  1. Tough shitski for the Russians. They can whine all they want about the US supplying intel and weapons to the Ukrainians. I seem to recall them supplying hundreds of MIGs, flown by their pilots, to fight the UN forces in the Korean War. I clearly remember the Russians supplying the anti-aircraft weapons and SAM missile batteries that shot down more than 8,000 fixed wing & rotary wing American aircraft during the Vietnam War, killing thousands of US servicemen. Payback can be a bitch. Right, comrade? And some younger generations still wonder why the US fought the Cold War to contain the Soviet Russians.

  2. I really try to consider every opinion with an open mind, realizing we all have different values, thought processes, cultures, etc. But some of you make this so fucking difficult. I am a school counselor and former kindergarten teacher. You are clueless about appropriate child development and socialization if you think kids don’t share about their homes, families and daily activities on the regular. Tell me how it would affect a student if I redirected the conversation after he or she shared about mom’s remarriage , which happened to be to another woman. Here’s a clue: it invalidates them, makes them feel like something is wrong about them. That child has just as much right to share their mom’s wedding as the child whose mom married a man . Imagine this scenario happens repeatedly throughout the child’s education—tell me about their self-esteem and sense of safety and belonging. Tell me what other students internalize when they realize this kid with the two moms is not welcome to share their life experiences. Am I to forbid them from bringing pictures for our family wall when we follow the developmentally appropriate lessons written for kindergarten? I’ve been a counselor for 16 years in areas from the RGV to The Woodlands. I promise you there are many more gay people than certain posters realize. I’m not suggesting we need in-depth discussions of the acts of sexuality in elementary school, but I’m damn sure not going to make a student feel less than their peers because a family member, or the student, likes a person of the same sex. I’m in a conservative school district outside of Austin now as a middle school counselor and my students actually approach this with way more of an open mind than some of you posting. 3. It’s more about two things regarding upcoming transfers: 1) Guys that will cause the coaches heartburn - there are players being recruited elsewhere who have a present or future here that the team doesn’t want to lose. The simplest prospects for this group of players are … the prospects, the guys that have someone good in front of them who will still get plenty of PT and are future starters if they stay on campus. 2) Guys this board and fans are befuddled by, albeit it not necessarily you or whomever else posting here - this isn’t a group to cheer out the door as much it just probably has to happen. There will be multiple players from the 2021 class if the rumors are true. Dead weight on the DL with bigger names too, sure. A lot of the NIL bullshit being touted by the other programs right now is just “look at me too!” nonsense. Parents hearing all of the pitches actually can see action at Texas, Oregon and a few other places and then everyone else is just talking. OU and its alumni base have been openly talking about major money problems. They’re getting trucked in the NIL discussions. So they announce this thing, a replica of the starting point from us, as their big deal, led by one of the biggest hucksters in college sports history. From the UT fan perspective, and I know everybody NEEDS to know everything right now, there is a fuckton going on with multiple groups. We’re going to see waves of announcements with teeth over the next 5 months and probably the next 12-24 that will continue to show some of these historically cheating motherfuckers what a payroll to meet looks like. One of the rumors I have no involvement with but is out there with multiple folks I view as credible is that in addition to the grassroots activity from groups like HWH, CFC, and Occupy, is that several independent billionaire types are verging on their own big things as a rebuttal to the decades of ongoing opponent cheating. So things may be a little messy for awhile, but probably not for most of the athletes getting paid. We’ll see. Buckle up.

  8. Straight up trolling. "Where there is no freedom of speech, no freedom of choice. Where there is simply no right to dissent. Where poverty thrives and where human life is worthless. To such an extent that they come to us, they go to war to steal at least something that resembles a normal life. You know they used to talk about their biggest dream: to see Paris and die. And their behaviour now is just shocking. Because their dream now is to steal a toilet and die."

  9. If you can’t see a ton of upside to Ewers and can’t imagine a world where this offense scorers 50 or 60 points on the regular in the Big 12 you are blind, and I don’t give a shit about the offensive line. that’s the differentiation that matters in games against good teams. Alabama will buttfuck us up front. Nobody else is good enough to be able to turn that into an issue for us all day long if we stay healthy. Not super pumped about the d. Or now about the special teams with dicker gone.

  10. It's funny the crowd, the Christian right, known for shoving gender stereotypes down a child's throat from birth are now sensitive to it. Girls wears dresses, like pink, and play with dolls. "You are either a boy or a girl". Unless you don't fit into the norm mentioned above, then they called a child neither girl nor boy. They called her "tomboy". They said worse when Hillary, and Kamala, wouldn't wear dresses, choosing pants instead. They said women were incapable of choosing their own healthcare, needing their husbands to make decisions for them regarding their bodies. Males were the only ones capable of the thought required to make these decisions. They said the only degrees for women were home economics because they belonged only in the home, waiting on everyone hand and foot. They called black boys and girls, "animals". The list goes on, so much that it's all preposterous. People are rejecting labels. Labels they have had pushed on them their whole lives. Labels contrived by strict stereotypes, that have no basis in factual reality, and used to control and manipulate. Despite my conservative, Southern Baptist background, I am happy for all of America's citizens and want them to be happy in whatever fashion. I don't feel threatened by these discussions and do not feel any of the examples crossed the line of what I would allow for my kids. The only thing clear to date is it's time for others to lead, as the religious right's horrific track record of hate and intolerance speaks for itself. They can sit down and shut the fuck up.

