  2. Where is that law and/or rule written? (Devil's Advocate argument) "Why must I prove my gender to you? You're denial is a denial of my humanity."
  3. What if it's the difference between you having to pay $200k for a college education or not? Again, how are you going to be able to keep men from self-identifying as women and then keep them off the team? The Olympics moved to testing testosterone levels in women and that got roundly criticized.
  4. Who said the person doing it was actually trans and not just a person working the system? You don't think people work the system all the time? How could you keep this from happening?
  5. I am not saying this sarcastically, but seriously. We're using amended birth certificates as our proof of sex now? If Joey gets cut from the basketball team and wants to become Jane to play with the girls, all he has to do is pay the $10 fee for an amended birth certificate and their is nothing that can be stop her from playing with the girls? In this scenario, how can Title IX continue to last?
  6. Title IX is specific legislation around the rights of women in education. If a court rules that gender can no longer be legally determined, would that in effect end Title IX?
  7. With the Gavin Grimm decision today in Virginia, the gist of which is that trans students are protected under Title IX, could an appeal of this decision eventually lead to a ruling that finds Title IX unconstitutional in that schools will no longer be allowed to discriminate based on gender (which Title IX allows for today)?
  8. 1. The NBA playoffs have been a snoozefest, one blowout after another on our way to yet another Golden State title. 2. Nobody gives two fucks about hockey 3. Nobody gives two fucks about baseball until the playoffs start. 4. Brady and Gronk skipping OTAs is good gossip (something I embrace) as we are all waiting for the fall of the Patriot dynasty and cracks have absolutely shown in the Brady/Belichick relationship. And yes, ESPN is looking to get rid of that albatross of a MNF contract and if this means they are cut out of the NFL, they may be ok with that. Does ESPN have a football first person leading any of their "talking head" shows? Maybe they do, but I can't think of one.
  9. Remember, she is telling people to shut up about an incident involving a black QB (Cam Newton) and a female reporter. But Beadle just can't help herself.
  10. The demographic that may not watch TV, but does watch viral on-line videos. You do know that's what late night TV is, right? Just a bunch of schmoes trying to go viral because nobody is watching live. If you're ESPN, you're a fucking TV show, not PBS. You're only job is to sell what people want to buy - or more importantly - what people want to forward to their friends via social media. So, if that's a Mets pitcher melting down as a Patriot WR cucks him, so be it. If that's a crazy Irish cage fighter going all fucking nuts on a bus, fantastic! Not only is ESPN not getting the views it needs to sustain the contracts they signed, they also are not creating viral content that anybody wants to watch. "The bubble headed bleach blond comes on at 7am and that chick better fucking tell me about a Brazilian super model getting cum drenched at the Met Gala while The Dark Knight skulks in the corner with a fucking gleam in her eye. It's interesting when Irish cage fighting morons die...give us dirty laundry."
  11. Where is that coming from? Hell, Hillary couldn't even articulate why she wanted to be President other than to be the first woman. Read Shattered, a book written by two Clinton sycophants who were dismayed at how little of message she had. What were Hillary's credentials? 1) She was First Lady? Who gives a shit. Her husband would rather fuck pretty much anything else than her, so she fails as a wife. 2) She was a NY senator after living there for 6 months? She fucked that up too. She voted for the Patriot Act (twice) and the Iraq War. She can go fuck herself, which the Dems told her in 2008 primary. 3) Hillary has both a "private and public position" on things. 4) Her handling of classified documents would have gotten other people thrown in jail. 5) She was a Secretary of State? LOL. Whatever your take on Benghazi is, that Hillary couldn't read a map and got an Ambassador killed. They had already attacked the consulate in April, attack the ICRC in May, blew a hole in the consulate wall in June, tried to assassinate the British Ambassador 4 days later and attacked the Tunisian consulate 8 days after that. Holy Hell, Hill-dawg, MAYBE, just MAYBE, you want to withdraw Stevens until things cool down a bit. https://nypost.com/2016/09/27/hilllarys-time-at-state-really-was/ I get it, you hate Trump. But to act like Hillary Clinton deserved to be President is a fucking joke. Who cares how much experience a person has if they are always failing?
  12. Not at the current financial number and the NFL isn't in the habit of taking a step back on revenue for a premium night of TV. You compound that with how worn the relationship between ESPN and the NFL has become (it's not a coincidence that the NFL gives ESPN crap Monday games or that they gave Fox proper the right to show the 1st & 2nd rd of the draft), I think it's going to be extremely hard for those two to be in business 4 years from now. And again, I think ESPN views the NBA/MLB as year round sports, so they may not think they need the NFL as much as the NFL thinks they are needed.
