  1. My wife and I ran our first half at 3M. We have run several 10ks prior to the 3M Half. We had a great time and will be running the Austin Half next and then plan on running a full sometime later this year. Looking forward to following along with everyone.
  2. Lake Tahoe, North side.
  3. the best dog i have ever had was a Bull Mastiff. He was an incredible dog. People would cross the street to avoid him when we went on walks. He looked like a 150 lb pit bull on steroids if you didnt know what a Bull Mastiff is. He was kind and gentle with his family but if you were a stranger, it was a different story. He didnt really bark. He would sit in between us and strangers. If he saw that we accepted the stranger, he would get up and trot off. If he felt we were at unease with the stranger, he would stay there sitting until the stranger made a move in our direction and then would, without barking or growling, take them down with his massive head and neck. Once they were laying on the ground, he would stand over them, show his teeth, and eerily growl the deepest lowest growl you have ever heard. He was amazing. Cancer took him from us when he was only 6. Its been almost 8 years now and I still miss him. His name was Rex and he was the greatest dog of all time.
  4. Congrats!
  5. Don't do it...
  6. fuckin a bubba!
  7. i think he is the 3rd dual threat in the 247 composite rankings so im not sure why you are acting like what i said was a gross exaggeration. but whatever. what i meant is he is the best QB i have seen in that class. i havent seen all of them and did not flatly claim is the best. but yeah i think he is up there and going by his ranking and Texas's belief in him, I dont think i am far off if at all. he has a good arm. stronger than charlie brewer but not quite as strong as baldwin or gilbert. probably similar to mayfield.
  8. Got it. I disagree on the body type and havent paid attention to his hands. His body is that of an athlete, nothing like Case McCoy at all. He runs a legit 4.6 40, and low 4 sec shuttles. Kid is sudden with a really good arm. If you have ever seen his family, you wouldnt worry about adding weight. Father and brother are pretty thickly built. He is lean but wiry right now but he is exactly what I want a Jr Qb who relies on quickness and speed to look like at this age. As for the QB1 vs QB2 talk, I can tall you that in a long line of LT QBs, Card is regarded by the LT coaching staff to be in the top 3 best QB talents to ever wear the LT helmet. If there is a better QB in the 2020 class, I havent seen him. The best thing I can tell you about Card is the kid loves to compete. He doesnt shy away from the big stage nor is intimidated by it. He looked bad against Westlake and Northshore because the LT o-line was dogshit this year. If you want to see how good he can be, go watch the Judson playoff game. He isnt worried about competing against Roschon or any other QB in the 2020 or 2021 classes. And Herman LOVES Card. Herman and staff believe Card is the real deal and are extremely happy to have him onboard.
  9. Honest question, what do you think are his limiting physical attributes?
  10. Herman and Beck were at LT today checking in on Card and a few other players. Herman spent a few hours with Carter and Stein relationship building.
  11. Has anyone ever stopped into Peju's? We went a few years ago and really enjoyed the intimate setting. Great wine and even better experience.
  12. We did Bryce Canyon and Zion this past summer. We camped at both. But there are plenty of lodging choices inside and right outside the parks. I think Angel's Landing is closed for the foreseeable future. It was destroyed in a rock slide this past summer. Great hikes all around and two really wonderful parks. Zion larger, more like Grand Canyon in feel. Bryce Canyon more intimate. We enjoyed both. Make sure to do the Ranger led night sky viewing at Bryce Canyon. It was great. We did the long hike at Bryce, it was awesome. And the longest one at Zion. It was incredible. We also did the Narrows at Zion. It was really unique hike.
  13. Finished the Alchemist (loved it), then read Fahrenheit 451 (couldnt put it down), and now reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and The Call of the Wild by Jack London.
  14. our oldest son leaves for a semester in Paris next week. we are planning a trip for 8 days in Paris in March for his birthday and our anniversary. I will review this thread for ideas but suggestions would be appreciated! And thank you PW for not only your work in Trading Places but also the trip diary. outstanding!
  15. Bru is not coming to Texas.
  16. yeah i do. i think he will start at RT next year and then LT the following. He has a good frame and is expected to get bigger. his brother is 6'8 330 lbs and was at IMG for a while but went back to El Paso this past season. i dont think Judge will be that big. he is 6'2+ 215 ish now but i wouldnt be surprised if he wound up 6'5 260 ish. Good feet and feel for the position. he did well for a soph on varsity this past season. that was a tough assignment but he worked hard and by season's end was doing a really nice job. needs to get a lot stronger. i think his college prospects will be governed by his size. if he gets 6'5 250ish then i think he is looking at P5/Texas type offers.
  17. SMU, Penn, Princeton, Colorado School of Mines, and a few others I can't remember. He was pretty set on going to UT one way or the other.
  18. he was Lake Travis's LT the past two seasons. He is 6'3 ish and 270+. he projects to guard or center. good feet. nice technique. smart, hard worker. good strength but really needs to get a lot stronger moving forward. he is a big tough kid. he should be able to get to 300 pretty easily. his dad is a big dude too. i expected him to go to Rice or SMU or Houston and contribute after a few seasons in the SC program. i have coached him in baseball and football since he was in 1st grade. great kid. loves the Longhorns. accepted the PWO over smaller school scholarship offers. i expect him to offer depth at center or guard. he is also a long snapper.
  19. NS was really good. LT was down on OL and DL this year. Next year should be better. I have seen a lot of really good running backs play against LT (Jonathan Gray, Malcom Brown, Kyle Porter, Deondrick Glass, Perine, the back from Allen, Judson's back, etc) and none are close to Evans. Kid is the best HS running back i have seen in a long time.
  20. is this where i say that i couldnt say my real thoughts in this thread? because everyone would realize i have fallen for Mahomes? how the heck did you turn me into Kelly McGillis? i want the truth! no, wait. wrong movie. i am excited for KC and Mahomes. i love Texas QBs experiencing success in the pros. and i love the spread offense following along with them.
  21. but his recklessness got Goose kilt. steady iceman never made any mistakes, and never killed his RIO. do you really want to see Travis Kelce die because of Mahomes' recklessness?
  22. it was a great play. i think Favre is another fair comparison. im not a fan of either.
  23. whoa. jeff fisher? too far man, too far.
  24. did you even read what i wrote? QBs use their eyes to influence defenders. but once the defender has been held by the QB's eyes, he should then turn to his target and make his throw, not make a no-look pass. the risk-reward with this kind of play isnt even up for debate. mahomes pulled it off. and it was an exciting play. but it is not what QBs are taught nor what they should do.
  25. i will give it a look.