  11. I don't know jack shit about the technical aspects of football. So here are just a couple of things I noticed: I stood just to the right of the goal post in the field level club at the very front. At field level, looking at both QB's from behind, it seemed Card would have a much better view of the field that Ewers. Past that, the perspective wasn't too good for watching the game. That Banks kid that we have coming is huge. He stood in front of me and I was shocked at his size for a high school kid. On the hoof, when the players came into and out of the locker room and walked within feet of me, they looked bigger on whole than they have looked to me the past couple of years. Neyor physically just looks like a NFL receiver. I will be pulling for Murphy tp develop his talents because he is an imposing sized guy. There were a ton of former players there who all seemed really familiar with all the players and appeared to be excited to be there.

  12. Some observations from in person viewing. Safeties look improved over last year, addition by subtraction, and some actual addition. Allen looked great, and Crawford had one play to the flat that he overran badly, but his reaction time and speed are nice and overall looked great as well. Watts dominated Dixon, no contest at all. Watts vs Neyor was a much better battle and I like what I saw from both of these guys. Helm is hands down the best blocker and will see a lot of the field this season because of it. God help us if we ever have to field Washington, Dixon, and Harrison together in a real game. In person Ewers was underwhelming, but the few times he was given a not complete ass OL and WR targets he made good reads and good throws. Card exhibited the sharpest arm and footwork, but since he can't hit the deep ball he's practically useless long term in a sark offense Throw most everything else out regarding the offense, there really needs to be a lot more 1s v 1s in practice sessions This hardly needs repeating but fuck Herb Hand

I couldn’t watch the game because my roommate was using the TV to illegally stream Armenian soccer games but you better believe I’ll be watching in the fall. I told Hakob we’re watching the Horns even if Lokomotiv Yerevan is playing Alashkert.

  23. Looks like speculation we provided the intel to Ukraine that enabled them to target the Moskva was correct. The US had a P8 Poseidon flying around Romania within 100km of the Moskva in the hours before the Ukrainians lit it up. The P8 turned off the transponder several times, presumably flying out into the Black Sea. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/ukraine-war-us-spy-plane-on-patrol-in-black-sea-before-sinking-of-russian-flagship-moskva-fblbg0znd

  24. To answer, I was pretty blissfully not self aware about why I didn't like my hometown. I was also an athletic kid who played football, soccer, basketball, baseball and swimming so I wasn't a target of bullies. I had no real idea that I was gay, even though I managed to find several other boys that were willing to trade blowjobs from junior high til graduation. I didn't truly understand that I was gay until I saw 2 guys kissing on the front page of the Daily Texan my first week at UT. So, when my tennis coach called me a queer, I didn't see it as an assault on my identity. When my preacher talked about the homosexuals going to hell, I didn't think he was talking about me. But had I been a bit more self aware I might've. And there wasn't a single soul in my hometown I knew of that I could have gone and talked to about that, who would've supported me through that, and who would've done anything at all to reassure me that things would be ok. I can easily imagine a world where I was less athletic and more self aware, where not only was it harder to make friends, but I was getting a barrage of negative actions and words thrown at me by society, by my teachers, by my church, by my friends who don't know about me, by the bullies that have figured out I'm an easy target, by my parents. Imagine all those people just cutting you to pieces over and over again. And there is NO ONE you can go to about it. There is nothing you can do except keep taking it. I can absolutely see where kids can see this as a ride they do not want to be on. So yes, representation matters. Hearing about Tommy's 2 dads or Billy's 2 moms or the teacher's brother marrying another boy are all little toe holds in life that self aware gay kids can use to help them get to the next day and the next until they are in a place where they can actually stand on their own two feet, where they can finally get out of that toxic environment and they can make a new family of friends who can help them overcome the years and years of casual abuse that was heaped on them while they sat in silence. And by the way I call it casual abuse because most people have no idea it was abuse. I'm pretty certain that tennis coach never would've called me a queer if he thought I actually was, but that type of casual name calling, which is a good gotcha for straight kids, is psychologically devastating to the gay ones. And finally, I say all this because every kid needs someone they can trust. And this is true for every gay person I've ever known. At some point they reach an inflection point where it is no longer possible for them to keep this to themselves. In the environment I grew up in, there was no one. I went to an anti-gay church, so I knew my parents agreed with the church and I was an abomination. I had friends and teachers that had no compunction around calling people fags and queers. 18 years of that environment took its toll, and it wasn't until ~10 years later that I finally talked to another person about what I knew about myself my first week at UT. It was another 2 years after that before I told someone that I actually cared if they rejected me. Thinking I would have non-supportive parents delayed my ability to grow up and start being an adult and fully living my life for 10 years, at this point fully 1/5 of my life. And that's someone that didn't have to suffer the slings and arrows as personal attacks. Imagine how much worse it would've been if I had? Would I still be here today? I actually don't know. Sorry to go on about this, I'm late to this thread.
