Not sure if it made it to Texas but balboa rye is very good. Otherwise go with the rye and bourbon single barrelsIs there a bottle of New Riff worth picking up? Seeing it everywhere here and haven’t tried it.
- Straight Rye
- SiB Rye
- SiB Bourbon
- Straight Bourbon
- Peated Backset Rye- 1

Grabbed a 1792 12 year today.@billfromlaketravis you'll have to let me know how it is
-
Wow, nice score
You go to the wife’s grandmother’s house every year for thanksgiving, and it’s year number 15 that you stumble across the old box of liquor in the hall closet while looking for an extra cable for the tv. Lol

Yeah Mike Rose is questionable (I think he plays but at less than 100%). Sucks for us because he's been a beast this year.

Nice, I'll have to make a small batch to try it outI used the original recipe upthread. 500 ml Weller Special Reserve, 250 ml OG114. I’d say it’s a winner. Certainly better than WSR and much better than OGD114. I strongly dislike OGD114 for the record.
It’s pretty good, but I wouldn’t waste Stagg Jr on it. -
Do you add any Stagg jr in there or roll with just wsr and ogd114? What ratios? I've been thinking of doing this one soon.Poor Man’s Four Grain. Man, suffer through that neck pour, but it opens up well on Day 2.
I let my blend sit 2 months. -
Full secondary is 200 to 225How good is EC18? Is it tree fiddy ($350) good? -
These first releases are going for ridiculous amounts on secondary too, like 175 or so last I saw. One of the owners posts on my local bourbon FB group, who all went absolutely nuts trying to get all 10 picks released. They were literally sold out at all 9 of the releases at local places within minutes. The 10th barrel went to a Dallas club though I want to say. I got the nky FB club pick I'm in, but I haven't cracked it yet. I'm sure most of it might be sentimental but the group says the bourbon is excellent, who knows.Appears two dudes acquired the brand from New Riff and are tapping into some 5 year MGP to overprice. Similar to Old Scouts last release. -
My store pick bottle is really sweet, I need to revisit it though...i love this bottle, but it looks like rock hill farms fucked a blantons.
curious to hear how it tastes. when i get too far under 90 proof it's typically too sweet for me. -
Midtown corkdorks seemed like it had the most and best store picks last summer (2019), frugal Macdoogle was also a good one. We hit up greenbrier distillery (belle meade) to do a tour and that was fun. Saw Weller 12 at a downtown liquor shop for 175 but I declined that one. Corsair distillery was interesting and a block from greenbrier, but I don't know if I would recommend the whiskey. Yazoo brewery is pretty awesome and Tennessee brew works was good too. I'll try to think of some more.
If you have any other recommendations I am ALL ears
Additionally, if you know of any stores / tasting rooms in driving distance of Nashville please do let me know!
Edit: west end discount liquor seems like I scored a few things too.

Nashville honestly has good liquor stores too and I seem to always find good store picks there. Cork dorks and a few others have been good to me
Ha, well, actually the in-laws are meeting us halfway in Nashville. I’ll be spending a good amount of time across the border in Kentucky with my FiL just fucking around looking for bottles.- 1

The first barrel pick of Stagg jr is being raffled off by st Jude. Bourbon nerds have already bid it up to 32,000 and that doesn't include the cost of the barrel itself, just the ability to buy it!Huh?

Yup, terrible start to Baylor gameDidn't Purdy really play poorly early against Baylor -- like 3 interceptions in the first 20 minutes??
I'm sure that skews the 2020 stats quite a bit. No doubt y'all need better WRs right now... -
That sounds fucked up.
Oh you have one? Cool, just checking, see you later.- 2

I've made the basement into a "bar" area. I've got a huge storage area with wooden shelves for the rest. These are most of the opens with some I'm going to open when I get to it (barrel).

Over 100 open now and haven't ever sold a bottledrink more collect less -
I have about 275 or so bottles at last inventory in 3 separate stashes. Wife knows about all of them though because the stashes aren't hidden at all. She bitches a tiny bit when I come home with more but what can you do.

Hadn't seen anything and op scared the shit out of me

This.1792 12 year for me. And it’s not really close.
What a crap lottery though- 1

99.99 at the distillery. Cheapest I've seen it around recently was 93. Looks like I will continue to pass it up then.People are paying $90 for Rebel Yell 10? Jesus. I mean it’s pretty good, but come on. There’s MUCH better bourbon in the $40-$50 tier. -
Yeah I'm slightly annoyed retail went from like 50 to 90 in the past couple years but that's bourbon in a nutshell
I’ve enjoyed it, especially at MSRP price. -
I've passed this up for like 2 years strong but was going to grab one soon, not worth it?I haven’t posted Inna long time. I’ve stepped up my game a bit. Found a blantons in the wild at retail recently and feel great about it. I bought a bottle of rebel yell 10 recently and tried it somewhere else before opening. Now I’m somewhat interested in trading if anyone wants it. -
Ha yeah I would have too... The only one I've never had was the rye so I went with that, then I cheaped out for a 15 dollar pour of the 12.I would have gone 15 and then rye. But to each his own.
Tell me about Iowa State
