  1. Dallas isn't even going to make the play in. Jesus that team is a mess. Going to be a fun off season.
  2. I'm pretty huge on championship experience. And nobody has more of it than the Warriors and Lebron. The W's need Wiggins back in the worst way, though. He levels up their defense and makes all the parts fit together. Klay is playing much better than last year and they got GP2 back. The only real piece they are missing from last season is Otto Porter, who I thought was tremendous for them in their run. I would not want to face that team in a 7 game series. As for the Lakers, what they pulled off at the trade deadline was borderline miraculous. They completely rebuilt their lineup with guys that actually fit and who can shoot and defend. They are 12-6 since then and that's with Lebron missing 13 of those games. I'd much rather take my chances against the no defense playing Kings or mentally unstable Memphis than either LA or GS.
  3. Alternate version: the interior of the oline is getting it handed to them.
  4. They for sure aren't missing the playoffs with KD back. They were a longshot to miss them, anyway. I thought he would be out longer. I think they're the favorites in the west. Not that anyone asked, but this how I see the west assuming each team is at 100% (Wiggins, AD, PG13, Zion, et. al.) come playoff time, which we know will not be the case: The Cumsteen WC power rankings: 1. PHX 2. GS 3. DEN 4. LAL 5. LAC 6. MEM 7. NOP 8. SAC 9. MIN 10. OKC 11. UTA 12. DAL
  5. Magic number for clinching bottom three record is one since Charlotte somehow keeps winning. Tonight could be the night. There's also a possibility that tonight is Pops last game coaching in San Antonio. I'm still of the belief that he keeps coaching (especially if the lottery gods favor us) but you never know.
  6. I think teams will do everything they can to avoid the play-in. You're potentially getting into a one-game NCAA tourney style do or die situation in that case.
  7. Atlanta has been +/- one game from .500 for a couple of months now. It's oddest NBA streak I can remember. WC Standings Remaining games DEN (1) 51 24 NO, at PHX, GS, at HOU, at PHX, at UTA, SAC MEM (2) 48 27 LAC, LAC, at CHI, Port, at NO, at MIL, at OKC SAC (3) 45 30 at Port, at Port, SA, at NO, at DAL, GS, at DEN PHO (4) 40 35 at UTA, MIN, DEN, at OKC, SA, DEN, at LAL, LAC LAC (5) 40 36 at MEM, at MEM, at NO, LAL, Port, at PHX GSW (6) 40 37 SA, at DEN, OKC, at SAC, at Port MIN (7) 39 37 at PHX, LAL, Port, at Nets, at SA, NO NOP (8) 38 38 at DEN, LAC, SAC, MEM, SAC, MEM, NYK, MIN LAL (9) 37 38 at Chi, at Min, at Hou, at UTA, at LAC, PHX, UTA OKC (10) 37 39 Det, at IND, PHX, at GS, at UTA, Mem DAL (11) 37 39 at PHI, at MIA, at ATL, SAC, CHI, SA UTA (12) 35 40 at SA, at Bos, at Nets, LAL, OKC, Den, at LAL Some things to watch: 1. If Denver, Memphis and Sacramento settle into their current slots (which appears likely), there are going to be some games down the stretch where teams are resting. Those b2b Clipper games at Memphis (with no PG13) will be big in that regard and will go a long way to determine whether SAC and Denver still have to go hard the rest of the way. Those two games are critical for the Clippers too, obviously. 2. Sacramento is almost certainly going to settle into the 3 seed. They take care of business in those back to back games at Portland and then beat the Spurs, the rest of the season is almost certainly meaningless for them (unless Memphis slides). Good news for NO, Dallas and GS who will get them late with nothing to play for. 3. Phoenix has a tough path. They won't have an easy night the rest of the way (other than the Spurs). Same thing for NOLA. They may get a break with the possibility of Memphis and Sacramento resting, but otherwise they will be in dogfights each night. 4. Utah is doubtful to make the post season with their record and remaining schedule. 5. Dallas has 4 eastern conference teams left (plus SA and SAC) which seems like a really weird finish to the schedule. They won't get full game swings in the standings like most of the other teams. I don't know if that is good or bad for them. It probably doesn't make a shit with the way they are playing. 6. OKC probably has two gimme wins vs. Indiana and Detroit, but they could lose the rest.
  8. Whoever wrote this practice report has obviously never been married.
  9. Perfectly on brand for Oklahoma. I guess they practice in their ankle monitors too?
  10. Saw it last night. Absolutely stunning. One of the greatest action flicks of all time. I loved the first one, liked the second one and was kind of meh on the last one... But holy shit does 4 deliver. Sure it's a little bloated with the run time but got damn it's great.
  11. I would think avoiding the play in would be at the top of everybody's priority in the bottom of the standings. Or are you saying that teams want to draw the kings first round? I guess both?
