  1. Cannon doing more Cannon shit:
  2. They chopped up a journalist and didn’t really even try to hide it and the entire world basically ignored that, so no, they aren’t particularly concerned with appearances of impropriety.
  3. Never mind all that I guess: Alito must've had to take a shit or something.
  4. The Saudis did not give Kush $2 billion because they're confident in his business acumen.
  5. They already gave Kush $2 billion. You think they'd give a shit about another $500 mil to Trump? The Saudi sovereign wealth fund has nearly $1 trillion in assets.
  6. Anyone who doesn't think the Saudis and/or the Russians would gladly invest well into the billions on a 1% bet that Trump wins is a fool. The damage they know he'd do to America would be well worth it to them, regardless of whether he follows through on any specific promises. The problem as they see it would be that it will be hard to keep it secret and could backfire on them, not that it's a poor investment.
  7. Also they're lying about the context.
  8. When he doesn't sue for defamation, are you going to reconsider your position on this?
  9. Aileen Cannon, basically, not sarcastically: "How on earth could the divine Mr. Godking President Trump know he wasn't supposed to steal top secret nuclear secrets when he left office? He's just a lovely, kindhearted person who can't reasonably be expected to know obscure rules like 'don't steal top secret shit'!"
  10. You imply that we're fine with violent criminals who hurt innocent people and then whine when called on it that I'm being condescending? Have you tried not being a fucking baby?
  11. Oh fuck off, that's a bullshit mischaracterization of both your and our positions. You're clearly plenty tolerant of violence and even supportive of it against people whom you think deserve it. I'm personally not above the same emotional responses when I read a heinous story about some monster hurting people, particularly children. But I'm smart enough to comprehend arguments (and statistics and studies that support those arguments) that our violent prison system actually makes most offenders more violent and ultimately results in a more violent society than if we focused more on rehabilitation than punishment. Emotional reactions are not a good basis for sound policy.
  12. The real problem with forcing them to sell TikTok is who they intend to be the buyer: It's not mentioned in any of the stories covering this yet, but Mnuchin also got $1 billion from the Saudis back in 2022, so they'd likely be partners with him on this. I'm honestly less worried about the PRC using TikTok to manipulate and spy on the American public than I am letting a MAGA/Saudi partnership do the same.
  13. Lol, like you give a shit about people getting hacked.
  14. Before this started, about half of Gaza's population was under 18. So it's not remotely surprising that AI-targeted bombings with significantly loosened standards for what are "acceptable" civilian casualties as collateral damage would disproportionately result in dead children.
  15. Isn't it pretty well established that our carceral system is the cruelest of any first world country and imprisons people the longest and also has the highest recidivism rates?
  16. Bern, you fucking brilliant genius, linking to fucking sponsored content that is clearly labeled as such and has "sponsored" in the url, from fucking bitcoinmagazine.com to support your argument. This is some sort of avant garde performance, isn't it?

    LBGTQ

JK Rowling has been a rancid TERF for years, but boy was it still shocking to check Twitter today and see her doing some holocaust denial:
  18. Have you ever wondered why the "currency" that is sold to you as a tool for liberation seems to be most fervently championed by frauds and billionaires like Marc Andreessen? That's because it's literally the exact opposite of what they sell it as. It's not a tool of liberation for normal people, It's a tool for criminals and the wealthy (who are also criminals) to take even more money from normal people.
  19. A lot of Bitcoin transactions take over 30 fucking minutes to clear, not to mention the transaction fees. There's nothing easy about it.
  20. Propagandists for frauds, human traffickers, and CSAM distributors should consider doing what Imperial Japanese officers used to do when they would dishonor themselves.
  21. A lot of people tend to remember certain details a little differently from each other, but what Biden was clearly doing in that portion of the interview was using memories of what he knew to be contemporaneous major events to try to orient his recollection, which is literally how pretty much anyone remembers anything that happened a long time ago. It really cannot be overstated how fucking normal that is for people of all ages to do and for Hur to mischaracterize that the way he did is just some incredibly scummy behavior. He should be pelted with rotten produce every time he steps out in public for the rest of his life for that shit.
  22. Are you aware of the things they're saying and broadcasting on Israeli television about their operations in Gaza right now?
  23. For those who aren't lawyers, saying shit like that in a deposition is a tactic a ton of lawyers use to increase stress on a deponent without seeming like you're being an asshole.
  24. Did you miss the recent convictions of SBF and CZ? How about 3 guys recently charged in a $1.89 billion fraud case? Or the guy recently convicted of $300 million in a securities fraud case for running bots to manipulate a cryptocurrency's price? Maybe this will help explain things a little better. I'm pretty sure I posted a link to this back when the crypto collapse was beginning (though can't find the post), but the ultimate problem with Bitcoin is that it is a negative-sum ecosystem: Because Bitcoin has no actual inherent value and it is a negative-sum game, those who hold a lot of Bitcoin have to constantly lie about its value to bring in new suckers. Basically, every normal American who thinks they're just getting into another investment similar to stock in a publicly traded company is the mark at a poker table sitting down to play with nothing but sharks and who is bound, sooner or later, to lose everything they've bought in with. If you're lucky, that shark is just some asshole who wash traded his shares to falsely inflate their value by a few thousand percent. If you're unlucky, you end up accidentally helping some asshole monetize his distribution of child sexual abuse material or his literal kidnapping and enslavement of people in places like Cambodia.
