This is great and all... but I think I'll wait until BO&W posts it again, 6 posts down, before I get too excited by it.42 points

I got a call today and my buddy says "Miami thinks they're making a late run. I laughed out loud." McKinley is Collins. He'll wind up 6'5"/6'6" and 310, looking like an NFL bad ass. Will he ever play like one? These are the recruitments that Texas has won over the last two decades that have a low success rate. Not being a downer, but these are the concerns folks have. In any event, barring desperation from OU or LSU, I expect Texas. I am not sure even desperation helps LSU. It looks like they're being placated on this one. There's a notion that all of this may lead to Mack getting something put in front of him that makes him stay in state. We'll see. LSU's actual NIL is really weak shit. Simmons committing tomorrow should make everyone feel more confident about landing Black.36 points

CS mom has wanted Texas since the spring. I wonβt post details until he officially signs somewhere in December, but there is a reason I posted in March to expect a lot of CS to Texas talk a few days before the 9.99 crew started talking more positively about Texasβ chances in the spring.36 points

Yep we have been in basketball, volleyball etc with QR codes. Going to be more focused with it for football as well. Have a big ol Colt McCoy commercial that will play and tell people to donate33 points

This seems like a perfect time for me to point out to everyone here that our NIL isn't even remotely close to being completely weaponized, Death Star style. In fact, we're still short on a lot of necessary metrics of a bunch of people just giving $20 bucks a month to the TexasOneFund. Y'all think this is evidecne that we've arrived, and we're good, but it is absolutely the fucking opposite of what we want, and where we want to be as an NIL fanbase. We've barely even broken the surface, and while the results look good right now, I've got to tell you, we are at best, at BEST, spinning fucking plates to make this shit work and happen in the short term. The long term outlook is still a giant motherfucking question mark. So if you don't give money every month to OneFund, you need to start. And you need to grab 3-4 buddies each and have them fucking do it as well. Because counting on big donors to step up over and over isn't realistic. The best, and I mean the best thing we have gonig for us right now is the allure of corporate possibilities, and the fact that other fanbases are way poorer and more disorganized than we are, and a chunk of that is because some of our fans can see around fucking corners and got to work.30 points

If this is true, and the Texas NIL did offer enough life-changing money for CS to choose us, then I say thank God and it's about damn time. We are finally in a position to put our biggest strengths -- money, donors, and alumni networks -- to good use. Fuck the low rent SEC. And honestly if the money is going to help his family manage his little brother's challenges, even more reason to celebrate. Hook 'em.29 points

Sark can fucking recruit. He's likeable, and smart. And at this point it looks like he can identify good coaching hires, although we had some bumps in that iniital staff road. His biggest question mark at this point is coaching and not stepping on rakes he's left in the yard. His recruiting and the emergecne of NIL and how it relates to Austin and the all the shit we've discussed about the biggest city without a pro team, etc., cannot be understated. Now show us on the field.28 points

I can't explain to non recruiting people how much I enjoy schools that have been playing the bag game for years and years now want the NCAA to do something because they can't compete with us. But for us, its all kittens and rainbows.24 points

About 10 years ago I worked with a woman named Mary Lou. She got the word that she had breast cancer. She told me one morning and I relayed that information to Mrs. NNM, who was appropriately saddened that Mary Lou had breast cancer. That night Mrs. NNM was helping at a fundraising table for the daughtersβ dance team. The adult daughter of our next door neighbor (call her βTrixieβ) came by the table. Mrs. NNM: βIβm so sorry about your mom!β Trixie: βwhat?β Mrs. NNM: βNNM told me she has cancer. Iβm so sorry!β Trixie: βMy mom has cancer?!? <sobbing>. Excuse me, I gotta go!β Mrs. NNM: βIβm so sorry!β _______ Mrs. NNM then calls me. Mrs NNM: βAre you sure Mary Lou has cancer?β Me: βYes, we talked about it this morning. The company and I are going to be very supportive. We have good insurance.β Mrs. NNM: βOh. Itβs the Mary Lou you work with, not Mary Lou our neighbor?β Me: βYes.β Mrs. NNM: βOops. I just told Trixie her mom has cancer!β ___ In the interim, Trixie had called several other members of her family with the bad news, before finally connecting with her mom, who did not, in fact, have breast cancer. Trixie then returned to the fundraising table: Trixie: βDoes NNM know another Mary Lou?β Mrs. NNM: βYes. Itβs a woman he works with. Iβm so sorry.β22 points

LSU baseball just became the first college sports team to literally purchase a national championship. Any LSU fan/reporter/administrator bitching about NIL is a hypocrite of the highest order.20 points

Eve of announcement intel: Latest buzz ahead of Colin Simmons commitment Horns247 Staff TLDR version, courtesy Getafix: Hank South: Simmons to Texas. Jordan Scruggs: Simmons to Texas (still LOVES his CB). Hudson Standish: Simmons to Texas. Rest of the article: Turn the tide; inside track; upper hand; tipping his hand; close to the vest; recruiting is fluid; heavy smoke; pole position; traded blows; battled back and forth; traded haymakers; much needed momentum; SEAL THE DEAL!19 points