  12. Brutal loss and a terrible way for this team to go out. Such a fun, smart and resilient team to root for. Everybody bitching about the Cunningham call but there were a ton of block/charge calls that didn't go our way. Just couldn't get a break and couldn't stop the momentum. Heartbreaker for sure.
  13. Losing b2b against the tanking hornets when your playoff life is on the line isn't exactly going to garner much mvp support. They are better off with a 2% chance of getting wemby than subjecting their fans to any more of this.
  14. Mi Tienda beans are definitely the best tasting store bought I've ever had, but I do find them a little runny. Also... they have a short expiration date typically which isn't a big deal but I would stock up on them otherwise.
  15. 2023 Spring Practice Thread - rehash of losing to Kansas at home and getting shut out against OU. Coming soon - an Ian Boyd style breakdown of Rout 66 and a think piece about what really went wrong in the 46-3 Cotton Bowl vs Miami.
  16. Checking in at a smooth 95% fresh on rotten tomatoes. As if I wasn't in regardless....
  17. My wife has these two vintage wing back chairs that she had re-done about 10 years ago. They get used all the time in our house but they aren't exactly comfortable. One of them broke. Shit is probably 75 years old. It happens. Her former furniture guy -- aka toothless who I have discussed here before -- is completely MIA. And fortunately, he still has some of her furniture wherever the fuck that dentally impaired dipshit is now, because we don't have any room for it anyway. So she finds a new furniture guy who came out to the house to take a look at repairing the chair. Well, it seems that to repair the chair, he needs to cut into the fabric which will fuck up everything. So, now in addition to chair fixing, we are re-upholstering. And since they are a pair, you have to do them both and you might as well reinforce the other once too. We're looking at about $900 and that's before she goes out and buys 10 yards of fabric (which will almost surely cost more than the fucking repair work alone) to re-do them. So, I am looking at $2,000+ when she could just go out and buy some new ones that would actually be comfortable.
  18. The western conference is just stupid right now. 3 game difference between HCA in the first round and the lottery, West W L DEN (1) 49 24 MEM (2) 45 27 SAC (3) 43 29 PHO (4) 38 34 LAC (5) 38 35 GSW (6) 38 36 MIN (7) 37 37 OKC (8) 36 36 DAL (9) 36 37 LAL (10) 36 37 UTA (11) 35 37 NOP (12) 35 37 Here is the strength of schedule remaining for the 9 teams duking it out. Rank OPP win % # Games LEFT 3 Utah .549 10 5 Phoenix .538 10 7 New Orleans .527 10 8 LA Clippers .518 9 12 Golden State .517 8 13 Minnesota .483 8 21 LA Lakers .468 9 27 Oklahoma City .459 10 28 Dallas .458 9 Anybody want to guess how this all shakes out? There's a decent argument to make that Phoenix won't even make the playoffs if they don't get KD back. They've lost 5 out of their last 6. CP looks completely washed. Ayton is out but should be back soon, I guess. They gave up all their depth in the Brooklyn trade. And this is how they finish: 73 Fri, Mar 24, 2023 10:00p @ Sacramento Kings 74 Sat, Mar 25, 2023 10:00p Philadelphia 76ers 75 Mon, Mar 27, 2023 9:00p @ Utah Jazz 76 Wed, Mar 29, 2023 10:00p Minnesota Timberwolves 77 Fri, Mar 31, 2023 10:30p Denver Nuggets 78 Sun, Apr 2, 2023 7:00p @ Oklahoma City Thunder 79 Tue, Apr 4, 2023 10:00p San Antonio Spurs 80 Thu, Apr 6, 2023 10:00p Denver Nuggets 81 Fri, Apr 7, 2023 10:30p @ Los Angeles Lakers 82 Sun, Apr 9, 2023 3:30p Los Angeles Clippers
  19. The Clippers schedule down the stretch is brutal, too. Every team left is in the playoff / play-in hunt other than Portland. 74 Thu, Mar 23, 2023 10:30p Oklahoma City Thunder 75 Sat, Mar 25, 2023 10:30p New Orleans Pelicans 76 Mon, Mar 27, 2023 10:30p Chicago Bulls 77 Wed, Mar 29, 2023 8:00p @ Memphis Grizzlies 78 Fri, Mar 31, 2023 8:00p @ Memphis Grizzlies 79 Sat, Apr 1, 2023 8:30p @ New Orleans Pelicans 80 Wed, Apr 5, 2023 10:00p Los Angeles Lakers 81 Sat, Apr 8, 2023 4:00p Portland Trail Blazers 82 Sun, Apr 9, 2023 3:30p @ Phoenix Suns And I've said this before about that Clippers/Thunder trade, but it looks worse on paper for the Clips than it actually is because it also essentially netted them Kawhi. Still, they've got jack shit to show for it so far and OKC is set up well for the future. The Thunder are going to need some things to break just right for them to really maximize those picks but they've got multiple shots to be drafting in the lottery while still competing. At some point, though, they just aren't going to have the roster space or enough development minutes to keep cycling in rookies.
