Parra is a huge liability in this match. Just yank her in set 2 for Petersen

19-13 Minny. We are done in this set. Burn it

Seem to be done here in the 1st with a negative hitting percentage.

Never a good sign when Molly and Logan are tied.

Texas passing has returned to the norm from years' past....without Morgan O'Brien, Texas can't pass the ball and run its offense.

Furk.  I thought she was coming back?

Petersen subs for Molly in the back row...but yeah, if Melanie can't play her role as a DS, might as well put Heinrich in, but Jerritt won't do that.

Parra the next 6-rotation player?

I didn't know Morgan wasn't coming back.

My interest in the season just took a nosedive.

She decided to focus on Grad school.

That set took a weird turn….

Shit, I'll take the comeback.

Can't see shit captain, but coming back 8 to win is damned impressive against a team like Minnesota.

Texas wins set 1! Woah!

That's what she was recruited for as she was the youngest OH for the Mexican National Team.

But she doesn't fit Texas' system TBH with it's current hitters/blockers on the roster.

13-3 run!

Uggggh.  Seriously, though.  I was so spoiled by Morgan and I don't think I can handle a reversion to our back row/passing mean.

Maybe Iosia can grow into the role.

Yeah, Morgan was the difference maker last year...Never have I seen Texas be in-system and run it's offense so consistently...and I've been watching TX Volleyball for a very long time.

Need to entice more B1G liberos

Iosia makes great saving plays...but her passing technique isn't that great.  And Elliot isn't known for developing Liberos.

CC McGraw interested in a transfer maybe? 😂

Texas is good, Gabriel is bad

Gabriel's setting location has been questionable since the start of the season.

I'm really hoping Saige gets to play this year.

Holy shit stuffed

She’s not on roster yet. I know she graduated late from Utah.

I think they had to just about beg O’Brien to play last year, since it seemed she had accepted her career being over - she graduated from Illinois a year early, despite being the starting libero. Looking back, I wonder if Elliott knew she wasn’t going to return because he gave Iosia the chance to play libero quite a bit after Morgan got COVID.

It is looking like Parra is playing well in the back row this second set.

I wonder if Elliott will try the 6-2 at all this match

Who did Minnesota lose to?

Baylor. Also the commentator just said this was our first ranked opponent this year even though we played a top 20 team to open the season

Baylor last week.  And Baylor got smoked by Wisconsin afterwards.

Yep. They said USD was/is unranked which is a lie

Not sure if a 6-2 would be ideal.  Need really good passing from Parra and Logan all 6 rotations for it to work effectively.

Texas wins set 2.
2-0

So, is Cabello a flameout then?

She's setting better this year and offers a better block at the net, but she's still slow getting her feet to the ball when setting and her floor defense is meh.

I think she's gonna be Shook 2.0

Ya when she does make the right set its either low or out of rhythm.

Seems a little worrisome that a one-loss No. 10 Minny is giving us this hard a time.  Although it is the road.

Thing is, these teams that are better rounded get better all year on back row play, and we never do.  We blast our way through the Big XII and then  . . . the usual.

She was the next big thing at setter, no?

I'm pretty sure she was the #1 setter in her class.

She enrolled early in the Spring 2020 to get a head start, but then the pandemic happened.  Then she was injured all last Fall, and played sparingly last Spring...

Looks like we’d like to play four….not a good start to set 3

The MN libero is picking up everything

I didn't see the first set, but while Parra is missing a few, she looks smoother in the back row than Logan did at the same stage.

Calling them a “one-loss team” who lost in four on the road to another top 10 team is acting like they suck and giving us a hard time at their home is an odd choice.

Minny is a quality program, every year, and again, lost in 4 on the road. This is a good challenge for us
