Never bring a chainsaw to a lawnmower fight

UPDATED: BRISTOL, Tenn. — A fight between a Bristol father and son involving a chainsaw and lawnmower led to the arrest of the father on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.

Although the fight occurred on June 28, Douglas Ferguson, 76, wasn’t arrested until Tuesday because of injuries he suffered, which required amputation of a leg, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The fight occurred at a house on U.S. Highway 421 in Bristol, where officers found Ferguson, who was bleeding from his leg and head, according to a SCSO news release.

 

An investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division revealed that Ferguson tried to attack his son, who was mowing the yard, with a running chainsaw, the release states.

During the attack, the son, who has not been identified, defended himself by running over his father with the mower, according to the release.
