  1. I am an expert on Peacock. The wife tries to watch reruns of old shows on that app on the TV in the bedroom. She complains that it is the worst TV app to get around in and to find programming. She is also upset that Days of Our Lives has been preempted by the Olympics. She blames me for it. Every day. If you are single and reading this, you are a fucking idiot if you get married. I am going to log off and kill myself.

  3. There are so many poorly drawn conclusions, bad takes, tedious lamentations, and misinformed accusations on this thread that it's hard to fucking keep up with anything right now. And that doesn't even include the one guy showing up to tell us all that he's about make $50million in a SPAC. Bizarre. Just fucking stop for a minute. Christ. All of the low energy, low information whining of "won't somebody please do something!!!" as it pertains to NIL, from people not actually doing something, isn't helpful. A group of us have been working on a better understanding of NIL and Texas. What is it? What can and can't be done? How does the process work? What's the optimal solution? What can be done now? Etc. We've pulled together resources if someone is serious about learning more and not going to post or pass shit randomly on. This goes beyond the semi-anonymity of a bulletin board. We've come far enough along that I can at least provide some informed thoughts and some direction. @immamac is going to provide a resource center or marketplace to help out. Here's the net-net ahead of that. 1) There's interest in building something long term that could bring players and money together every year into perpetuity. We've built up damned near a completed business plan on it and it's circulating beyond this board. The big problem is, someone would need to run it. They'd need to have a history of operating a company, experience, preferably, with UT and the AD, and a start-up background/connections. They'd also need to be an extrovert because of the nature of the beast on this one. I can't do it. I'm way out over my skis right now taking on other stuff and this is tipping me into a tumble if I go any further. Got a blueprint for someone who could do it, and likely access to capital, to boot. DM me if you know someone that might be a fit. Otherwise, this sits on the shelf until potentially forever, which is fine, I guess. 2) In the meantime, other shit can be done, leveraging the creative work and research that's already been done and some of it is just waiting there to be taken. Here's the thinking: A) Agencies are entering the fray. Sports agencies and agents, marketing and ad agencies, you name it. They're more or less necessary. Sports agencies are building marketing arms, and they'll take care of the big names, but less than a sure thing is likely left in the cold. Hudson Card has an agent already. Montana Fouts has an agent. The big names aren't the worry. Anyway, we have access to an agency that anyone here could use. If you want to get money to players in any form, we could do that right now. We have boilerplate influencer/sponsor contracts, teams with digital, event & PR, social media, branding, etc., expertise. Feel free DM me. B) The process is as follows: company/entity reaches out to player directly, makes an offer and tenders a contract. Players signs contract. Contract goes through compliance. If approved, player lives up to deal in the contract and the player gets paid. If the nonsense with compliance gets fixed, this is all fine. The premise of the program trying to claim that burnt orange is in scope of what's off-limits is utter fucking bullshit and anyone claiming that up to Plonsky and Crystal Conte should be fucking fired if they attempt to continue to parrot that. Fucking wrong. C) Autographs don't have to go through compliance. Anyone can organically provide something for a player to sign and the player can then get paid. This is protected in the state legislation. So, if you take a napkin, or a jersey, or a woman in a tank top up to a player and pay him $1 or $1million to sign the napkin, jersey, or woman's cleavage, you can do it. D) There are over 50 use cases we've already worked through. We want to start putting them to use and show the credibility of them in action. We have access to players on every team within the Texas realm. We can reach whoever we need. If folks want to do something, let's discuss. Feel free to DM me. E) Opendorse is trash and will take 15% of any deal conducted through it. The UT leadership in athletics sending players there to fend for themselves is fucking negligent and someone should be fired for their insouciance. There is nothing there for us or players to leverage. Ignore it as a resource or hope. F) A major recruitment right now has some ability to be influenced with NIL at Texas if something gets done. Specifically to the point about it not being an issue for Hudson Card or Bijan Robinson, both of whom will make well into the 6 figures this fall (this is confirmed), it's about other positions. In this case, if DBs at Texas are making bank, that puts the Texas NIL argument for this signing period up against anyone for at least one key target Texas is in danger of losing. Other entities are going to do what they can as well. Surly is working on something and mac or @RGBIII can feel free to elaborate. But yeah, pass the word, pass around the hat, whatever, shit can get done asap if people want to put their money where their mouths/keyboards have been up to now. DM me, DM @SydneyCarton, happy to help or point in directions. Sydney can post more on types of NIL use cases that anyone here can explore and we should. I'm tired of typing.

  4. I just caught up for 4-5 pages and I'm pretty sure I'd have been better served splashing acid into my eyes and having a donkey kick me in the balls. There are some fairly intelligent people in here who absolutely don't understand recruiting, and more importantly exactly what we're looking at in regards to this fucking dumpster fire. And of course there's just a huge chunk of rock-headed fucking dipshits who probably shouldn't be allowed to drive or handle sharp objects. This program might be as fucked up as it's been at any point in the past 10 years, and shockingly it's for wildly different reasons than it was fucked up during Charlie Strong. There are real problems, and let me be the first person to tell you that the BEST CASE, short of some big boosters suddenly getting off their asses and independently cutting some checks, the best case for the NIL to be in serviceable shape is probably maybe Spring 2022. So that cavalry isn't coming any time soon. Let me put it another way. Texas absolutely now HAS to win on the field this fall, and probably look pretty good doing it. Some folks have said that all along, but if Sark had recruited just average and closed on half the elite prospects we were in on a 6 weeks ago, and build momentum, he'd have probably had a good shot to be fine and eventually excel here. But now he fucking HAS to win. The good news is his staff is good and there's talent, and Hartzell and Eltife are motivated and get it. But we didn't have to be this far behind the 8 ball with only one way out. It's an unforced error, because of course it is, We're Texas.

