  1. Man, so sorry and I know what you are going through. My Mother in Law, who was an amazing mother to me and an even better Grand Mother to the kids, passed two weeks ago (fuck cancer). I am loading up now to head to the funeral in Dallas which is tomorrow at the Veteran's Cemetery there. My son and me were able to go up and spend a few hours in the ICU with her and all we did was talk Baseball. She could not speak, but she could follow the conversation.

She loved the Cubs. I mean LOVED THEM. But she followed the game. Every morning starting spring training through the World Series my day started with chatting with her about the previous day. I will miss that quite a bit. Baseball was a bonding thing for us and it will change the way I approach the game as a fan forever.

    Love ya Kay. Hook Em!

Liverpool also have 3 positives right now. Fabinho, Virgil Van Dyke, and Curtis Jones. Just going to try to enjoy today's match because it feels like we're looking at an empty festive fixture season.

Yeah, and that is going to suck. I love the holiday push.

asshole upwind neighbor was cutting/clearing cedar the other day. From the road, I could see a sideways cone shaped cloud of cedar pollen going straight from his chainsaw to completely encompassing my house.

If I killed the guy, y'all think a jury would let me walk?

If they are Texans then yep. Kill all cedar, but at the right time of the year.

  4. Just received this. Daughter still has 2 more finals.

    Dear GW Community Members,

This week, our testing program identified a significant increase in positive COVID-19 cases among members of our university community.  While these cases are not severe and vaccination continues to provide strong protection, it is critical that we act to limit the further spread of cases. In addition, according to the CDC, the Omicron variant is spreading more rapidly as compared to other variants.

Effective immediately, all in-person social gatherings and events are cancelled. In addition, exams scheduled for Friday, December 17, and through the end of the semester will be held virtually.

These actions are consistent with our foremost priority of protecting the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff.

Students, faculty, and staff will receive more detailed information soon, but we want to share the below guidance with you now:
    • Faculty have the option to begin offering virtual exams before Friday.
    • Eating is restricted to dining areas only.
We understand that this news comes at an already stressful time during finals and other scheduled end-of-semester activities.  At this time, we have not made any changes regarding spring semester.  We will continue to monitor COVID-19 transmission among our community members and in the region and will update you with more information soon.

There's a flu like illness that's going around with Covid.  I tested negative multiple times but had a pretty shitty flu like illness.  Ears hurting like hell etc.  Trainer and a couple friends tested positive after dinner last Friday.  Wife got symptoms later compared to rest of us and just tested negative today.  I will say the covid cases seem to breaking right through the vaccine on many people but the people we saw that got it really bad were unvaccinated.

Anyways, great times with not just covid but some other nasty shit circulating.  Our holiday party Friday.  Let's see how that ends up.

In Texas we call that shitty Fall allergies. They have been kicking my ass. Tested negative yesterday (have to go to a funeral with lots of Olds) and wanted to be safe. But damn I live in a cloud lately.

yeah, people buy houses that are too fucking expensive.

Wish I had a dollar for every time someone came to our place and had this "i thought it'd be bigger" expression on their face. We don't buy expensive cars either.  My income damned sure didn't start out above average, but it now is significantly above it.  I didn't change my spending very much though.

Measuring the equation in your example by "averages" is anything but an absolute indicator of AVAILABLE wages, as well.  people today are making trade-offs versus maximizing their incomes.  That's fine with regard to quality of life choices, of course; but it skews the living fuck out of this argument overall.

I was raised with Want. Vs. Need. You want a McMansion, you need a home. If you can do it great, but so many believe they MUST have more than they need.

I was unable to see the game this year, but I saw the the run by Fagot on that unintended fake. That was awesome to see and his interview after the game was just pure joy from him. I am happy for that young man. What a lifelong memory he will have to tell people.

And will make him an Admiral.
