Last night Frontline on PBS had a great documentary on how free money for the last 2 decades got us here. Must watch. Spoiler alert. This is just the start of a long overdue bill. Whoda thunk decades of free money and everyone and everything leveraged to the max would be a good thing?

definitely worth watching, thanks for the link

Of you have a joint account, you are insured for $500k.
It isn’t a cause for concern but you should consider being a bit wiser about keeping your money in one place. Or making sure you are insured for the value you really have in there.

Multitude of reasons. Their management team is bad bad bad. They have a similar bond portfolio. Look at this graphic:

If you have enough eggs in one basket, you either need to a) really watch that basket, or b) think about spreading the risk. I doubt that you can audit your bank enough yourself to be really sure of them, so maybe having an account at another bank as well is not a bad idea. Banks can and do fail sometimes. You should have already thought about this but SVB is a reminder that yes this does really happen sometimes. It would be no cause at all for panic or even fear though.

OK so #5 on that list is my bank Frost. I’m not a bank auditor. Cause for concern? I’m out of the market. What’s the best way to spread the risk? A dozen different bank accounts? Higher interest rates in MMAs if deposits are higher. Spreading it out costs quite a bit in interest. CDARS, but that limits me to CDs. Maybe just a number of 90 or 180 day CDs? Any way to get additional insurance?

making this post mere minutes on the other side of having a pathetic, pencil dicked conniption fit about rhianna reminding everyone that hot womens' pussies smell good on your finger and the horror of having to "explain it" to your sweet little angels is some next level, hilarious shit.

modern performer mocking an almost kind provocative halfway sexual act on tv?  OMFG, where are my pearls? the horror!

a bunch of entitled shithead rich kids that remind you of your dumbfuck self literally trespass and trash a dude's house and he's pissed?  what a pussy!!!

Is there a consensus on a good place to re-sole some Lucchese in the Austin area or just send them back to Lucchese ($350 quoted, seems high)?

Holy crap that’s insane. Are they the handmade/classics? At one time that was the only boot Lucchese would take back and work on, but man it was worth it as they would do a full overhaul on the boot. It was also only $199 back then too…$350 is……aggravating.

yes, these are smooth ostrich classic ropers that I got a hell of a deal on at Cavenders, for ~$350, so re-soling them for $350 seems ridiculous and it will take 3-4 months!

    Howdy!

This program takes your well-worn Lucchese boots through an entire inspection and refinishing process to ensure impeccable reconstruction and a like-new appearance before they’re returned to you. Please note that we reserve the right to reject and return any boots before the resole/restoration process after a thorough inspection. The reasons for a boot’s rejection may include but are not limited to the following: it has been resoled by anyone other than Lucchese, resoled more than twice (not enough leather on the vamp to resole), or if the leather or components have been damaged beyond repair. The approximate time frame for a repair is 12-14 weeks.

If you have any other questions regarding our repair process, feel free to respond to this email thread, and I'll be happy to assist you!

  5. If Texas and the charge was a class A misdemeanor assault bodily injury - family violence and the disposition was a successfully completed (dismissed) deferred adjudication, then it is not a conviction under Texas law or federal law. What is a conviction under federal law is determined by the law of the state where the conviction occurred. While a successfully completed deferred counts as a conviction for enhancement purposes (increased punishment for subsequent offense), the state of Texas doesn’t not consider a deferred a conviction.

And therefore the possession of a firearm or ammunition would not violate Texas law, ch 46 of the Texas Penal Code, or federal firearm law, 18 USC 922.

There was mention above of an order of non disclosure (AKA sealing). It is not permitted for family violence cases.

    Speedyrucker has the scent.

He’d be lying on a federal form - and he would also be breaking the law by being in a gun store.

Tell him to go to courthouse and get a background check done.

    Also wrong.
And you don’t get background checks at the courthouse.

If I know the state, exact criminal charge and correct disposition of the case, I can answer the question.
