@6:05 maybe the worst pass of all. perfect protection.  all he has to do is throw heard open to the far hash and it might be 6 and a game winner.  there is no safety to the far side.  he airmails it 10 yards over his and the defenders head on the near hash.

every high school QB can make that throw.

Yup, I wanted to slam my coffee watching that play.  O-line gave him all day and Heard had his guy beat and Sam wasn't even in the same fucking universe with that throw.  It has to be so frustrating as a WR to beat your guy and then see the ball over thrown by 10 yards.  He's lucky Duvernay made a highlight dive on his overthrow for the 1st TD.  He also kept overthrowing the WRs in the flats on the screens.  Those screens will never work when the WR has to completely adjust his route/timing over a wobbly erratic throw.

Coaches need to play to his strengths.  He's a fucking 250 lb QB.  Run him till he can't and get him some throws in the middle intermediate routes where he seems comfortable.  Mix in some deep throws to Collin on the outside.  If he gets hurt, you have the luxury of the most experienced big 12 QB sitting on the bench that has a much better winning record.

  2. This guy can’t hit a WR screen pass or throw in the flats to save his life.  He was avg to below avg on the intermediate and deep routes.  Threw 2 dimes to Collin but besides that, he should be an option QB like Collin Klein.  Dude has no business trying this sit in the pocket and reading defenses.

  3. Posting from 24/7:

    Burton:

”Guys, I was able to touch base with my sources.  I’m told that Herman has assigned the offense to do a book report about ‘essentialism: the disciplined art of doing less’.  The team has been coached so well by the offensive staff that the players are simplying trying their hardest.  This is an issue because we need the team to try less like Maryland.  If this team doesn’t match the minimal effort by Tulsa, the Longhorns may be staring a 0-2 to start the season.

I’m told that Keaontay Ingram was leading the book report due to his ability to read quickly but Herman decided that Kyle Porter should complete the report because he scored much higher on his reading comprehension section on his SAT.

I’m told that Collin Johnson has been trying even less in his blocking in hopes of being able to execute the WR screens.

I’m told Herman plans to cater Gatti’s all week.  The players should have no issues with cramping or fatigue on Saturday due to carb loading on pepperoni rolls.”

I don't think Herman is going to work out here, but we'd scare off a lot of potentially good/great head coaches if we fire him after year two. That kind of coaching turnover shows the program and athletic department are unstable.

That will not be an issue.  Patterson was a shitty AD, we fired him after a year and got CDC.  Herman is a shitty coach. There is a decent chance we start the year 1-5.  If that happens, the wheels will come off.  No potential candidate will turn us down bc we wanted to cut ties with an asshole underachieving coach.

If you’re going to play Sam then run his ass off. It seems to get him into the game more, I guess.  I don’t know the answer, but other than a play or two we looked like we don’t have an elite athlete on this team. Everything just seems like a struggle. Do these dudes even know the offense and defense? That qb they have is slow. What the hell is going to happen when we play a team that has a mobile qb? I’m thinking our coaches are poor at interpreting what this team can grasp.

This is what boggles my mind man.  This coach is supposed to be a QB whisperer right?  Ehlinger has always been inaccurate and a dumbfuck throwing the ball into triple coverage multiple times.  HIs strength is improvising and running the ball.   Yesterday, he had plenty of opportunities to throw as the line was actually giving him time.  Two options, throw to an open fucking receiver or run with it and atleast get 2-3 yards.  Instead he sits in the pocket and over throws a WR surrounded by 3 Maryland players.  I watched this shit happen 4-5 times yesterday.  He's a fucking idiot.  At this point we need a fucking identity.  Fuck... put Casey Thompson in there and run the damn option for all I care at this point.  At least feature your QB's strengths.  Don't ask a poor man's version, poor man may be too generous.... more like homeless version, of Tim Tebow to pretend to be a pocket passer.  If that's what you want, fucking play Shane then.

  6. CDC... bring over Gary Patterson.  We should have fucking hired him 5 years ago when we let Mack go but somehow figure out a way to hire shitty coaches that have had 1 good season at mid level programs.  Please hire a proven coach after you fire dumbass Mensa.

  7. It’s not the players.  It’s the coaches personnel decisions and their game plan.  As soon as we found a recipe for success working in the offense, they go away from it.  What have Tim Beck, Drew Mehringer, Warhime, Meekins accomplished in their careers that suggest they should be coaching here?  We hired a bunch of fucking UH assistant coaches and a retread Shawn Watson redux I’m Tim Beck and we’re surprised that they can’t put together a gameplan that doesn’t fucking feature Kyle porter.  Fuck these coaches and Herman.  Aggy has the balls to go hire a proven coach, we keep hiring unproven idiots from mid level shitty programs.

Yeah, I'm struggling to figure out who you took with your 2nd pick. Guessing that you might have taken Cam way too early.

    Elliot

    Hill

    Cooper

    Cam

    Ajayi

Devonta Freeman was the next RB on the board and I'm not too big on him with Coleman stealing caries.  I really like Hill's big play ability so loaded up on 2 WRs in back to back rounds.  Midway through the 2nd, all the decent RBs were taken.

  9. Honestly, Sumlin in his prime years is their ceiling.  10 wins is the best they can hope for during a great year.  They found a decent recipe for success with their spread offense.  Rather than going win a spread coach that can plug and play Texas talent like Chad Morris, they went with a overrated coach with a boring slow played offense.  Hmmm.... where have we seen this before.   Good luck to jimbo trying to find OL, QBs, WRs that will want to play in that slow offense once they see the disaster on the field.  In today’s football world where the NFL and every conference including the SEC is switching to spread concepts, aggy has decided to go with a ball control offense without the personnel to do it.  If they get down by 2 TDS in any game, they are fucked.

  10. Just had my 12 team .5 ppr draft

    QB- Cam

WR:  Tyreek Hill, Amari Cooper, Marquise Goodwin, Robby Anderson, Christian Kirk

RB:  Ezekiel Elliot, Jay Ajayi, Gio Bernard, Peyton Barber, Bilal Powell

    TE: Evan Engram

    K:  Tucker

    Def:  Baltimore

I thought I did decent in the draft but I'm projected to finish 2nd to last hah!

The moment you mentioned RHM as a criticism of CTH I immediately knew you didn't know what you were talking about. RHM, as good as he was on the field, couldn't even transfer to a DI program because his grade were so trash. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.burntorangenation.com/platform/amp/2018/5/15/17358736/reggie-hemphill-mapps-signs-trinity-valley-cc-texas-longhorns

His grades don't discount him having problems with mehringer.
