Banks getting recruited over. Sark doesn’t fuck around.35 points

Oregon, Ohio State, and allegedly Nebraska. USC wasn't a factor for a while. What I've heard from Oregon fans is that the ducks got in Baker's ear about how bad USC moving to the B1G was for their program and that playing in the bi-coastal B1G would be a shitshow. That soured him on USC and put Oregon in the lead. Then Oregon announced that it would be moving to the B1G as well and all the shit Oregon had been talking about USC came back to bite them.33 points

tldr: grow a pair Are some of you really mewling and sweating over Kansas? It's Kansas. How sad our ptsd has made us over the last decade. Yes, they beat Charlie. Yes, they beat Sark on the 2 pt conversion when we had no line, walk-on LBs, and safeties who didn't want to hit anymore . So I hear that Daniels is good. He lit the slow Mormons up for 130 yards last week. And they were slooooow. Good job, dude. We aren't slow. Yes. He's going to hit a deep shot. Maybe two. Blind squirrel and what not. But most of his day will be running in fear. In case you didn't notice, in addition to a beastly running game (see also Brooks, J.) and the usual receiving corps that has been putting up "who you going to cover" numbers, i.e. Worthy, Whittington, Mitchell, and Sanders, we're starting to add Cook. And Mr. C.J. Baxter isn't going to waste his opportunies when he's getting them. Let's not forget that a major, major ass chewing on special teams took place this week, so expect something special to happen in that arena. Yes. They might get two lucky bombs from sleepy blown coverages, but history has been restored. Twenty something guys made tackles for us last weekend. We're so fucking sickly deep. It's Kansas, y'all. Enjoy another beat down. In our place. btw... want to sell your ticket??? cheap?24 points

Hey all you fellow frequent lurkers, I finally got around to signing up for Burnt Ends due to the J Brooks ads on front page. Easy/Peasy. The content on this single thread alone is worth the cost, but now I can Lord over you non-givers, which I plan to do without shame or irony.22 points

Good grief, guys. Anyway, regarding recruiting stuff: -Lair is probably picking UW over Baylor today. Texas never made the big push. It will be "chose Washington over Texas and Baylor" but if you're not used to how this stuff works by now, well, you should be. -Sarkisian and Flood seem to really want the guard from Mater Dei who is visiting this weekend. Auburn is running around like a drunken sailor with a pocket full of cash. Does Sarkisian want the pipeline to Mater Dei so badly that he's going to get aggressive for a guard? It's not clear, yet. -Outside of the guard, Ringo, Williams, and Black, most of the recruiting work left this cycle is going to about keeping relationships warm and seeing who gets serious about coming to Texas as the season wears on. It's a good angle if Texas keeps rolling and some of the other programs with commits from targets continue to falter. -The Weston Davis recruitment seems like a mystery. Or maybe a clusterfuck? Not sure. The problem with guys who can't be upfront with the staff at this stage of their career is that it doesn't project well for how they'll behave once on campus. Things get tough and early minutes aren't there in high volumes, it's hard for any freshman. How much backbone does this type of behavior reflect? Be a fucking man and tell the staff if you're visiting another campus. The debate will no doubt revolve around those concerns, how real those concerns should be, and how overall important the recruit is anyway. I could see them cutting bait here but I would bet on them working to get on the same page with this guy in particular.16 points

