Do you have to slice it beforehand? Waiting to slice will help with heat retention and yield a better product.

Also, charge your cooler with boiling HOT water before adding meats.

Wait to slice if you can. A 40qt cooler should be able to hold 20lbs of meat.

The single biggest...and I mean BIGGEST... mistake I ever made in taking home a casual partner was the result of consuming more than two of their OG Mexican Martinis. I met a buddy and his fiancée and her fat sister for drinks. Fiancée wasn't drinking, but bought her ration of two and let fat sister and me split them (after we each had our two).  Next thing you know I'm giving her the two pump special and hopping across her living room while trying to put my pants on and find my car keys at the same time.

Back around 2003 Arboretum location won ton soup, lettuce wraps, orange chicken slammed and went hard. Those lettuce wraps must have been an aphrodisiac and it was heavily in my rotation 🤷‍♂️🤣

I was a valet there in 99-00. It was great and I got an employee discount. Always a great place to take a date.

Was disappointed until I read the article… def down to check this out:

“Food on the menu will include fried chicken, chicken fried steak, barbecue chicken, chicken tenders, yeast rolls and "all-you-can-eat family style sides," all inspired by Roxanna's home cooking Babe’s Chicken.”

Do any of you guys know bear country? Maybe the builder would know, but I'm wondering what is a problem and what isn't a problem. I've heard trash is a problem, but if you put the trash in the garage, I've heard about cases like:

    image.jpeg.176131d559a35bdfdfea0ce0964941f5.jpeg

Still, I think the garage is the answer. I don't have any clue on when people put trash out for pickup or if there is pickup.

And we are doing an addition next year (so I'll probably know the answer by then, but if you guys know)... Is an outdoor dining area possible? Is a grill in a dining area like below possible? Currently, there is induction cooking inside. I don't know much about grilling inside though and I know nothing about how to do it with induction heat. Shit, maybe I should have bought a house in the Caribbean first.

Now does all this depend on how big of a bear problem exists? Originally, we purchased a lot near Sandpoint, ID and there isn't much of a bear problem there. Then we were going to buy near Yellowstone, but the wife wanted to be near a lake. Finally, we settled on the west side of Flathead lake in Montana. The east side of the lake is closer to Glacier and most of the mountains so it definitely has more bears. But there are bears on both sides and we are a little higher up in elevation for the views and on 10 acres so it is somewhat rural. Hopefully, the views make it all worthwhile.

  6. My in-laws tore down their perfectly good house earlier this year, so now they’re living in the 1br barndominium while the new house is under construction. MIL still insisted on hosting Christmas. I offered to host 3 different times. No luck. So I get to spend Christmas in a barn and travel trailer. MIL will spend the whole time bitching about how small the kitchen is. I made the mistake of asking if they even had a Christmas tree. Of course the answer was no. Now my wife wants to take our tree with us. That ain’t happening.

I caught a little Cooking Channel feature on Franklin BBQ this morning.  The show originally aired in 2017, but it was a compilation of segments, so I suppose the Franklin bit could have been shot as early as 2011 when he moved to the brick & mortar location.  Check out these prices:

If the hotel charges me $50 for hotel valet/day there’s no other tipping involved

similarly, if at a restaurant, valet has a cost associated with it, I take that to be their tip. No extra cash is transacted.

I was a valet in college. We didn’t get a cent from the fee. Hotels may be different. I only worked at restaurants.

I’d say that today $5-10 is a solid tip. Not enough to remember you the next time, for either good or bad reasons.

The high-rollers tipped $20 in the late 90’s, so that’s probably $50 today.

  9. My wife used to get so stressed about laundry. So I told the kids they were now responsible for washing and folding their clothes. My wife looked at me like I told them to jump off of a cliff and start flying.

They’ve been doing it ever since and my wife has created other things to be stressed about.
