  2. Probably Gen-Z. It really was a pathetic attempt at throwing shade. What he really should have done... ... was dig up one of your old posts - and then call you out for your aggie-like behavior of calling the coach Sarklossian.

  4. April 15 was Hugh Thompson’s birthday. In light of recent focus on war atrocities, I thought this would be a good time to give some deserved attention to him. He was a warrant officer (kind of hybrid enlisted/officer; feel free to provide a better explanation) and a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He was flying, with his crew, over My Lai with the massacre underway. He landed, and stopped it, basically by running and yelling, “What the hell are you doing? Stop!” (He lacked the rank to swing action just by his presence). I think he showed great moral clarity and courage. It’s one thing to recognize an atrocity thousands of miles away, and tut tut. It’s another to run in front of armed men actively engaged in it and tell them they are wrong and must stop. It’s so much easier to stay on the sidelines and maybe file a report after. (Thank God, on this Good Friday, that the soldiers listened and heeded). A couple hundred innocent villagers were slaughtered. Thompson was a major force in saving the rest. All the excuses used by the war criminals (alt. Calley was prosecuted but there was always speculation that the order to wipe out the village, as a message, came from higher)- that this was payback for collusion with VC, this was a message, that this was revenge-were shown to be lies by his actions in that he was as much of a combat vet as any. The army didn’t know what to do with Thompson, as it struggled to prosecute Calley while still fighting a war with an army somewhat sympathetic to him. WO Thompson didn’t get recognition for his bravery and honor until the ‘80s, and he died far too young (Calley is still alive). In my opinion, in large part he saved the “soul” of our army, by showing that war crimes can be stopped, renounced. RIP, Hugh Thompson. You were a different kind of war hero, but a hero nonetheless.

  5. Russia warning US to stop sending weapons to Ukraine is a bit hypocritical given all that they have donated to Ukraine.

  6. Finland's troll game is outstanding. This was their response to RU's threats. A little gathering in Central Helsinki plus a bunch of tractors drove to the border. Photo is from 2016.

  7. are you sure we're not writing a school paper for you? there isn't time to shift anything. Russia has played pretty much every card they HAVE, save the one that no one wants them to even consider. they need decades, likely, to catch up to the US. and what other countries lack in numbers they make up for in technology and training. If Russia isn't careful they will end up isolated like NK and their citizens won't stand for it. Many have experienced western style living and like the ease and convenience it brings. not many are going to want to go back to an agrarian lifestyle because one man lost his mind

  9. I’m not arguing those CFB projections, but you ignore pretty much all stats/information that is positive. There’s really no reason to believe we’ll regress on the Oline. In almost any year, you get at least one guy who has improved or plays better than anticipated and beyond expectations. It seems that if Banks comes in at LT and can be average, that is a huge upgrade in most peoples minds. We played teams that defensively created chaos. On a per game basis, we played 3 of the top 17 in average TFLs per game. All 3 in consecutive weeks, the last two had Bye weeks prior to playing us. The third we screwed up by jacking our lineup due to injury. Take out G5 teams it was 3 of top 11. Six conference foes were top 38. There were 5 SEC teams in the top 38. 7 from the ACC. 2 Big 10. Now let’s take the Stuff Rate. Texas was best in the Big 12 on the Oline with the lowest rate. Obviously there are sacks allowed. We were tied at 61st in the country in sacks allowed. You can argue Bijan saved some here. Probably but he wasn’t far and away the broken tackles leader either. I’d also counter that our QBs didn’t save us much either. But the point is that our opponents didn’t sit back and play passively. They attacked. And they were good at it. Not just against us but every team they played. So I’ll ask simply this. Do you expect our Oline to be better next year? Even incrementally. Year 2. Good coaching. Additional year of maturity. Great incoming talent.

  10. Of course I'm not asking you to write a school paper for me! Jeez, how could you even think that? Hey, if you don't mind, could please you cite four credible literary sources that document the comments that people have made responding to my questions by 2pm today?

  17. Cold splash? This is the happiest I’ve seen CTJ in years. A poster on the Football board made a fairly positive post and he didn’t call him a Pollyanna fucktard, but even referred to him using logic and data. I think our resident forty-something curmudgeon got laid at lunch or is three drinks into his holiday weekend.

  19. Careful. he might be in his 80's but I would not fuck with him. Dude was one of the first selected when Delta was formed. 36 years in the army, all in combat arms. Dad is the reason I went to Texas. And he lives near the border. I mess with him and tell him to keep the land thieves north of him and guard the border.

  20. Both of these are true, which is a double fuckup by Russia. They have proven point 1: if you are not a member of a protective alliance like NATO, we won't hesitate to invade you and fuck shit up. In doing just that, they have also proven point 2: if you ARE a member of NATO, the military power you bring to bear will wipe out the Russian conventional threat within a few days. When you put those two points together, you just made a better case for joining NATO than 50 years of US sales pitches could ever do. Seriously, I couldn't craft a better plan for getting other European nations to join NATO if I tried, and Russia just executed it......when their goal was the exact opposite. We live in the dumbest fucking timeline, across the board.

  23. He absolutely is allowed to buy Twitter and moderate it any way he sees fit, but it has nothing to do with free speech. It has to do with power. If he wants to reinstate Trump, that is fine. He can implement any policy he wants as owner. Again, this is not about free speech. This is about the power to control what speech is allowed on Twitter

  24. At 2:54 ... Worthy is running up the sideline, while his man is standing still. That's an easy conversion. Cade Brewer standing at the first down marker, wide open. Casey Thompson gets tackled for a loss. I think a competent QB might be able to convert the first down there.

  26. My hypothesis has long been that to have the CHEAPEST manufacturing, you need a totalitarian government: one that will fuck over its labor pool and even deploy slave labor, and one that will give zero fucks environmentally. China gives you that, and can keep a lid on a lot of the bad shit. If we did the same stuff in Honduras, the stories would get out like crazy, we'd have massive protest and social justice movements raising unholy hell, and it couldn't be ignored the way it is in China, a communist totalitarian state literally an ocean away. We'll have to pay slightly more for iPhones made in Honduras, because we can't get away with those workers being forced to work 90 hours per week, and those plants spewing the worst shit imaginable into the relatively nearby air and water. But it can still be cheaper than making it domestically, and it's strategically more sound and you'll save a bit on shipping.
