    I got a B in PHY303K with a 28 average.

I remember my first exam in PHY303K I got a 15/150.  A solid 10.  There was no curve.  That was my personal wake up moment in college that I needed to buckle the F down and work hard.  I worked every problem in the book from that point on, and pulled a B at the end of the semester.

in the 80s, the deadline in the College of Engineering to drop without academic penalty was Thursday.  Start on Monday, you had til Thursday.

This is what I remember also.  And they didn't just hand out A's, you had to work your ass off for them.  I don't remember any grade curving either.  You took the exam and whatever your grade was, that was it.  My son went to another school in ME, and almost every exam had a curve, like the exams were too hard (or something).

  3. Heading to Austin this Thursday with my wife for a nice overnight in a downtown Austin hotel, a couple of nice meals, then pick up the UT freshman daughter (no pix you slimeballs) for spring break.  I broached the subject of where should we try to eat, and the wife says "SXSW is going on so we won't be able to eat".  OK, so my question to Surly is - is this statement thread worthy or remarkably intuitive on her part?  Can you get reservations at this point for Thursday night?  Any recommendations downtown for dinner?

Went to a community meeting because I care. When the group was asked about improvements we'd like to see, a lady stood up and said she wished the train ran in front of her house. We are about 4 miles from the nearest stop at airport and lamar. Several other ladies nodded and clapped in agreement.

Groans from me and the other men in atendnence were met with stern /tone looks.

I LOL'd sooo hard at Greg's shot at the guy in the fur coat. Pure greatness with perfect timing. It was beautiful.

Galindo probably would have ruined that moment.

I saw the guy in the coat, but was distracted at the time, what was Zeke's take?

  6. Saw it last week for $3.50 at the bargain theater.  Loved the music and stage show part, but knowing the back story of what happened to Freddie kind of ruined the rest of the movie.  Live Aid segment was outstanding.  With the pervasive LGBT lifestyle currently being shoved in our face across media outlets, just felt like this was more of the same.
