1) Who are your Top 3 Head Coaches in each of the P5 Conferences?

2) How would you rank the P5 Conferences for their ensemble of coaches from 1 to 5? (#1 is best... etc)

Big XII:

  1. Bill Synder Mike Gundy
  2. Matt Campbell
  3. Gary Patterson

I think it's still way too early to come back with meaningful analyses of Riley, Herman, and Rhule.  Frankly, it might be too early to do the same with Campbell, but his results have been so obviously impressive compared to his predecessors that I think he's fair game.

SEC:

  1. Saban
  2. Mullen
  3. Jimbo

I, again, think it's too early to meaningfully rank folks like Smart, Moorhead, Morris, or Pruitt.

B1G:

  1. Pat Fitzgerald
  2. Urban Meyer Mark Dantonio
  3. James Franklin

ACC:

  1. Dabo
  2. Paul Johnson Cutcliffe
  3. Mack Brown

Pac 12:

  1. Chris Peterson
  2. Mike Leach
  3. Chip Kelly

Too early to rank Cristobal or Wilcox, in my opinion.

Where would you put Babers in the ACC?

He's mid-tier in my opinion.

Obviously, Dabo is on top of the pyramid.  After that, you've got Cutcliffe, Mack, and Richt.  I would probably put Mendenhall next; I think he's cut from a similar cloth to Fitzgerald in the B1G.  After that, I'd have probably have Babers, Fuente, Doeren, and Taggart in spots 6-9 (without being particularly discriminate about who gets placed where), knowing that those four will have extremely high betas over the next 5 or so years (compared to the folks above them on the list).

If I'm spit-balling, I think Babers is least likely of the four to be a top three coach in any P5 conference in the next five years.

I think you have to rank GP #1 in the B12 and Gundy #2. Those guys have proven it over time and are two of the best coaches anywhere. #3 Is hard to say, I think I'd lean Campbell but I agree that it's hard to grade him, Riley, or Herman due to length of tenure.

I've always felt the B12 is not the most talented league, but far and away the best coached. I think that's still true even without Snyder.
