  1. I thought Greg having the "inventory" files or whatever it was that Tom asked him to delete the second time was going to be his way back in to the good graces of Tom. I liked that Tom gave Greg a chance back in the fold.

The scene with Kendall and Roman was a very powerful one, maybe the most poignant and hard-hitting of all the scenes and reminded me of this famous scene with Roman playing the part of Biff and trying to tell a delusional Kendall portrayed by Willie that they are nothing-- a dime a dozen:

I thought that was a pretty brilliant ending, but a lot of people won't get it.

Hader doing some pretty solid truth-telling.

    Yes. This.

Tour de Force, all around. Bill Hader has arrived.

  3. Reading more into it:

“The deal would shift $10 billion each in fiscal years 2024 and 2025 in funding away the Internal Revenue Service, but officials believe the IRS can make due in the near term since they were funded over a 10-year period. They may need to seek more funding from Congress for future years, one of the officials said.

The text of the House of Representatives legislation released on Sunday showed the deal would take back just $1 billion from the IRS, but the White House agreed to the additional cuts as part of the appropriations process that will take place over the next two years.”

So really sounds like more of a gentleman’s agreement after that first milly? Not sure how all that works, but all’s well that ends well.

I reckon McCarthy got told to make a deal by GOP mega donors who didn't want to lose a huge chunk of their wealth overnight.

Same. Sounds like the only real concession was $10bn to IRS which nobody cares about and some easy to spoof new requirements for able bodied adults under 54 years old to check the box in order to continue with welfare.

  5. Is it just me or is Tombstone a fun, nostalgic movie, but one you kinda outgrow after you turn 30. I get it, I did it too, drinking coors light and watching it and quoting it with your friends in high school and college, but at some point having a Tombstone quote-off is cringe.
Maybe this post should be in unpopular opinion thread.

  6. Good little read on The New Yorker:

In his extraordinary eulogy for Logan, Kendall says, “There wasn’t a room, from the grandest state room where his advice was sought to the lowest house where his news played, where he couldn’t walk and wasn’t comfortable.” Kendall was never comfortable in any room he walked into, most of all the room of his own skin. Placed against more confident adversaries (Logan, Lukas Matsson), he could merely puff himself up with hot air, but he could never be at peace. The question hovering over the finale is who will, at long last, get control of Waystar Royco. Kendall seems bent on becoming the “killer” his father told him he was not. But Logan, having fucked off on his own time, isn’t around to dethrone. It’s clear that Kendall would be better suited living out his years in a nice villa in Tuscany than running a media empire, but he has the same misguided hunger that he did at the start, the same need to kill or impress or become his father, in lieu of winning his love. With or without Logan’s crown, he’ll never have his father’s spine. He’s a gloriously flawed, tragically ridiculous, comically inept Prince Hamlet for our pathetic times. Farewell, Kendall Roy. We loved you, but you are not a serious person.

  7. Was eating a fresh watermelon and had this thought, at some point we ate a watermelon slice with the black seeds for the last time and didn’t realize it.

I remember as a kid that’s just how it was, before GMO completely (for the better don’t get me wrong) changed the game so now all watermelons you buy at stores are seedless.

I suppose you can go buy a watermelon from a farmer or small farmers market for the nostalgia of eating around and spitting the seeds, but it’s been at least a decade since I’ve had anything but seedless.

But it’s strange our imagery and illustrations of watermelon still incorporate the black seeds. Even the iPhone emoji as I type this on my phone.

He always makes fun of CNN.  CNN and their reporters were the biggest whipping boys for his “fake news” rants during press conferences when he was President.   The drop is because CNN’s audience was people who don’t like Trump, and they’re pissed that CNN gave him a pep rally.

On top of the fact that CNN was already hemorrhaging ratings and in probably why the desperate gambit to even field Trump’s narcissism.

The Freedom Caucus is already making the rounds bitching, so there's likely a deal with enough Dem support to cut them out. Neither side will get everything they want, but we will not default.  Not a single chance.

I hope you are right, for economy sake.

I pulled all my money out of markets and parked it in the bank a few weeks ago just to be safe until we figure this out. Yea, I missed the Nvidia run-up, but I've also read the stock and markets could take anywhere from a 10-40% haircut overnight if this thing happens.

    Be safe out there, playas.

  10. Holy crap this was such schlock and sooooo bad. I can't believe how far MCU has fallen. There just can't be much left in the bag, especially now that the big baddies will be cancelled for like John David Washington or someone else not as good, as Majors was the only bright spot.

i don't think a short musical series on apple+ is quite the payday you're making it out to be.

cage and willis are action stars and can help sell a movie overseas.

Then I'm honestly wondering why Keegan-Michael Key would agree to do something like this. He's in the new Mario as a prominent voice as he seems to be a big voice actor these days as well, he's got good projects you'd think he could occupy his time and legacy with.

    I loved season 1. I don't think I even knew there was a season 4. I bailed on 3 pretty quickly.

Season 1 was awesome; season 2 was okay- season 3 I hated. Season 4 I got through half an episode before I bailed forever.