  6. Doomsday preppers weren't prepared for shit - they couldn't handle a fucking pandemic. They bragged about their 10 year supply of Jim Bakker buckets of mashed potatoes, their impressive armories, their expensive bunkers with thousands of dollars sunk into air filtration, all of their solar panels and off-the-grid stuff. And it turns out that a simple piece of cotton on the face, being told that Chili's was take-out only for the time being, and cutting off access to Super Cuts was all that was needed to bring these motherfuckers to their knees. Not the fucking Russians. Not nuclear war. Cutting off access to Super Cuts and dining in at Chilis, and a little piece of cloth, and these motherfuckers crumple to the ground in the fetal position.

  8. We're in Humble ISD and these jackholes were gung ho to open up at full capacity last year at this time as we were just coming off the summer spike. They made on-line education so incredibly hard for the teachers to do and terribly bad for the students that most threw their hands up (including me) and just sent our kids back to school by the middle of September. They did keep a mask mandate in place but didn't enforce it at all. The superintendent and school board are a bunch of right wing conservatives who when presented with actual science and data pretty much went "Nu-uh! That's bull crap fake news!" Every school board meeting they had in the fall was overwhelmingly attended (by those who asked questions) by parents like me who wanted better safety and health requirements. Every meeting ended with the school board finding some reason to ignore us. Now, here we are in the fall and they have said that positive tests will not be required to be reported to the schools. They are not requiring any kind of quarantine and of course, due to Wheels, there can't be a mask mandate. Houston ICUs are already seriously into 2nd level of COVID case load counts. Trends look like we'll be at 2,000 COVID patients in the ICU soon just for the Houston area. We've had 3 COVID deaths out here in the past week. One was a 13 year old middle school kid and another is a HS teacher at Summercreek (Atascosita/Humble area.) The other was 35-40 year old dude who was in decent health prior to dying. So, in conclusion, we're fucked.

  9. At what level? Our AD is great at fundraising, but is happy to sit back and not change the culture of the AD at Texas. See; Protect the Brand, Protect His Donations, Don't be Aggressive. He doesn't understand being an elite football program and what it takes. At a smaller level, our recruiting support staff is a horrible dumpster fire, and you can key that back to not pushing through Sark's first choice for the position, which is again on compliance (plonsky) which means it is yet again on CDC, who is always happy to take No for an answer until Hartzell has to get involved and cut up his dinner for him. Anyway, the support staff is fucking terrible. And unfortunately, there's little to no indication that Sark realizes this at all. But even if he does, you're still looking at a best case complete overhaul of his support staff after year 1, which not only isn't a good look, but is hardly a guarantee to fix anything, especially if we haven't fixed our fucking road blocks with compliance, see CDC. Throw in spinning our fucking wheels on the NIL stuff, which is literally to me is the most embarrassing development in the UT program in my lifetime and I don't know what to tell you, my man. Urban Meyer got one thing absolutely right: Texas needs an aggressive football only Athletic Director that's somewhat autonomous to CDC and focused solely on motherfucking football.

  19. Bama preacher went to Baptist camp in Oklahoma. Did not get a vaccine but did get covid and did get dead: The Rev. Wade Morris, an evangelist who spoke across the country, died Tuesday morning after contracting COVID-19. He was a guest speaker at Falls Creek Youth Camp last month. Morris spoke at the Christian summer camp near Davis, Oklahoma during the week of July 5, according to Brian Hobbs, Communications Director of Oklahoma Baptists, which puts on the camp. Morris, according to Orr, started showing symptoms of COVID-19 the week following the summer camp, which hosts about 4,000 participants each week. Morris developed a blood clot in his lungs following a diagnosis of COVID-19. Braeden said he and his family also tested positive for COVID-19 after the Falls Creek camp. His father was hospitalized briefly as a result. https://www.newson6.com/story/610a0b765e936a0c51b18408/falls-creek-guest-preacher-wade-morris-dies-after-contracting-covid19

  20. So I just tested positive. For those not keeping score at home, I got J&J in March and a supplemental Pfizer last Monday. Started feeling off on Friday (after extremely mild post-vaccine reaction) and realized I couldn’t smell or taste anything. Two vaccines and delta (I’m assuming) don’t give a fuck. Probably still to early for Pfizer to have any effect, but still. Have felt achy and sinus pressure for a few days, but nothing too bad. Add me to the case pile. Hopefully not the hospital or body pile.

  22. "A lot of people now are very concerned about the predatory nature of the SEC." So was it predatory in 1978 when the PAC 8 added Arizona and Arizona State from the WAC? Was it predatory in 2010 when the PAC 10 added Colorado from the Big 12 and Utah from the WAC? Is it predatory now that the PAC 12 is looking at possibly expanding? It's baffling that these people have high paying and high visibility jobs.

  25. I don't believe him. I bet he asked all kinds of questions about covid before he got sick. It's just that the questions were dumb as fuck. There's a once in a century global crisis going on, and you choose to get all your information about it from a gaggle of random or acquainted assholes despite having a universe of knowledge at your fingertips if you'd just open a new browser tab. Boggles my fucking mind.