  13. I followed the Get Up! saga closely from pretty much the moment rumors started circulating about the end of Mike and Mike until now and the disaster with this runs deep. 1) Something that's not getting much talk is just how much internal pressure having a set like the one they have off of Pier 17 in NYC. Nobody and I mean, NOBODY wants to live in Bristol/Hartford. With the salaries ESPN pays up front talent, all of them could afford to live in Manhattan, which is a significant increase in the quality of life factor. So, to see a brand new show get such a plum set, you've had others (namely, Stephen A.) clamoring for a relocation. My understanding is that they do have room for more than one show, so which shows get to go and which will be left behind will also create problems for ESPN. Nobody wants to miss the last flight out of Saigon. 2) To those mentioning the lack of diversity in knowledge of the hosts, this is not without design. ESPN is going to get out of the NFL business the moment the current Monday night deal expires, so pushing the NBA (and MLB) year round, allows for them to stay topical. Look for ESPN to become the NBA/MLB network on steroids in the next decade as they bet heavily on the demise of the NFL. Another factor, all 3 hosts are over-40 and for a network trying to stay relevant to a younger audience, this factor alone surprised me. I thought for sure that Katie Nolan would have been the co-host, but apparently, she doesn't like doing anything live and didn't want to get up that early (they have to be on set every morning by 5AM EST). Still, Jalen Rose has no connection to the players today and he's not funny enough or a large enough personality to be a voice from a bygone era. Greenberg is even worse than before. Previously, he could be Mr. Switzerland or simply side with the popular opinion and let Golic do the heavy lifting of being contrarian. But in Beadle and Jalen, he has two people who have ZERO interest in saying anything controversial about a major sports figure lest they lose access. 3) Cord cutting is an issue, but live sports still does a solid number on ESPN, so now they are just trying to find ways to fill the empty airtime. 4) And the biggest miss? If you're going to be in NYC, let the city work for you as more than just a great backdrop. Case in point, why did ESPN not have cameras live at the Barclays when Conor McGregor went on his rampage? It was known he was flying in and going to crash the weigh in, why not be there - camera in hand - in the even something crazy goes down. Well, since it did, all we have are crappy phone vids/images instead of high dollar ESPN equipment. NYC always provides. Here's another one, Matt Harvey thinks he's dating Adrianna Lima until the Met Gala in 2017 when she talks weekend flight Julian Edleman with her to the event. This causes Harvey to flip out, he misses a throwing session, shows up late for a start and his Met death spiral has officially started. Is ESPN willing to report this type of stuff? If so, they can stay relevant, but if not, why be in NYC at all? tl/dr? They call John Skipper "John Sniffer" for a reason.
  14. Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
  15. MMQB used to be a Monday must for me as well, but my interest in it waned greatly during the 2011 lockout. At that point, it became clear that Peter King was entirely in the bag for Goodell and the owners and that access to that group (and coaches) meant more than at least presenting an understanding of the players' side. When it went to it's own website, he hired people that never grabbed my attention. Jenny Vrentas, Albert Breer, Robert Klemko, etc, just never wrote anything I remember or even had a headline of an article that I felt like I had to read (I know lead writers and copy writers are two different things). The site was always randomly playing video at loud volumes, so I ago muted the site, so anything said that may have been interesting, I missed that as well. I hated how King set himself up as that arbiter of all that is holy about the NFL Hall of Fame, but then when he would get called on it by other people in the media, he would immediately hide behind, "don't blame me, blame the people who run the Hall of Fame" as if he had no say in it. I agree that Ed Sabol (and Jerry Jones) deserved a place in the Hall, but it shouldn't have had to come at the expense of a player. King would never push for a change in the Hall that would separate contributors from players and always pushed back on people who wanted him to do so. Like most people in the media, King was unable to keep his politics out of it and he became the worst kind of SJW, the kind that takes up for both big money and the convenient minority. His presentation of the Kapernick situation was just down the line enough so not to offend the owners Kap is suing but also not hard hitting enough so as to offend the Kap supporters. Further, King's eldest daughter is gay and when she got married a year or so ago, he lost all perspective on party politics. No, Obama did not support gay marriage anymore than any Repub candidate. Gay marriage happened because of the Supreme Court and we need to give credit where it's due.
  16. I guess the "white people don't season food" thing is the new "chicken and watermelon" for racial food stereotypes? I am from the south and I love fried chicken, kool aid and watermelon (kool aid has been replaced with an adult beverage now) and I don't know any white people who don't season food, so I am a loss for how this became thing and why this is funny.
  17. Pretty much the funniest thing you will see on the internet today.
  18. I think cops get a bad rap on these type of cases (remember, one of the cops who fired shots was black), but in cases where the mic goes mute or the body camera amazingly stops working, you have to punish for that alone. This type of behavior leads to Sandra Bland type situations in Waller where the cop takes her off camera (dashboard cam) and then brings her back and arrests her. Maybe nothing happened, but when she ends up swinging inside her jail cell a period of time later, this looks really bad. Similarly, cops have stopped going into certain parts of Chicago due to fear of getting filmed making an arrest and/or because any type of interaction with civilians creates a mountain of mandated ACLU paperwork and the end result of this reluctance has been a spike in the number of murders. https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20160803/downtown/too-much-police-paperwork-blame-for-spike-murders-union-boss-says
  19. Rumor or not, I always hated the stories of Tillerson and his complete lack of availability to rest of the State Dept. You can't be Chancellor and not be engaged with people each and every day and that doesn't seem to be Tillerson's strength.
  20. John Malkovich supposed to make an appearance at some point this season. I am sure he will say "Fuck" a lot and maybe tell an underling to pay that man his money.
  21. This is expected to be the lowest grossing Star Wars movie of all time. Production was rife with problems - fired directors, reshoots, poor acting, etc. - but because I am a sucker, I will see it shortly after it opens.
