    Total interference!!!

But if the ball is not under thrown then the defender can't interfere... 5 yards deeper and Worthy isn't having to catch the ball literally off the back of the defender.  Though I also have considerable criticism of throwing that deep ball on first down. The under throw was on Ewers. The result was... a punt, because of the zero yards on first down.

Let me be clear, while I am critical of Ewers I am rooting for him like a Mofo.  My concern is his confidence quite frankly, and I think it's shaken.  Because what does he do the next series? We again call a deep ball on first, but this time it's way over thrown.  To me that's a mental adjustment rather than shaking off the first under throw, and simply slinging the next one without thinking.  I think Ewers was still thinking about the last one, and decided to throw it harder, rather than forget about that first pass and trusting all the ball you have thrown in practice. Which is a better choice mentally, for any QB or DB. You gotta not let the last one, influence the next one.

AGAIN!  I am critical of the bombs away on first down!  Result of zero yards on... again a punt.  Of course had we gotten one of those two, 'Bama might have been on their heels a hair on defense, but you gotta have success to put any defense on its heels.  Sure hope Ewers hits his next deep ball, just to help mentally as much as anything.

Burnt orange glasses on, once he hits one or two, they start flowing.

Do we also get to act like last year didn't happen? Or that he looked exactly like he did last year after another off season?

Sure, you can do that. You can ignore the games he played well and focus only on the bad ones. Why the fuck you’re bothering to watch this season instead of just rewatching last year’s is an exercise for the reader, I guess.

During the game Huard noted that Ewers didn’t miss a single pass in practice on Friday. None. He has to throw deep balls in practice so something is not clicking on Saturday’s. What that is who knows but it is frustrating for sure.

It’s not just the deep balls. His throw on the first 4th down was pretty poor. How you get someone out of his mental funk and ready to do what he’s physically capable of doing isn’t straightforward. Sooner would be better than later.

The scenario is an 8-5 season. You are taking the position that the D is not a problem, and assuming that D isn't the problem, the O must be although maybe ST gives up too many punt/kick blocks and big returns. Sark needs to change something pretty radically. A lot of us seem to think the solution is for him to quit OC'ing and concentrate on CEO'ing, but nothing suggests that he will do so.

Yes, yes, if we assume Kwiatkowski loses his damned mind and starts sucking then let’s talk about it. Until then, his guys have done nothing but get better.

If Texas goes 8-5 without injuries of biblical proportions, Sarkisian is going to have a lot of splaining to do.

Let’s keep coming up with imaginary reasons for a currently imaginary bad result. It’s the Texas way.

If we're 8-5 again - or worse - heads should roll. Whose heads depends on the nature of the losses. If it's on the O, that's on the OC... which is Sark himself, and PK probably doesn't get fired by Sark. But if the D just cannot get stops on 3rd and 4th, the DC is fair game, although he might be allowed to replace some of his staff.

If it is indeed O problems causing another average season, Sark will be on a hot hot hot seat. I doubt the big dogs will fire him in his third season, but it's certain there would be changes. Who goes? Flood? Choice? Milwee? Jackson? Banks?  Make a couple or three of those losses be caused by a quarterback who just slammed his hand in a cheerleader, throwing fourteen deep balls to receivers with broken hands, and it could be Sark on the block, but I'd think he would be allowed to stay and have to get an actual OC / play caller and replace Milwee.

Gonna be an interesting season, anyway.

In that scenario, maybe it’s reasonable to “suggest” to Sarkisian that he hire an OC if he wants to keep cashing those fat checks. It’s not reasonable to get rid of a guy whose defense isn’t the problem.

Not so much that, as that a struggling HC has to sacrifice someone lest he become the sacrifice himself. Sumpin' have to change. An 8-5 season, again, would likely be seen to indicate no real progress.

So, we have figured out that Kwiatkowski knows what he’s doing, but we’re down with sacrificing him for failures that aren’t his? Not sure that’s a better take.

They rolled Tech at home. They had the hotter team at the time. We lost the NC chance when got Crabtreed. Unpopular opinion around here, I’m sure. And yes I’m familiar with what Leach and Briles did to us in polls. Not sure it would’ve mattered.

They didn’t play either of the other two teams on the road.

If you think “hotter team at the time,” even if true, trumps a double digit loss at a neutral site, we’ll, that’s at least a take.

Either way, let’s just enjoy their current shame.

When Leach beat us in 2008, we lost our chance at the championship game. Even when they crushed our souls back then, they weren’t nearly as cunty as they are now. It’s like they think Mahomes winning the Super Bowl means they are automatically good at football because of it.

Missing the championship game didn’t come until the fucked up polling.

Texas beat OU at a neutral site and had a last second loss on the road to Tech.
OU lost to Texas and got Tech at home.

Sorry.  Misread.  That said,  I love having a good defense again.  When rice was in 3rd and long,  I felt confident.   Been  a  while

Heck, yeah. Very few missed tackles and a lot of people wanting to be part of them. Good stuff, even for one game against an outmanned team.

I get it, and I'm usually the #1 pollyanna on this board, but something isn't passing the eyeball test.

I’m not saying there aren’t issues, but 6 total TDs without a turnover and still being upset despite the results would be getting into “but VY is throwing from a weird angle” territory.

To be clear, Ewers missed a couple of TD passes, so it wasn’t just all bad luck with his receivers. It’s frustrating and more than a little baffling. Leaving aside drops or whatever, if he hits one of those shots to Worthy I’d feel a little more encouraged. But he didn’t, so I’m not.

I was encouraged that Worthy really appeared to know where those balls were and went after them. Keep the ball on the field and let him and Mitchell and Neyor go after them or draw the PI that should have been called.

Is this hyperbole and my meter is broken? 277 touches in 12 games, good for 23 touches a game. 1800 total Yards and 20 TD’s just for Bijan. Roschon had 107 touches. 377 times those two guys had the ball in their hands lol. That doesn’t count incomplete passes which I’m sure there were a few. Aside from the tcu game which we all know was just abysmal, we were held to like a 2.5 YPC that game, we gave Bijan 20 + carries every damn game and threw him passes haha. We didn’t waste him.

It’s sarcasm attempting to highlight the fact that, of fucking course, Sarkisian knew what he had in Robinson and Johnson. Those weren’t the first uber-talented guys he’s had on his offense.
