  1. Might as well go ahead and post a spring update on ATM here. Probably do it on the football board too. Some of my friends that know people and players in and around the ATM program have always called it straight on ATM. I know some folks that read my ATM posts regularly know that, but others that don't or think I'm wishcasting, I'll just point out that I foretold of what was coming from ATM in the 2022 class back in the winter of 20/21 when they starting pushing chips in, and it wasn't funny or happy shit for us. So do with this what you may, but this isn't fan fiction even if it reads like it. Fisher hasn't changed a thing with the offense. They're running the same shit and Petrino is being forced to learn the playbook so the illusion of him calling plays on gameday can exist. There have been no new installations of scheme whatsoever on either side of the ball. Coaches are infighting, to the point that people are talking shit in the open at practices. Coley is completely iced from any relevance whatsoever and has no say in anything but is moneywhipped into shutting the fuck up, keeping his fancy title and worrying over tight end development. Blackwell is apparently shellshocked. I'm interested in seeing if he stays for more than a year. Addazio and Craig apparently hate each other. Petrino and Fisher aren't feigning to be friendly in front of others. There are still a number of weed-smoking mercenaries on the team, some of whom may not make it out of the spring. Going to class is a bug, not a feature. Smoking weed before practice is a ritual among a portion of the players. One highly rated defensive player's parents thinks the program dysfunction is complete. But, hey, the money's right. For everyone.

  6. I happened to be in the area yesterday so I stopped by the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant, one of the main places pressing hard to produce as many artillery shells as possible. I was curious as to where it actually was, and it's right there in the middle of all kinds of things. Anyway, hookem to everyone busting their ass to increase production of such a sorely needed item right now.

  9. I told my gay son the other day that it is finally settled - since Russia hates gay people so much, by definition it is cool and OK to be gay. I knew my gay son was gay before he was even a teen. Just like I knew my straight son was straight before he was a teen. It is just genetics. They were raised by the same mom and dad in exactly the same way with exactly the same values and exactly the same environment. In Republicans minds, if it is genetics, then they have to consider the possibility that God made errors. That drives them to the conclusion they have to send their gay kids to sexual reorientation camp as God is always right, and it must be the devil who changed them. My ex-wife, and I never had an issue with him being gay. I would’ve preferred that he wasn’t because of all the threats to his physical and mental well-being caused by idiots who will attack him. Fortunately, he lives in a time when his high school classmates were cool, and he did not get treated in the unfortunate way that many teens were treated back in the day. He does tell me stories about how many of his gay friends were treated so horribly by their families who could not accept their being gay. Back to my comment about young people today not having that homophobic outlook that many of their elders do: since the republican party is all in on anti-abortion and anti-gay, there’s a 0% chance that 20 years from now this country won’t be so progressive on race and gender issues that the GQP would not recognize it. THAT is part of the GOP and religious fear - that the coming change is inexorable. That the country will be less white, less misogynistic, more gay friendly and less religious, and there is not a damn thing they can do to stop it. I won’t be alive then, but I look forward to it for everyone else. But that does not mean they won’t try really, really hard in the short time they have in power.

  10. You’ve started from the wrong premise. They’re not afraid of their sexuality being challenged. They’re afraid if traditional oppressed groups - Black, women, LGBTQ, etc. - gain power, that they will be treated like they have treated oppressed groups historically. They don’t get that the rest of us just want equality, freedom, and to be left the fuck alone. They’re afraid - and lucky - those of us with their necks under their boots don’t want revenge. They’re masters at projection. If the shoe was on the other foot, they’d seek revenge. Shit, they have ALWAYS been a part of the “in group” and they’re still cruel and hateful. They honestly can’t fathom most of us just want them to mind the business that pays them and leave us the fuckkkkkk alone.

  12. I live in incredibly fucked up Louisiana. And as incredibly fucked up a red state politicians are here, we do not hold a candle to the cesspool that is Republican Texas politics. I am not including most of the surly cloakroom, but if you live in Texas, you should be estopped from throwing stones at stupid racist GOP politicians in other states.

  21. The late Johnny Bush (composer of "Whiskey River" and a one-time star in his own right) told this story to a bunch of us in Houston, where grew up near the refineries: After his parents got divorced Johnny went to live with his grandmother, a snuff-dipping lady who favored bathrobes (stained with snuff juice) and rocking chairs. She gave young Johnny a strict midnight curfew when he was a teen, because as she put it "Ain't nothin' but legs and hospitals open in Kashmere Gardens after midnight." One night Johnny busted that curfew and thought he could sneak back in around one AM. Nope -- granny was in that rocking chair with a dip in waiting for him. "You know I told you to be in by midnight," she told him. "Where in the world did you get to." "Well, it wasn't no hospital," Bush replied.

  26. So - there is the problem with the Russian government being in bed with that asshole Orthodox Pope and his priests in this situation. Margarita and the other talking heads are constantly invoking the Orthodox Christian religion as the only true religion in the world, and one that has to be obeyed. The fact that Putin is telling the Pope what to do is apparently of no moment. Those Orthodox Russians are as crazy as America’s evangelicals. It is not going to be easy to tell them all to fuck off and enjoy the giant Moscow mosque…any more than First Assembly of God of the Blood of the Lamb of bum fuck Kentucky can be told to fuck off and enjoy pride week. This could get interesting. I also have a hunch that this video is not so much directed at Russia, as it is directed at Chechnya and all of the tribes who are itching to get rid of Kadyrov. If the Kadyrovites appear to be all Muslim holy warrior response to insults to Islam, I suspect it is directed at the folks back home who have been waiting for a chance to go after Russia again, especially since Russia can’t have a two front war. if Kadyrov does not come down hard on this, it might be his undoing back home. This has been the brightest ray of hope I’ve seen in sometime. if the CIA can’t arrange for the mosque to be bombed before it opens, then I’ve lost my faith in spooks
