  1. Your point earlier was that all teams faced the same adversity so why would it deserve an asterisk?
  2. Well you guys have been saying how easy it was for the Lakers. How can it have been so easy but then when someone calls it easy to make a different point then it wasn't so easy.
  3. <===================== This guy did. They will have to S&T to get either of them. I think the Clips or MIL (particularly the Clips) wouldn't mind getting him in return if they know they are losing their guy or they could route him elsewhere for other pieces. If there is one thing that these last few yrs should have taught us its that things change very fast in this league
  4. Nope. Also as stated, Morey would give them multiple picks cause then he could get him without giving up Simmons
  5. I dont think you would have to add anything to trade him next yr. He would be an expiring contract at the absolute worst so you would prolly get a pick but he could also be included in the S&T that they would have to do if Kawhi or Giannis actually decided to go there
  6. To be somewhat fair, their Finals run was pretty darn improbable. Does anyone have them as the favorite to go back? If they were to get Harden while only really giving up Herro would they be then? And just so it's repeated I get why some would say that the he doesnt fit. I'm not saying its a complete no brainer
  7. Thing is they aren't looking for "a long time" if they are willing to dump all of that next yr for Kawhi or Giannis. I get both are better (although Kawhi comes with plenty of baggage of his own). So if they are willing to dump all that chemistry next season for a guy, I'm not understanding why its so unfathomable for someone to think they would do it this yr.
  8. This may be true as well and if Jimmy wouldn't sign off on it I wouldnt do it. Just saying I wouldn't dismiss without at least exploring it.
  9. Butler was always a Riley kinda guy though. Riley loves those kinda hard driving a-hole guys. Consequently the whole of the MIA org embraces them. Like I said, that would be my only pause in chasing Harden but if conversations with him and Jimmy make you think it can work, none of the players mentioned would make me think twice giving up to get a guy as good as Harden. Also, while some teams look at his 2 yrs left as some sort of hinderance, I look at it as the complete opposite.
  10. If they can make it work, I dont see why they wouldn't be a toss up between BKN, MIL and them. Obviously we dont even know if BKN will work but on paper they would be as good as anyone in the east
  11. Remember, Bam is already maxed and his new contract starts next season. They can still make a max slot work but it will take a little more work
  12. Only if Gordon is added. Harden for Herro, Olynyk, Iggy and Meyers Leonard should work EDIT: Leonard cant be traded yet but Herro, Iggy and Olynyk works.
  13. FTR: Jimmy just said "I like James. He's a friend of mine. I just want him to be happy" on the Jump Obviously he cant say more but he isn't saying nope.
  14. Given how much they had to give up to get PG, they kinda had to do it. That said, I dont think he can be as bad as he was in the playoffs again. Maybe a new coach, new role players and another yr together can get them meshing better and working better.
  15. Like I said, this would be my main concern. I would still explore it and discuss it with him if I am Riley
  16. I'm well aware of their cap numbers and I commented on the full deal. Having Harden could make it easier to get either of those guys next summer. If it comes down to it and either wanna go to MIA they can S&T Harden out if he isn't happy and this season isnt a success. Or they could just outright trade him somewhere else to make room for either. Remember MIA was WAY OVER the cap when they got Jimmy.
  17. The package offered is Herro and flotsam. Olynyk, Nunn and even Iggy are all replaceable. Herro had a nice season. Do you really think he has superstar potential? I don't. I dont even love Harden like some people here do but I make that trade every single time. I can figure out the rest later. My bigger concern would be Harden getting along with Jimmy and buying in to the Heat style of conducting himself. If he has them on his list he should at least understand that but I would sit down and discuss that he will not have the rope that HOU gave him. Riley and Jimmy are the culture setters in the org. If he is good with that what I have to give up is a second thought.
  18. They got rid of a lot of their bad deals to get Butler and Iggy last yr but they could make it work. MIA would be able to bring in120% of what they let go so that package would be very close not 10M short.
  19. I would consider some of the non-basketball issues but yep. Herro would be on the first thing smoking.
  20. The extent of James Harden's power he has long held with the Houston Rockets has come to light during his efforts to orchestrate a trade. "James Harden has had the right to say who comes and goes in Houston for essentially the whole time he's [been] there," said Tim MacMahon on the Brian Windhorst podcast. "He wanted Dwight Howard and then he wanted Dwight Howard gone. Chris Paul, then Chris Paul gone. Russell Westbrook. Russell Westbrook gone. He wanted Kevin McHale out and McHale was gone. We can go on down the list. "Like a lot of superstars, he had the right to say what the travel schedule was going to be. He determined the practice schedule. Got a couple days off, 'Well, James wants to go to Vegas, so you're not going to practice that day.' "Coming back from the All-Star break, first practice is voluntary because 'James needs to go cool his heels a little bit in Vegas.' "The first time the Rockets ever told James Harden no was 'No, we're not going to send you to Brooklyn when we don't like the potential trade.'" Harden reported to training camp with the Rockets several days late after making a pair of much-publicized stops in Atlanta and Las Vegas. "Their culture is whatever whim he had, that's what their culture was based on," added MacMahon." I was talking to a former Rockets staffer yesterday and he said quote, 'Yeah, he's going to act up, he's never heard 'no' before.'" TIM MACMAHON/ESPN
