1. New Riff barrel picking was fun. #1 won. Looking forward to getting a bottle in a month or so.

Did they send you samples or did you come up to Newport? I did a barrel pick there and it was amazing, rolled out the red carpet. This was pre covid though.
2. Did you do some gift shop store shopping?
Just old forester actually, makers 101 was at a store in Louisville and the Michters was at the Costco near my hood when I was getting gas to end the day haha.
3. I have a bottle of the Smooth AMbler SiB Select, says "distilled in Tennessee." Does that mean it's MGP juice? (I haven't opened it yet, and honestly I drink for taste, but trying to improve the learning).
That would be dickel not MGP unfortunately
4. I actually work in Iowa, and we are only allowed to make 150 basis points, total, for the company side thru our national desk- which typically means stupid low rates. Like probably 2.625% on a 30. If you want to chat about it briefly I could break down your numbers for you, but if you plan on being on the place for more than a couple years it’s probably a win.
let me know and we can hook you up.
I'm actually in northern Kentucky, if you do work here too I would for sure chat.
5. It was just released at the distillery yesterday.  It's not here yet.
Today actually and done online, people are pissed about the site crashing but I got one so fuck it. I pick it up at the distillery next week. They are out being flipped in force in Kentucky from retail sales already though.

I would say OU, ISU, and KU are no votes.  Just guessing at this point.  This is a strange year when OU does not want to play football.

Id be shocked if it was isu, both the school and state have been very pro opening up.

7. What is retail? Bought it at a store, but the store is known to mark stuff up.
I want to say I picked up my last one for 40-45 but hopefully someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Nicole F if rumors are to be assumed, might go up.  Supposedly she had a hand in running off a few HG during quarantine.  I think her/Janelle would be a smart place to start.

What does running house guests off in quarantine mean? She make original choices quit?

9. Thanks. I hope Buffalo Trace lets some Weller SiB out into the general population of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Enjoy your 27 different recipes of Four Roses Cask Strength you son of a gun.

If the lettering was white instead of gold, Weller SiB would be the perfect bottle for a UT man cave. The label is a very close to correct burnt orange.

The distillery has been good for my four roses stash over quarantine for sure.
10. Yes. I caught Bert Orange while he was cleaning out his garage.
You dun messed up if that's all you got from his stash.

Hell of a day for you on a serious note.

Yeah there are these “lotteries” the flippers run based on the Illinois Lottery Fireball game (done twice daily). It’s kind of like Powerball where there are multiple winning balls drawn and then a final “jackpot” ball. What the flippers do is take their secondary price for a bottle (say $100) and then assign 10 spots you can buy for $10 apiece. Whoever has picked the winning Fireball number (0-9) for that drawing wins the bottle and everyone else loses. You can buy multiple entries if you wish to increase your chances.  However, in the posts they’re very careful to note that you don’t make any mention of money in the original Facebook post as I’m assuming that’s what the algorithm is looking for  .

Yeah, you can win a Blanton’s for a $10 entry fee, but you’ll need to be willing to toss away dollars in losing entries in the long run.

Full disclosure. I have participated in a few of these contests and actually won an RHF for a $23 entry. It’s kind of fun to play every now and then, especially when you see something that you’ll never have a chance to buy in a store, but it’s definitely a slippery slope where you can lose a lot of money quickly if you’re not careful. I have seen guys drop multiple hundreds of dollars on entries and come away empty handed.  But I guess you can’t win if you don’t play.

Great summary, but this is also how bottle secondary values are all jacked up. It starts out at Blantons for 10 a spot because the value is 100, but soon goes to 11, 12, 13 a spot because "its only 3 dollars more" and when they fill the value of Blantons becomes 130 because "fireballs fill at 13." Rinse and repeat over time until we get to the jacked up secondary pricing where Rock Hill Farms sold for 275 a bottle the other day. The gambling aspect setting pricing is a little ridiculous.

12. Big Weller Full Proof store pick drop at Total Wines here in DFW.   Of all days to forget my fucking wallet at home.

Judging off Facebook, it's definitely clear that full proof dropped
13. I mean, the conference sends it to you, it's not like aggy making a ring to commemorate a single game. We have a division trophy from 2010 when we tied ou and aggy with ou winning the tiebreaker. It's not like you throw it in the trash, it's in the trophy case for what it is, a division tie. The 1945 national championship claim bothers me, but whatever, it's not like we have much real history to be proud of in football.
Yeah all true. It's probably more about what al said with making a short field goal against a bad team to win it outright.
