  1. Another watch I would highly recommend although I don't own one yet is the Delft Watch works Oostsport. One of the owners of the brand has another line of watches that are much higher end. But he's a fantastic watchmaker and this is a great looking watch.

    About $800Screenshot_20230118_105256_Chrome.jpg

  2. Two brands I can definitely recommend I the $750-850 range are the Direnzo DRZ04 and the Orion Hellcat.

I also highly recommend the Formex Field on the adjustable strap - sub-$1000.

Another microbrand I like for under $1k is the Straum Opphav.

Finally, if you like a cushion case, I love the Duckworth Prestex. I think it's sub $750.

  3. Another great Austin brand is DuFrane. I've heard that he'll let you help with the final assembly of your watch. But haven't tested that out myself. Definitely on my list to add one of these. Screenshot_20230109_102554_Instagram.jpg

  4. While I'm at it, there's a microbrand based in Austin, Trafford Watch Co. They just had their Kickstarter for their new Crossroads. The Kickstarter is over and the watches are in production. I received a pre-production model, the Bluebonnet.

If you like squarish watches, this is a really great looking watch. The curved crystal is very cool and creates some really interesting effects with the light reflection. And you get to support an Austin-based brand. 20221221_214403.thumb.jpg.a869a6e6f7a47da63a7b625854110b9c.jpg20221219_122659.thumb.jpg.b4fa0a51847e49b07fb459af10c31347.jpg2022_1211_19064400.thumb.jpg.5c7578d97cdd7aab66797478c8a6ced6.jpg

  5. Figured this might be of interest. Bausele is an Australian brand that started in 2011. The watches are Swiss-made and Bausele does a lot to support veterans groups. Fellow Longhorn Nate Boyer is a member of their veteran's task force.

For their MIL-SPEC watches, they are assembled by veterans and 10% of sales go to veteran's support groups.

They are also big into sustainability.

Great looking, high quality watches and they support a great cause. I'm supposed to talk with them later today about becoming an affiliate. If you're interested in one of these Bausele watches, let me know - I know the US distributor.

  6. Call other BMW dealers and ask them where they send their body work.  I got rear ended in the Mercedes (minor) and the dealer recommended two shops locally
Yeah, I tried calling the place where I bought it and the one they recommend is the one that has a month+ wait list. I'll try the other dealerships.
  7. fender bender does not need to be a bmw dealer.  had very good work done by don mcgill toyota katy body shop, and they completely owned a nasty door ding that happened while in their custody. "that wasn't there an hour ago, i'll take care of it," said the body shop guy when i went to pick up the car.

unique on hwy 6 just south of buffalo bayou has good reviews but i've got a lot of blemishes in the paint job they did on a hood.
My concern is the rear sensor/camera is screwed up, so is that something another body shop can handle?
  8. The BMW repair shop for West Houston BMW isn't taking new cars until mid to late January. Need to find another trustworthy body shop for a minor fender bender repair.

Any suggestions? I'm at the Beltway 8/I-10 on the west side so would be nice if it was somewhere in the vicinity, although not a requirement.

  9. For those holding AMYZF, sure would be nice if something would start happening in first quarter 2023.

SURREY, British Columbia, Dec. 15, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- RecycLiCo Battery Materials Inc. ("RecycLiCo" or "Company"), formerly American Manganese Inc., a battery materials company focused on the development of novel lithium-ion battery recycling and upcycling technologies is pleased to review the following Company highlights from 2022.

    Technology Highlights

    • Commissioned the RecycLiCo Demonstration plant project, achieving successful processing of lithium-ion battery production scrap feedstock
    • Demonstration plant leach stage exceeded its design capacity, reaching 163% of the planned processing capacity of 500 kg/day of scrap feedstock
    • Scaled up demonstration plant testing demonstrated impressive leach extraction rates of over 99% for lithium, nickel, cobalt, and manganese
    • An independent Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) reported that RecycLiCo's methods have a lower environmental impact compared to other hydrometallurgical recycling and primary mine production
    • Achieved exceptional lithium recovery rates of over 99% from LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery cathode material
    • Granted patents for lithium-ion battery recycling in Australia, China, and Canada in 2022
    • Received funding from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance program to support a feasibility study on removal of high concentrations of fluoride from black mass

    Business Highlights

    • The Company received a range of production scrap and black mass feedstock from various sources to test in its hydrometallurgical process
    • Using this feedstock, the Company was able to produce high-quality battery material samples, such as lithium hydroxide, lithium carbonate, lithium sulfate, and cathode precursor materials for top-tier battery and cathode manufacturers, as well as lithium producers
    • C4V, an independent battery technology company, successfully used RecycLiCo's NMC811 cathode precursor material to assemble battery cells and validated the performance
    • Signed multiple Memorandum of Understandings (MOU) with undisclosed companies, under formal NDAs, to evaluate and develop strategic plans for commercial expansion
    • Cash on hand of approximately $20 million

  10. This is probably just outside the "affordable" category at $1200. But I've had a chance to test drive this Typsim watch for a couple of weeks and it's a beauty.

Certainly a Submariner vibe, but the dial treatment is fantastic and creates some cool visual effects with its disappearing silver gilt application for the text, minute track, and surrounding the indices.

Overall it has a very vintage-y feel in a new watch. You can also get a COSC-Certified version if you're an accuracy fanatic. 955a29974373e1c580f3ebc6af427b75.jpg6d0dcbdc0aee28a02b2e2a7128ffe75b.jpg

  11. I wasn't referring to any particular game but to the fact that only a dickhead like him would try to score there when your opponent, who has dominated you all game, has clearly called off the dogs.
This is what got Joel Klatt nearly killed in the Box 12 championship Gabe. Dropping back to pass may their own goalline when they were losing by 67 points.
  12. Not in Ameritrade either, which I'm assuming is due to the name change. A little frustrating because that has most certainly tempered a potential recovery after the CEO passed away last week, causing it to plummet.