Colin Simmons Note Sonny Shipp (LSU 247) "After doing some more digging late last night and early this morning, I'm going to switch my crystal ball to Texas. I believe the NIL factor is too life-changing to pass up and will push the Horns over the top."18 points

I have to get used to the NIL era where we are no longer one of 8 teams paying recruits and Texas has been unshackled.17 points

I agree. But you are assuming the need for the cult to expand past its current population. In South Africa, apartheid began in 1948. At that time there were 13 million people in South Africa. 2.6 million of them were white and 9.88 million were black. So a minority of 2.6 million brought a population of 9.88 under their heel. It only took 20% of the population to have the necessary critical mass to subjugate the other 80%. Now look at the US in 2020. 74 million of 155 million voted for Trump. That's 48% of voters. There were 329 million people living in the US. That's 22.4% of the total population. Let this sink in: In 2020, we had a larger percentage of citizens supporting the MAGA Presidential candidate than there were whites living in South Africa when Apartheid was erected. The cult doesn't need to expand. It just has to eliminate the ability of the non-cult to threaten its hold on power. Every maneuver we've seen from Trump and his allies has been towards this end. The barriers against voting. The dismantling of education. The attempt to "find" the votes in Georgia. The bogus electoral voters ready to go if only Pence would send the election back to the states. The 1/6 insurrection. The demonization of the concept of democracy. We are exceedingly fortunate Trump didn't find a way to stay in the White House for a 2nd term. Should he figure out a way to get another -- and he will be trying by every available means and with the assistance of foreign adversaries -- it won't matter if 99% of the people listen to him and wonder, "What the fuck did he just say?"16 points

Yeah, I think we realize you feel that way. Given your behavior on this site, I've generally assumed that your life mantra is "often wrong, but never in doubt." That statement should be chiseled above the entry doorway to your garden home in Irving.16 points

To add onβ¦ 100k people fill DKR for a game against Kansas. If all 100k of those people donated $10 a month to Texas One Fund, thatβs 12 million a year. That would equate to the largest NIL budget in the country. Then add the whales and corporate plus the folks giving $50 instead of 10. Now we are talking about being double the budget of the next highest school. THATS the Death Star!15 points

Obviously things shifted big time over the last 6 months or so, but at the beginning of the year I didn't think we had a shot in hell at winning this recruitment. The dude attended Southern vs LSU instead of Bama vs Texas last September. Just felt like an extreme long-shot.14 points

Notes: Quinn's deep accuracy has improved even with tighter coverages. Arch is doing well distributing the ball to multiple different targets. WR is most improved position group, actually best overall group on the team. AD Mitchell is likely the best WR on the team, no slight to Xavier Worthy. Legit 5 deep at the position. They keep mentioning this OL rotation which is pretty much unheard of IMO. Guard continues to be a battle while the tackles are set in stone. GH/EN are both tired of hearing about Alfred Collins in practice, go do it in a game. Trill will play quite a bit(obviously) and Aaron Bryant should get quite a few snaps as well. Broughton has to play lower and work on technique more but dude is straight jag IMO. Sydir is explosive in his first few steps but after there he tails off. Bledsoe appears like he's starting to get into a DT body but retaining his flexibility/athleticisim....GH believes Bledsoe is going to flash this year. Burke is instant upgrade pass rush and will have to rely on technique vs the rush instead of power right now. Neither GH/EN have a great read on Vasek yet. Jett Bush is going to be Ford's backup according to Nahlin. They're going to get Ant Hill on the field at multiple different looks because his pass rush ability. Lefau is behind Bush similar to how Ant Hill is behind Gbenda. Catalon best attribute for this defense may be shoring up the run defense due to his recognition and reaction. Legit 5 deep at corner, Brooks likely starts first game....but ultimately starters might be different week to week. Manny is one of the most advanced corners that Texas has seen in years.13 points

It's so bananas seeing Twice, DDD, and Troph offering Lidig8r even a half-assed defense in this thread. I get that you know him and I'm not suggesting you punch him in the face next time you see him, or even text him and ask "wtf", because ultimately this board doesn't matter much in real life. But in this thread he came in, dropped a turn in the punch bowl by calling it a place where reason and logic aren't welcome, then made a post with several factual inaccuracies and admitted ignorance over the main source of frustration. He has since left this thread and I strongly suspect will not return. This is shitty behavior and if being called out on it means he never returns then I don't think that's a bad thing. It's not hard to bring some value to the board. Hell, even bosa brings cheer and smiles to the board every time he posts pictures of tasty looking burgers. I'm not sure Lidig8r is at that level.13 points

Texas can turn that around fast, but there's a lot of SEC politics involved in that, and right now Texas isn't looking to come out being a dick to our new partners. So it's going to probably take some time. But unsurprisingly, everyone hates A&M.12 points