Why must you sound like an ignorant anti-perspicacity pustule? This is not your normal gig. The fact that for the second time in over 30 years salt water intrusion is going up the Mississippi - has not one thing to do with the decision to settle New Orleans in the 1700s. But move those goalposts to cover your comments that even the Cleti likely find devoid of thought. I will try to educate you. The fact that the city is not built on higher ground was not a problem after it was built. The United States government for reasons having more to do with commerce and benefiting the rest of the country, decided to change the course of the Mississippi post-1928. That change destroyed the ability of the river to deposit alluvial soil in the delta, the system that created a many miles marsh barrier between hurricanes and the city. Every mile of Marshland lowers one foot of on-coming storm surge. Put another way, a 20 foot short storm surge with 20 miles of marsh between the city and the storm is a nothing burger. The petroleum industry helped destroy the marshes around New Orleans, and entities other than the city of New Orleans changed the course of the river that helps destroy the ability of the Mississippi to deposit soil and create miles of marshlands in the Delta that protect the city from even large storms. Let’s recap. The city was colonized and was never at risk from the gulf like it is now. The city after colonization was never at risk from the gulf like it is now for centuries. Federal law says that local and state interests cannot unilaterally implement many of the changes you think still need to be done, due to reasons beyond the control of the local entities. The corp of engineers has authority over anything having to do with navigation and also with flood protection. Not only can we not change things to our whims, if businesses and people are damaged from most corp fuck ups (if they can find anyway to say it has anything to do with navigation ) the United States government and the Corps of Engineers are immune from suit because of that damage done to us. Now, we all occasionally post something that makes people laugh and point at us as if we were ignorant shit gibbons. This is just your turn. I have explained to you that the state and the the city can only do so much to protect the city, because the Corps of Engineers has jurisdictional authority over almost all of that. And I unfortunately have to remind you that the Corp actually finished several billion dollars worth of work building that flood protection around the city. I also must remind you that a recent category three hurricane (Ida) came through and that there were no storm problems or flooding problems due to the corp’s prior work. Since that work has been long completed after much study (and after billions of dollars spent), you are going to have to explain to us exactly what additional hurricane flood protection need to be built by the lazy locals. Because you appear to be under the assumption that all of the billions of dollars worth of storm surge work that has been done to protect metropolitan New Orleans was not done. It is sort of a mystery to me how you could think that way, given the fact that after Katrina all local entities and parish and city and state governments were working with the federal government to try to protect the city from then till the end of time. I would also like to hear your very educated opinion as to why none of that occurred, and why we in New Orleans are apparently at fault for not pursuing a fix to avoid those climate change hurricanes things that - ya know - we already did in connection with the United States government. Finally, I would like to hear how you can give an analogy of building a city on the sun to this same situation, at least, without jabbing yourself in the nuts with an ice pick when you type while screaming, “I’m so fucking stupid!” I especially like the part where you blame the victims for being victims. I want to hear more about that. I want to hear more about why people living in New Orleans today are responsible because people who lived in New Orleans many decades and centuries ago built there. Exactly how many Mr. Peabody Way Back Machines do we need to build? A little help there please Neonmoon, some of us can’t keep up.15 points

I've said this before, but I'll bore everybody with it again. When I first really started following recruiting in Mack's early years, I used to feel sorry for our starters who were likely going to lose their jobs to the new guys coming in. I somewhat bought into the predictions of exactly how the QB succession would go in the future. Then none of that shit happened. Some exceptional recruits did have immediate impact. Some 4-stars never saw the field. It's impossible to be sure about what will happen at QB; anybody sure that Ewers goes next year or that, if he does, Manning will pass Murphy to be the starter? I'm not. When we recruited Trey Allen (I think that's his name) there was actually an article that stated some scouts thought he was one of the few HS players who could make an NFL team right away. He came here. Worked hard. Seemed like a good young man. Never made a difference. You never know what's going to happen or how a 19-year-old will pan out. The firm predictions about who will play where and when are sort of silly.13 points

Not sure if this has been posted but here's 60minutes on how the US is not just sending military aide but also other financial assistance to Ukraine. They run into Blumenthal, Warren and Ladybug in Kyiv and interview them. Then they talk to a woman who is working to fight corruption to make sure the weapons and money is traced every step of the way. She says Ukrainians understand that corruption means death to them. I'm so impressed with these people. Worth your time imo13 points

Kansas is well-coached with good players and good scheme. Texas is playing for first place. Hasn’t heard anyone talk about OU. Team is focused. Implied that part of the issue on the muffed punts was failure to block which allowed Baylor to get in players’ faces. Worthy is very confident as a returner and is two shoelace tackles away from TDs. Very confident as a receiver. Really likes the DL. Doesn’t want to mention just Sweat and Murphy because depth is playing well. Likes to see Ewers loose and playing QB not working at QB. Brooks has earned the starting RB spot but they need Baxter healthy and he will get his share of carries. Edit: Also, in a weird way, glad the game two years ago turned out like it did. Storms don’t always come to destroy. Sometimes they come to clear a path. Without that game exposing warts in the program, they might still exist and they might not be where they are now.12 points

You can go find for yourself statements from the guys that covered this recruitment, from interviewing Baker himself, stating that a key differentiator from the Texas end is that they see him as a future RT and the fact that this is Christian Jones' last year is a big deal to him. He's coming in expecting to get a chance to compete at RT immediately. Nothing is guaranteed and no shit the coaching staff should seek to optimize the OL for fit in a ruthless manner each season. That shouldn't have to be something posted as a fucking terms and conditions fine print issue on a constant basis on these threads but some of you idiots, and yes, you for sure, Bevo, are tediously literal and dense, so here it is in obvious fashion for you. *Terms and conditions apply. There are no guarantees in recruiting. Once guys get on campus, coaches will work to develop and find the best for them. Sometimes that means the player winds up elsewhere than originally speculated during the player's recruitment. Results and mileage will vary on a case by case basis. All rights reserved. Go fuck yourself. Fuck him. Fuck that guy too. Merry Christman. Happy Hannukah.12 points

Watts has been beaten deep a few times because he is face raping dudes all day between 0-10 yards. How many years have we complained about soft coverage on the outside basically conceding the short 5 yard pass and gotten dink and dunked down the field. Im tired of that shit. Much more satisfying to shut down the short shit all night and let them try to protect long enough against our front to get somebody deep11 points
