I wonder if alternating episodes could have been the better way to go?

I don't know how that would work, I haven't played TLOU2 much beyond the Joel death scene, so I don't know how those storylines would intertwine. But as a viewer of the show, leaving it where they did is incredibly irritating and unfulfilling. It's a 7 episode season, which feels cheap to begin with, but ending it in the theater with no resolution is annoying.

As others said, if it's 2027 when it comes back, I'm not going to be very interested in seeing it. If it kept on going from here with a few more episodes, then I would keep watching. The wait is going to ruin the shows appeal, which was already trending downwards.  They really needed the Abby episodes to save the show, but it might not get a chance.

I think part of the problem for some of us that didn't play the games is we actually liked the show in S1 independently of the games, and don't give a shit about the show following any sort of a script. Unfortunately the show has a master to follow and it's the games. Which I don't care about, at all.

Yeah, I don't care about the game script, but I understand they wanted to follow it. Just seems like it sucked, and doesn't work well as a TV show story. Maybe if they had filmed and released the Abby episodes it would work better, but it's a shitty cliffhanger. At least in the game you get to keep playing and continue to the end. Who knows how long it will take for S3 to come out.

  3. My main concern about this series is that Disney misunderstands the core appeal of it, like Lucas with ESB. Then they make a new series of "Young Luthen" in the style of Indiana Jones, showing us how he became a collector of antiquities before being drafted into the military.

  4. Yeah, that ending was underwhelming to be nice. Lots of issues with how things went down. I would have greatly enjoyed a more Ellie-centric revenge tour of just her going solo to Seattle, being a badass, hunting Abby and slowly picking off WLFs a few at a time, but specifically targeting Abby's crew. The scenes with her and Nora were some of the best of this season, I want more of that.

Using the cover of the Scars war to distract the WLF from knowing it was actually her making the kills would have been fun. They could have had flashbacks to Joel when he taught her things on how to survive, stealth and how to kill. Also could have had her string up and gut some WLF in the woods to make it look like the Scars did it to maintain her cover. It would have been interesting if her efforts lead to the WLF invasion. Lots of options if they wanted to make her a real hero-like character, filled with rage, avenging the one guy in this world who cared enough about her to save her and raise her for several years. Could have really pulled on those heartstrings with a line to Abby at the end like, "My name is Ellie Miller, you killed my father, prepare to die!"

Instead they chose melodrama with the Dina relationship, the love triangle, insanely unrealistic escapes, and a complete lack of tactical discipline and stealth, while sneaking around a heavily fortified city. Hard to get behind characters that do dumb things, have magical escapism, are caked in plot armor and don't feel like the world's rules apply to them. Too bad because this universe had a lot of great things going for it.

    Overall this season:

It's what I've been saying for literally a decade.  Knowing what we now know about James Harden, does anyone really think he'd stay in OKC to play third banana behind Durant and Westbrook?

That's not even accounting for the strip club differential between Houston and Oklahoma City?

OKC could have offered him more money keep him, it's that fucking simple. Simply pull some money out of their billionaire owner's pocket to cover the tax for a few seasons, and they would have been fine as other less important contracts dropped off the books. Instead, they offered him some low-ball like 4 years 52m, which would have put OKC just under the tax line. Harden he rejected it, and rightly so as he got 4 year 80m deal from Houston. So the Thunder traded him in the offseason when he had a lot of value, and got a good haul for him.

They also had the option to let him play out that last year on his rookie deal for cheap, let him prove himself, and then see if it's worth matching whatever he got as an RFA the next year. That's what I would have done if I were the GM, as they were a rising young team and another year of playing together could have made the difference.

Thumbnail.  "Golden Dome" is Trump's masturbatory fantasy of implementing Israel's Iron Dome air defense system, which is geared to protecting a much smaller landmass from aerial attack from low-trajectory artillery and short-range missiles, I.e. weapons fired by neighbors.

Attempting to implement it here is foolhardy, both because of the size of our landmass and that we won't be attacked with artillery or short-range missiles.

I expect it to cost an ungodly amount, and when that bill becomes an issue in a year or two, he pivots to protect only southern Florida with it, and call it "Cost Savings, Small Government!"

  7. This drone attack is so awesome to read about and see amateur footage from civilians. A couple more attacks like that and the Russians won't have an air force left. It will be interesting to see how Putin responds, they have plenty more weapons to use. We could be in for a wild escalation over the next few days.

  8. The FAA didn't like his show, and he got a long interview on CNN about it. Pretty funny in the Nathan-way. I don't believe Wolf for a second that he watched the show.

Well kat was just standing there and siakim just sat down in front of him I donno. Phantom call.

Yeah, I agree, I just thought if you were gonna call a foul on that play, thinking KAT pulled him down might make some sense.  Hart was barely into the paint when they blew the whistle, not much contact at all.

  10. I didn't want to read this thread until I finished season 2, and wow was it worth it. What an incredibly good show, the best of anything Star Wars since 1981. Well done characters, motivations, acting, pacing, direction and beautiful settings that didn't overwhelm you with CGI. Everything you could ask for in the "how did the Rebellion come about?" series. I love the feeling of the hopelessness and tension in many of the scenes.

Great intrigue throughout, lots of unknown outcomes and unexpected twists, excellent weaving of multiple storylines together without getting hung up on a single one. Even the villains were likeable in the sense that you understood their motives and what drives them. I loved seeing how the ISB works and how they plan and execute their tasks. The actors were great, excellent casting choices, and Mendelsohn was absolutely perfect. He has a gravitas about him that was took over every scene he was in. Dedra was a great choice too, so ambitious to move up the ladder only to be left humiliated, ashamed, broken and sentenced to a death camp. Just an incredible rollercoaster of a ride with her story.

I hope there is not only more of it, but more of this style of Star Wars, gritty, harsh, tense and lots of difficult situations with just a few glimmers of hope sprinkled in here and there.
