  1. That fat fucking retard must have 3rd leg
  2. I'll give Mack credit for that. Saban also rotates Asst coaches in frequently. There's a bit of a catch-22; to get fresh talent who wants to work with you at the highest level you have to be successful and build trust, but to built trust and be successful you probably need access to new talent and fresh ideas. Starting that flywheel is tough, which is probably why so many coaches stick with their core group. Hell if you believe the rumors about Urban he's looking to go back to the talent he's used in the past, not raid 7 different programs for asst. coaches...
  3. We have plenty of evidence that this is true, asst and position coaches matter in player development and we've sorely lacked here. The counter-argument is that coaches tend to dance with who brung 'em, and they value known quantities, working well together, and everyone working within a common system and defined roles - all of which they reasonably had at the stop before they came to Texas otherwise they wouldn't be considered. That's why I always find it amusing that we as fans grouse about how Herman should really "open the checkbook" and "hire XYZ OC/DC" because they are "the best." First of all, while money speaks, what is the motivation for a top tier OC/DC to join a head coach they've never worked with before? What if you're not compatible, what if the HC wants to overrule your calls on the headset on gameday even though he promised not to do that and can't give up his OC tendancies? If I'm a top flight OC and you offer to pay me 150% of what I'm making right now that's awesome, but 150% of my salary now for 2 years when my new HC gets fired and takes me down with him might not look as good as 4 years @100% of what I make now and the chance to jump to a HC position of my own, or move up to a higher tier program as OC with a HC I know and have a relationship with. We have this arrogance as Texas that we can money whip anyone and that's all that matters: it's not. Job security, working relationships, chances of success, administrative support and culture, and a lot of other factors are also in play.
  4. You want to be one way...but it's the other way.
  5. BDE checking in...
  6. JFC, take half my shit already
  7. Revisionist history; it feels that way now. During the Big Noon show everyone was freaking out over how they were joking with him about him taking the job.
  8. For us non-regular boxing fans, how do you have a fight with "no KOs?" Isn't that like telling a racecar driver to follow a speed limit?
  9. The music is really well done as well.
  10. Wait Harden, Kyrie, and KD? How are there enough shots for that lineup?
  11. I have a sit-to-stand desk from Uplift Desk and it is awesome. Never realized how shitty it is sitting so much until you can work standing for part of the day, you just feel better. Takes a while to get used to but worth it and healthier.
  12. Isn't "Drunk Posts" kinda the free middle space on the bingo card here?
  13. Nope. But for however many $B they want now, you'd think their conceptual drawings could at least lie and have an A/C system before they inevitably increase the cost by 200% and reduce the coverage by 50%. That platform drawing also has a distinct lack of tents. Must of been drawn by an out of town artist.
  14. The funny thing about the Paint Chip Cuda is that it apparently never really existed. The marketing department did that picture but it was never a real car, until a few years ago this guy goes and actually builds it. I think it would have looked better if he did the whole car IMO.
  15. Lulz at outdoor station..."welcome to Austin! Go wait 15 mins for the next Blue line train in 1000% humidity!"
  16. If the team is winning, nothing. If we suck, and it's a handful of benchwarmers, nobody cares If we suck, and it's our top players, some grumbling online If we suck, and it's the majority of the team, a lot of grumbling online and donors withholding money and questioning CDC and administration to show institutional support for our cherished alma mater
  17. When they had the engine out they did the engine dyno and it was peak 354 HP @ 4800 RPM and peak 402 ft-lbs @ 4500 RPM. Haven't put the whole car on yet to see how it does. We'll see on the shroud - I ended up pulling the rad for the bigger one b/c the shop couldn't find a pre-mad shroud for the existing aftermarket radiator, they were going to have to fabricate one, and the expense of the custom shroud vs. the new factory-fit radiator and stock shroud were close, so why not.
  18. Cuda update! I finally got it back after about 7 months in the shop. COVID slowed stuff down, especially we had to wait on some parts longer than expected. Full list of what we did: Pulled the engine (383) out and sent it up to WCH Racing Engines in Midlothian for a full rebuild: bored, new pistons, rings, valve and springs, gaskets, cam - everything. They crated it and sent it back basically a fresh engine. While the engine was out, repainted the engine bay to match the body color - also did some minor metal work around the firewall where there was some corrosion Replaced the stock torsion bars w/ Hotchkis bars appropriate for the big block Replaced the brake lines with new stainless lines Replaced the master cylinder Pulled the steering box and sent it to FirmFeel for a rebuild, with tighter gearing Replaced the idler and pitman arm with a fast ratio arm - much tighter steering! Took a full revolution out of the wheel from lock to lock Added a FiTech TBFI system 2 new fuel pumps (one high pressure to feed the FiTech, one lower pressure to grab from the tank) New air cleaner Added a VintageAir A/C system Relocated the battery to the truck and installed a bypass switch for both security and if it's going to sit for any period of time New MSD distributor New high displacement water pump New Hedman headers, required to fit the fast ratio pitman arm Shaved the lip in the rear quarters where it risks cutting the tires since I have really wide tires on this thing Installed the MSD box to get it to talk to the factory tach, which we later found out doesn't work and needs to be replaced Probably other stuff I'm forgetting I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! However, we've now discovered that the cooling system can't handle the heat load. The prior own had a 22" crossflow radiator. My 1970 Cuda shop manual suggests that a 383 w/ a 727 trans and A/C comes with a 26" radiator. It's been a little scary - it cools find as-is when I'm going down the highway, holds between 190-205. But when I'm at a light, it shoots up - FAST. I was going to QT to get some gas the other day and it went up over 250, not good. When it gets that hot, the starter doesn't want to turn over on restarts b/c it's also overheated. So, I have a 26" Griffin radiator on order from Summit, plus a fan shroud, and we're also going to wrap the headers, and put in a hood to radiator and hood to cowl seal. Hopefully that will solve the heat issue!
  19. Wait, what? That’s some surly 1% shit right there. That’s not even a humblebrag, that’s a straight up brag.
  20. It doesn't get much hotter than this. The move from sweet innocent daddy's girl to drain-your-nuts and then back happens in record time in this gif.
  21. That's exactly the look my wife gives me when I go to HEB and forget to buy the thing she asked me to buy.
  22. It takes a pretty strong level of cognitive dissonance to rally to the defense of The Eyes of Texas because of tradition, while simultaneously railing against the Longhorn Band because...it's outdated? Hypocrisy much?
