SIL held a memorial service for James (the nephew) almost two weeks ago. No casket, no body. Army chaplain from his unit addressed the assembly. It was a real gut punch experience. We learned that James was in charge of a small unit of volunteers that was helping to evacuate wounded people from one place to another place. James had told his unit to take the wounded they had gathered (by vehicle) and he stayed behind with one Ukrainian contact to assist more wounded that couldn't travel with the group/vehicle. They (James and the Ukrainian) had just gotten the wounded to a staging area/camp? when they were targeted by a Russian drone. He was killed in an explosion and there wasn't a body to recover.37 points

Iβve decided that youβre a cunt. So I negged you. If I throw a dog a bone, Iβm not interested in hearing about how it tastes. I gave you background on how this shit works, you chose to twist it into a scenario in which Texas is getting beaten on it, and they are not. They didnβt go after the OSU LB because it felt like an overspend. USC, true to Rileyβs form, would prefer to focus on defense out of necessity, so theyβre going to overspend on defense in the portal. That has nothing to do with Texas not being willing and ready to do so when it sees the right opportunity, you overly simplistic fuck.34 points

As a former conservative myself, i do take a bit of issue with "so polarized." The "left" has been what the left has always been. I don't think it's any more left than ever. I do think more modern life presents issues that SEEM more polarizing, like equal rights for LGBQT, climate change, wealth inequality. and the like, but these have been pretty consistent positions of "the left" for decades. The right, however, in lieu of actual policy, has taken to demonizing these policies as socialism, etc. Therefore, I blame the right almost entirely for the polarization.31 points

βHad she tried to be just somewhat more likableβ In 2015/2016, you watched Trump parade down an escalator and proclaim Mexico was sending rapists and criminals, make dick jokes on a debate stage, claim - correctly - he could shoot someone and it wouldnβt matter, heard him brag about grabbing women by the pussy, mock a disabled reporter, trash a Gold Star Military family, and denigrate an actual American hero in John McCain. Yet it was Hillary Clinton who was just too unlikable. Misogyny is a hell of a thing.21 points

In regards to a certain WR there are two things at play. 1 - His current team is absolutely aware of all the βrumorsβ and understands how much the potential transfer would hurt the schoolβs perception. Desperate times call for desperate measures. 2 - The family has been made some very big promises in regard to OC and scheme change. I doubt you see any movement until the OC is hired. Thatβs going to work in Texas favor cause it doesnβt seem like the big splash promised is going to happen.14 points

That may be true - but why the hell would anyone take his word for it? There are roughly 400 5 & 4 star players in a class - you're saying half of them reached out to Deion in 12 hours? Santos is a GQP trial balloon, just like Herschel Walker. It's just another step closer to an autocracy. Nominate wholly unqualified candidates, lie about their qualifications while accepting dark campaign $$$ from wealthy oligarchs If their candidate doesn't win, falsely claim election fraud and file baseless lawsuits while being given constant air time on Fox, OAN, Newsmax, Twitter, etc. If their candidate does win (Santos) downplay his lies as "embellishments" and less harmful than this list of evil things the groomer, pedo, blood drinking libtards did. Throw in George Soros for good measure While the voters are clutching pearls and being outraged over the performance art of serial liars like Santos, continue to restrict access to voting and gerrymander districts to ensure power is maintained by the GQP We're not far from Governor or Senator Fitlump.14 points

SWA will come out of this just fine. They will lose maybe half of the customers that got fucked this week, but other than that it will be business as usual in a few weeks. As a SWA pilot like @Your Mom, I have my little "burn it to the ground" foam finger on as I watch this meltdown happen. The bigger the disaster, the more leverage we have as a pilot group to FINALLY get the scheduling changes we've been asking for for years. Our union has put in 1000s of hours of research and handed the company a scheduling proposal that would benefit both the pilots and the company by cutting the number of deadheads, reroutes, and other inefficiencies, but SWA has stood firm that their practices are good enough. This is the result. I don't care what Bob Jordan, Gary Kelly, or any of the other Bobs have to say unless it's "getting a new contract with our pilots is our #1 priority". FUPM.14 points

