Manipulation by and collusion with extraterrestrials is the biggest event by far in the history of man, although that has not been generally acknowledged.

And, yet, they were still defeated by a ragtag uprising with naval support by the French (at least in our timeline).
Mexico and the Indian nations were largely defeated by a swelling American population fed by waves of European immigrants IMHO. Do those immigrants still arrive on these shores if the Colonies were still "colonies"?
I think England gave up more than they were beaten.
Don't think you would have had the mass migrations if America had not become independent.

Wrong thread, but Texas and Alabama could easily be in the same conference. League with Texas Alabama A&M, Arky, OU, Auburn, uga, fla, TN would be the best in college ball.

I don't know about those particular events, but I do agree that it's a fascinating thought-experiment. What if the Colonies and the King/Parliament had reached a compromise? Would the eastern US have essentially become a Canada-like outpost? Would colonization have spilled over the Appalachian Mountains, leaving the interior to the Indians? Would Mexico and several other Latin American countries have been inspired to declare their own independence against Spain?
The British were about ruthless as you could find back then and they would have gotten rid of all the Indians and blacks beat the hell out of Mexico and France.

Revolution Era deserves more than a mere passing mention.
I wonder from time to time what it would be like if America had remained part of the British Empire. No Civil War, likely no WW1, so no WW2. Probably war with Spain to take Mexico and the South West.

California gold rush. Mass migration within the country and immigration from
dirty foreignersoutside right at the peak of whether new states would be free or slave states.Oregon made their choice:
QuoteThe Oregon black exclusion laws were attempts to prevent black people from settling within the borders of the settlement and eventual U.S. state of Oregon. The first such law took effect in 1844, when the Provisional Government of Oregon voted to exclude all black settlers from Oregon's borders. The law authorized a punishment for any black settler remaining in the territory to be whipped with "not less than twenty nor more than thirty-nine stripes" for every six months they remained.[1] Additional laws aimed at African Americans entering Oregon were ratified in 1849 and 1857.[2] The last of these laws was repealed in 1926.[3] The laws, born of anti-slavery and anti-black beliefs,[2][4] were often justified as a reaction to fears of blacks instigating Native American uprisings.[5]

Can't wait to see all of those lunar bases, if they show them that is. Doubt they do, but this is worth watching because it would be a great way to blackmail "the powers that be".

Good story. Did you ever hang out with him? I'm not a huge Styx fan either but I like pretty much all the songs he sang and wrote.
No, not really. We said hello etc. I knew his friends he knew mine. It was a pretty good sized JR High, maybe 800 kids and he was in the grade ahead, so he was in high school when I was still in JR high for my last year. The high school had 2400 students or so too.
He played at a local bar and we would always say hello. One day, he was gone from the band and had left to join Styx. He had lived in Chicago and had gained a local reputation for his abilities. His patience ran out though and returned to Montgomery and began playing with a local group, that were all hometown guys.
One of the Styx guys left and he was asked to go and replace him and he was gone.

So Saban obviously will be gone right? This does not line up with his "process"
Bill Synder is 78 and still kicking. Saban is 66 and in great health and the bet is that he will likely be the coach for another 5-10 years.

I was never a fan of STYX, but my claim to fame I guess was going to school (jr high, high school) with Tommy Shaw who was a year older than me.
Girls were always around him even before he started playing music. I never got that either, because he was pretty ugly, but he dressed nice and I guess had some cool factor going.
This is a picture of him coming out of the high school we went too. The girl on the right in plaid lived behind me and she was really really hot.

Texas looks to be super in 4-5 years. If Alabama sort of maintains it should be THE game of the week.

Hopefully at night. Both towns are just too hot for afternoon football that time of year.

Property tax is already 5% of appraised value in some areas of Illinois. 5% property tax, 3-5% mortgage interest. Insurance etc. Why own a home in Illinois?
