  1. Shep has surprised me. His head's being screwed on right was my big concern based on much of the apparent drama in the recruitment. He so far seems to be getting in line with all the other ducks very nicely. His talent gives him a chance to make a very big difference should this hold up. Lindberg is rather the opposite; he is unlikely to wash out, drop out, or fail out, but he is not as much of a physical freak.
  2. Offered, signed, attending with 2019 class = initial counter for 2019. If he is unable to play, we could medically retire him and get him off the 85 limit. If he does play and pans out, we could later apply for an extra year of eligibility should he RS one of his remaining 4 after 2019. Watching his recovery from afar (and through a figurative keyhole), I have gone from skeptical he would even attend UT to thinking he will some day see the field.
  3. I like the Karic take. If Lindberg projects to "serviceable swing guy in year 3," I think a good case can be made that we are better off not devoting a scholarship to him. That seems like a need that a GT could fill without eating the anticipatory years (and, if not needed, the later ones) of 1/85 of our stipend roster. Add in the phenomenal talent we appear to be in good shape to land in 21, and saving a slot for targets of opportunity is wiser.
  4. I wonder to what degree some of the “weak links” on our coaching staff add to the apparent great evals. It might partially explain their otherwise apparently excessive tenure.
  5. Puts things in some perspective
  6. It was, completely without the knowledge of the trainers, slipped into the players' normal HGH and DHT supplements.
  7. Aggy '22: Dixie Chicken Shit
  8. And branding adds to the perception (reality) of the value of the content. Quantity without quality doesn't move the ad revenue needle very effectively. Convincing a restaurant to buy Sand Cola from your distributorship after you drop your Coca Cola offerings isn't going to be easy or particularly profitable.
  9. T&P to Jackson. Richardson and Spiller both have talent to play RB for them. How far they drop from Williams' production will depend on whether a certain transfer eats himself out of the position as he was rumored to have done at his previous school, how well a true freshman adapts to what aggy is doing on offense, and how well a thin room stays healthy. Normally I would expect RB to be one of the better opportunities for a true FR to contribute, but pass pro with the OL they are running out there will take yet another hit.
  10. Looks legit. Someday we will be as good as USCe.
  11. That law is going to jump up and bite someday when the wrong DA gets a wild hair. For now, though, it appears to be a waste of ink on state paper.
  12. No one is leaving the big 10 unless/until that conference stops completely crushing the media revenue landscape. Cornholers may have been petty and stupid to leave, but they have fallen into a goldmine. They are in position potentially to make more from their rights than we do, LHN included, once they go to full share.
  13. Never let your scorn for aggy cloud the fact that PedState and Baylor are the worst of the worst.
  14. Only if he can stay close enough to be in-frame.
  15. Value is inherently subjective. The US government and others have variously had confiscation programs for, among other items, gold and weapons. What one chooses to use as an investment, a store of value, a hedge, or a medium of exchange is really based on assumptions about how likely certain events are. As the man said, predicting is difficult, especially when you're talking about the future. If you think civilization will hang on somehow, there are many non-survivalist-nut options. Otherwise, it almost doesn't matter. You can't possibly stash enough to make yourself impervious to raiding-- there are literally billions of other humans out there, with only a very small fraction needed to overwhelm your guns, cameras, dried food, water filter, off-grid power, etc.
  16. Welcome and Hook'em, young man!
  17. Am I crazy to think "corrections" should themselves be correct? Probably so-- I'm sorry.
  18. Is there some clever play on David Boren University that my unfunny brain refuses to dream up?
  19. Mookie has decommitted and then no-showed. We should neither pursue nor accept further contact. He would merely be interfering with a recruitment that had an actual nonzero chance of resulting in later on-field results for Texas.
  20. With his handle, I hope his brother isn’t named Thomas.
  21. Sounds like they want to see how well some disc material resorbs on its own as demonstrated by repeat MRI. Unless I have the Friday stupids, there shouldn't be any other change that a picture will show that will mean anything, barring a surgery.
  22. I think it is fair to ask, should we fail to land either Broughton or Collins, whether there is in fact any recruiting failure catastrophic enough to convince Herman that Giles is not suited for his current job.
  23. Fair enough. I don't pretend inside knowledge of how much each coach does. My impression, though, is that based on the "Jimmys and Joes" rule, a TE coach generally needs to bring more to the table than "developing" an electric HS RB into a receiver who runs like an RB after the catch. I will also grant that Beck really helped us with his play last year, however.
  24. We can only hope that Herman dares to look for another human being (could one exist?) who not only knows some coaches in the Houston area but can actually recruit and develop players.
