  1. Just saw Tears For Fears at Moody. Bought tickets last minute and was glad I went. Roland and Curt sounded great and can still carry their vocals 35 years after their MTV prime. I always have that concern when I see nostalgia acts-- that a singer's voice will have deteriorated so much that the band will have to do their songs in different keys, or add a bunch of backing vocals or effects, and the songs just won't come off with the same energy as the original. Wasn't the case with the show tonight. I enjoyed the songs from the new album, too.
  2. I think that show was last month at Moody.
  3. Two observations: 1. Lots of white folks with rosacea; and 2. aggy has truly infiltrated the Texas gene pool with the Texas man displaying otapostasis and rhinophyma.

    Any TV for this?

Bob Cole is out as PA guy tonight; Principal Skinner is in.
  6. M83 at Stubb's was cancelled last night. Band came on a little after 9:00. Played instrumental intro song, Anthony Gonzalez then came out, sang one line on the second song, suddenly unstrapped his guitar and set it on the ground, and walked off stage. The band continued the instrumental part of the second song, then walked off themselves. I was standing near the sound board, watching the sound engineer, who seemed to be in a panic, so I figured there were sound problems. About 20 minutes later, someone walked on stage and said show was cancelled due to bandmember illness. It was a pretty strange string of events. All the concerts I've been to over the years, I don't think I've ever seen anything like that. Disappointed the show didn't happen as I was really looking forward to a fun Friday night show from a favorite band, but certainly hope Anthony Gonzalez is OK.
  7. Lazy pop to 2B and K looking. Down to last out. Pop out to 2B ends it. IU wins, 4-2.
  8. Good work by Hurley. To the B9. Horns need 2.
  9. 3 up, 3 down for the Horns. To the 9th.
  10. To the B8, no runs for IU. 4-2, IU.
  11. And another CS at 2B. Ends the 7th.

They had to add CITY (ALL CAPS) to distinguish this team from the other MLS team in St Louis.
  13. Regarding your original question about restaurants using big martini glasses— Most martini recipes I see fit in a Nick and Nora glass. The large V-shaped martini glasses are too big unless you adjust the recipe.
  14. You may be over-diluting your drink by shaking. The Martini is a stirred cocktail, despite the famous James Bond line about “shaken, not stirred.” I learned to make Martinis by watching a couple of The Educated Barfly’s videos on YouTube— Every Martini You’ll Ever Need To Know and Evolution of the Martini. As a fun cocktail project, I bought all the ingredients he uses in the Evolution video and did a history of the Martini cocktail night. It was a good way to learn my way around the Martini.
  15. Conspiracy theory time regarding ear-ringing noise level coming from stadium speakers: 1. Estes Audiology pays big bucks to be advertiser on jumbotron and ribbon boards in stadium. 2. In addition to receiving the stadium ads, for paying this big fee, stadium producers will crank the volume to ear-drum piercing levels. 3. Monday morning, Estes Audiology books appointments for potential new patients seeking ear plugs, hearing aids, and assessments for loss of hearing and tinnitus, a remarkable number of which attended these games. 4. ??? 5. Profit
  16. I got to my seat last night about 5 minutes before kickoff. My heart sank when I heard Bob Cole's voice again. I thought he was replaced after hearing the very professional sounding substitute PA guy a couple weeks ago at the UTSA game. Guess I need to keep answering the UT Athletics surveys and repeat the message that hearing Bob Cole's obnoxious schtick is a real beating.
  17. Baulk. Rhymes with caulk.
  18. Mariel Ruiz (pics somewhere above) from KVUE in Austin moving on to WFAA in Dallas.
  19. Well, that was a fun ending.
  20. Good lord. That pass fluttered out of Thompson's hand, but still gotta catch that. Frustrating. Leaving points out there.
  21. Looks like the ball was already moving out before elbow went down. At least that's what I saw on the replay coming out of the commercial break.
  22. Nice spin move for the first! Then fumbles. Was he down? Can't tell. Close but maybe out.
  23. Oh, boy. Misses wide open Worthy in the corner. Ugh.
  24. Laughing. Sign in the stands... Utter Trash
