to drive the culture in the right direction. Great draft pick. Vassell is pretty good and only getting better. He only played in 38 games but he could be on the brink of being really good. Malaki Branham can get buckets, at a minimum. He's far from a finished product (especially on defense), but was another great pick from last season. I didn't see enough of Wesley to learn anything definitive, but he's athletic and is a willing defender with a high motor. Collins is rotational big. That gamble really paid off. I really don't know what to make of Keldon Johnson. At the very least he is an asset that you can move if he doesn't have a fit going forward. All of these guys would benefit immensely from playing with a true star who can tilt the floor and make the game easier for them. That's what it's all about. That's what it's always about. Go Spurs Go.
  21. I thought the Pels looked like a legitimate contender at the beginning of the season when Zion was healthy. I think he, CJ and Ingram only played in about 10 total games together and they have a really nice collection of role players to surround them. The roster just makes sense to me and has good fit. I would have liked to see what they could do. Zion looked like an absolute force when he did play. It was almost comical to watch guys bounce off of him in the paint. He was getting to the rim whenever he wanted. It's a shame that he can't stay healthy. But by the same token, if he was actually physically good to play last night then he should have at least given it a go. That is utter horseshit that he's in his own head and that he thinks he would negatively impact the team or be hesitant. Like, give it the old college try, bud. If he was bad or out of rhythm, then pull him. If he gives your team anything -- even an emotional lift for 5 minutes like Willis Reed -- then you are probably advancing to the next game. Actually, if Nance Jr and Alvarado play last night they probably advance, too. But If Zion gets re-injured, who cares? He's got six months to get healthy. It's not like he's coming off a fucking ruptured Achillles. He's got a bum hammy because he's too fat. I hate to be the get off my lawn guy, but could you imagine someone like Jordan or Kobe or Bird saying, "You know, I'm going to sit this elimination game out even though I'm physically ready because I don't feel quite like myself." I honestly can't believe he let that message get out. What a horrible, horrible look. It's way too early to write off a 22 year old kid but he hasn't done shit to address his weight and he seems like a gaping vagina who is more interested in cashing checks than being an NBA star.
  22. I'm in the same boat but I'm not invested enough to google anydamnbody. My 17 year old son kinda fills me in on some of the stuff, but after reading the posts here I'm probably missing like 90% of the nuance. I mean, I had to ask him last night when on the timeline of the three trilogies is this shit supposed to take place. Still think it is cool and the cameos throughout have been great. Leon Phelps and Skinny Pete ftw.
  23. She's better in the clutch than her old man ever was.
  24. Lol derozens daughter ft defense is the difference in this game.
