  1. Yup. 15-20 releases is at the top of the fleet most days and a few days some boats have done even better. Sailfish have been around in big numbers this season so far but very few marlin. It was the complete opposite last year.
  2. Great day on the new boat yesterday. After a slow morning with just a few sailfish we hooked a black marlin just before noon. Got the release 2.5 hours later. Lines back in the water and 5 minutes later caught a double header sailfish. Lines back in the water and 10 minutes later we hook another black marlin. This time it “only” takes about 2 hours. Run back in and barely make it to the marina by dark. Gotta brag on my girl she hooked both the marlin and fought them both the majority of the time. We’ve caught a ton of blue and striped marlin down here in 8 seasons, but those were the first 2 blacks ever. 6b4903cc-afd2-4bd3-8be2-093ca9413cba.mov
  3. Lol. My Shaggy fishing trip experience went really well, except somebody ended up pregnant. Troph even though your brother was there he wasn’t the one responsible.
  4. Yeah, in the end it was a no-brainer. The boat is fully loaded with every possible option and it was located in Costa Rica already. Really happy with how it all worked out. Also if anyone is ever in need of a boat broker for buying or selling, I can’t recommend Galati enough. https://www.galatiyachts.com This is the third time I’ve used them (2 purchases 1 sale) and there’s no one else in the industry that can compare. As I mentioned above we had a steering issue and couldn’t source a replacement part that would ship quickly. One call to Galati and 30 minutes later they not only had the part on the way but found it for about 1500 less than what we were able to find on our own.
  5. That is dead sexy. I was looking back searching for an old post and stumbled across these posts. It ended up being the best available option in my size/price range. Forgot there was a blonde woman in the sales video. I’ve been staying and fishing on the boat for over 2 weeks now. Still no sign of the blonde. Currently waiting on a new part to be shipped from the states because steering went out. Love boats!
  6. Made it back down to Costa Rica for the season about 2 weeks ago. Fished my new boat the first week and then combined my team with Game Plan and fished their boat this week for the Rockstar Tournament. Largest event in Central America and this year had 91 boats. It’s a two day tournament and we had an epic day on Day 1 totaling the most release points and winning the daily jackpots. Day 2 was slower but we still took home the second largest cash prize of all the boats. Really proud of my guys and our team. 8948038c-f9db-425d-bfbc-d30c33337769.mp4
  7. Wish they would have mentioned the price tag on that beast. I don’t really like fishing on boats over 80 foot so I can’t imagine I’d like it on that thing, but I wouldn’t turn down an invite.
  8. Fishing up there is not as good as it is further south but there are a few decent boats. The boat is really not big enough for 8 people but if it was me I’d fish with https://gamefisher2.com i know the owner of the Fish Tale II that Spaulding mentioned. I think they are down in Quepos now.
  9. I mean fuck it CDC just schedule incarnate word, trinity, and st edwards OOC every year. Georgia just lost to Bama. They are out. Texas vs Bama for the last spot. There’s a pretty fucking easy way to pick the team.
  10. Wait they are telling you the shaft is bent, how did they determine that? Vibration can be from the shaft which can also wear (you don’t necessarily have to hit anything) but could also be the engine mount, coupling, bent prop, etc.
  11. From the THT thread it appears that the anchor seized and the sea tow assist vessel broke the lines. And also at least one other vessel refused to assist because of the depth and weather conditions.
  12. LMAO at a spare anchor and a cell phone. I give up. You are correct it was incompetent idiots.
  13. How much experience owning or running these kinds of boats do you have? Anchor windlass will not operate since the fire suppression system killed its power source. Good luck getting someone up on the bow to pull the pin to manually drop in rough seas without getting someone seriously injured. If they even had time for that. Soft sand with that size boat you’re going to have a tough time even holding anchor if you do get it to drop. Unless you have some facts not in this thread then questioning the competence of anyone involved here is really reaching.
  14. 2 to 3 times that for a boat that big and nice just for planned stuff, and then probably an equal amount set aside for shit that just breaks.
  15. Fire suppression system shuts down engines and gensets- no oxygen in the engine room.
  16. I mean, my post you quoted I said it needs new running gear. What happened is the definition of a soft grounding with a boat that size. New props, shafts, rudder, trim tabs, etc. is a dent in their annual maintenance budget. Plus it’s insured. No big deal at all. Fire suppression system may be a bigger issue depending on if there was actually a fire or not.
  17. Hate seeing that. Fortunately that soft sand on the beach won’t really cause very much damage. New running gear and clean out the intakes and it’ll be good to go.
  18. Wish I was there but I’m rocking the Burnt Endz koozie down in CR.
  19. Yup. Costa Rica wants their share if you don’t do that. Funds go into escrow. It’s a weird deal where the seller’s agent drives the boat out and then you take pictures and video of the signing of the documents along with you coordinates on the GPS and a newspaper with the current date. Takes like 5 minutes then they hand you the “keys” to the boat and you get to drive it home.
  20. Did an offshore closing this morning 13 miles out of Los Suenos then got her home to Marina Pez Vela in Quepos this afternoon. Have no idea how 99% of the stuff works on this boat yet but I’m down here for about 9 days to start figuring things out. Name change can’t take place until the paperwork is done down here which may take a few months. In the meantime the old name works just fine for a CR boat. IMG_2595.mov
  21. So it only took us one game to get kicked out of the collaboration? Sounds about right.
  22. Not real sure why I’ve never heard any specific problems other than the fit and finish isn’t that great. I didn’t mean it had a Luhrs reputation or anything. It may be just that all of their previous models are smaller than what is needed in the Gulf and too heavy/slow for fishing down south. it’s an interesting concept in that you don’t have many boat builders producing convertible boats in that size range. As for Spencer, they are minimum 3 years out on build times and I don’t think will make anything smaller than a 70’ anymore. Most people love them but they built a few that were nothing but problems. The ones I have been on have been fantastic boats with a price to match.
  23. Yeah interested to see how that one goes. Serious fisherman in my parts of the world love Spencers but really look down on Albemarles.