Well, let's square the circle a bit, shall we? 1) Hillary was "unlikeable" v. #butterymales: I think we ought to agree on a few things here. First, Hillary Clinton was "unlikeable" to a majority of the electorate, based on repeated polls. Second, her "unlikability" is largely a product of a quarter-century smear campaign run by Republicans and their friends in talk radio and Fox News, which was fueled by bullshit and misogyny. Third, the email story played right into some of the narratives of that smear campaign--that Hillary was corrupt; she was secretive; she couldn't be trusted. And then let's add in that her campaign did a poor job of addressing the issue. And let's further add in that Jim Comey fucked her and America by going against FBI guidance and having a press conference reopening an investigation against her ten days before the election. Put that all together, and I think it's fair to say that she was "unlikeable," but she was "unlikeable" in large part due to bullshit and misogyny, and that someone probably ought to avoid characterizing her as "unlikeable" lest he/she be charged with being a dupe. By the way--as a dupe of Republican bullshit for a large part of my adult life, I don't think that's an overly harsh characterization. 2) "What the GOP has become since 2016" v. "horseshit:" Again, I think we can agree on a few things. First, there has been a wild shift in the Republican Party since 2015/16. I just don't think that's even arguable. And I don't know how you can argue it when you're talking to and about people who have left the party because of that shift. But second, that shift was the continuation of trends in the party that go back to at least 1992 (Pat Buchanan's demagogic populist campaign) and probably back to 1968 (Nixon's Southern Strategy). Those trends accelerated in 2015, but let's not pretend that the GOP didn't tolerate and even encourage a whole lot of racism and anti-democratic tendencies before then. But third, the pre-2015 GOP did a really good job with educated white people of hiding its racism. So if you were a person who favored low taxes and less government regulation, the GOP's underbelly could be overlooked. It was, after all, and under-belly. As I have said, I thought the Republican Party was a conservative party with a small racist fringe; 2016 revealed that it was (and was all along) a racist party with a small conservative fringe. And here we go back to the "dupe" thing. If your point is "you should've known better," then yeah--I agree. @Chult86 seems to agree. But let's also not pretend that there weren't good reasons why one would not know better. And some of those reasons even lie at the feet of the Democratic Party (e.g., Hillary Clinton was a weak candidate).12 points

I was definitely out once Trump came around, but I had been getting disillusioned by the Republican party for a while. The hypocrisy. Do they even have a statement of values...a platform any more? What I really can't stand are "the ends justify the means" Christians. I was raised in a conservative Christian family. I don't know if I have any faith left, but I admire the teachings of Jesus regardless. Like, the actual teachings. I don't know what the fuck book some of these "Christians" have been reading. Sorry for the rant. I'm all hopped up on meds for my back and still can't sleep.12 points

I travel quite a bit, anything over 3 nights and Iβm probably checking. Iβm not wearing already worn clothes to get through a week somewhere. Iβm also not going to be the jackass with the overstuffed bag or multiple large bags. Iβm also not fighting over bin space if I end up in a late boarding group for some reason and Iβll just gate check my carry on then. Itβs not worth it, it can go under the plane. By the time I stop by the restroom and walk to baggage claim, the wait is rarely more than a few minutes. We have never had a lost bag (knock on wood) in all our years of traveling. We had one get delayed and they brought it by courier later that day.11 points

I think no one really knows yet. The schools have had a ton of contact from high quality players through their people trying to feel out the space. Schools and their contacts in the media have been right to think the change after bowls could be seismic, but youβre counting on entrenched starters to take that leap and jump in. While ATM has had a ton of people enter the portal, multiple others were expected to leave. Stewart has told a minimum of 5 programs that heβs entering to join their team. Heβs told Texas that through handlers like 3 times since App State. Less flaky guys have worked out fucking details with teams and then not moved. Some of it is the aggie folks getting their paperwork and then frantically moneywhipping them into submission so theyβd never technically put their app in, but some of it is guys not really wanting to abandon a sure thing. Thatβs going to happen over and over. Does it change after the spring when guys are like βokay, this team is still fucked. i need to find a new home, certainty be damnedβ, sure, I think there is some of that too. Bottom line is that this is all still new and thereβs a lot to learn for everyone. Itβs going to continue to lead to sketchy reports from gurus and guys like me and other guys involved with collectives that post, like imma, sydney, rgb3, squish, etc., because everyone passing info on is an unintentionally unreliable narrator. Itβs super easy, I guess. I assume youβre whipping out to help with the funding. It takes money to retain, and way more than expected in this cycle; money to magnetize transfers; and money to win for future classes. The game has changed. You need to be armed to the teeth financially to get the absolute best 11, nevermind 85. Texas is doing everything it can to be right there on that, but this shit is changing daily in this chaos.11 points
