I’ve never seen biscuits served with chili. In Iowa it was always cinnamon rolls and they’re intended to be a complimentary desert.
Complimentary?
Desert?

I don't know shit about shit, but feel like the voucher thing could be the final straw that swings the state blue.
Spare me the "It's about time" sermons. This is just pure bullshit though. If we as a society decide to just leave them behind, then why fund any of it? We (some) don't care about the betterment of our youth any more. We(some) are just here to get ours... and "Fuck those brown people."
It makes me ragey.

It was pretty good. The two starters we got (arancini and the whipped ricotta with grilled zucchini) were outstanding, my wife loved the salad (I enjoyed it but the dressing wasn’t my favorite) and she got the butternut squash ravioli in sage butter sauce. That was excellent. I was not overly happy with my bolognese tagliatelle. The server talked me out of the special that was clams with linguine in a butter sauce. Wish I’d gotten the special. The almond flour cake dessert was good as well. I did have two of the best Negronis that I’ve ever had anywhere. Fun spot. I’d like to go back with another couple to try more stuff.
This was kind of my take on it. Pretty good. It's not Lucia, but represented a much better value than, say, Carbone (which is ridiculous and absolutely not worth the $). I'd go back, and enjoyed the meal, but wasn't overwhelmed.

I'm generally an EV supporter, but this is definitely an issue. In cold climates, see the battery problems above. Also, see the drain on the battery from running the heater, which you will want to do when it's super cold outside. And in hot climates, running the car's AC is a big drain on power. We have family members with an EV in Tucson. While it has a purported range of something like 200 miles, for 8 months of the year (when they need to run the AC in the brutal heat), it's more like 90 miles on a full charge. Fine for a daily commuter, which is what they use it for. But not viable for a long drive. Not even viable for a day trip to Phoenix, really.
My BMW i3 definitely does not have as much range this week as usual. But it holds its charge just fine.

Anyone have any good rec's for the South SF area? Heading out to Cal Club for a weekend golf trip on Saturday and need a place for dinner Sunday night. No food service on site Sunday and don't want to go all the way into the city if at all possible.

Figured it was just a nod to season one. That six-pack of tallboys ("nothing fancy") was like another character.
It is most definitely a nod to season 1. There are tons of easter eggs in the episode. I read an article yesterday pointing out many of them, such as the fake quote at the opening screen of the episode, the kid named "Darwin", and several others I can't recall.
ETA I think one of these is the article:

Again, it depends on what we are talking about. Texas is NOT a top-5 program. By any measure.
Agreed.
QuoteBut you could argue that we are a top-5 JOB. When Barnes was at his peak, there were rumors he was a candidate at Kentucky. He stayed put. We hired Shaka when he was the hottest coach in the country. We hired Beard from an in-state "rival" when he was a year removed from a title appearance. And all of that was without the Moody Center, NIL or the transfer portal really rolling.
I think you could argue it, but I'd still probably disagree.
Kansas
UNC
Kentucky
Duke
Florida
UCLA
UConn
Michigan State
I think all of the above would or could be considered "better" jobs at least based on prestige. Hell, I might even argue Louisville, Syracuse, or Villanova rank higher in that regard. Does Texas rank with UF and UCLA? Probably, but in terms of prestige I'd have to give the nod to both of those schools over UT BB based on skins on the wall, even though UCLA's were 50 years ago. Money, quality of life, facilities, NIL resources? Sure, Texas has an embarrassment of riches in that regard, but I don't think anyone talking "top 5" jobs is really talking about that. (It's the prestige that gets you that moniker).

Jack Perkins is opening Maple & Motor #2 in far North Dallas. Anticipated opening is sometime in June. It will be located at 14885 Preston Road.
Somebody from the neighborhood seems to have got his panties in a wad over the long-time sign that Jack displays at the original M&M, the one that says "Nobody came here to hear your screaming children" and then directed people to visit The Purple Cow if the reader had noisy children in tow. Jack posted the back-and-forth with this fuckstick. Basically, the dude from neighborhood has challenged Jack to a game of "Try That in a
Small TownFar North Dallas Neighborhood". Here's their online discussion:Sisson is anti-abortion and same-sex marriage. Sounds like a peach of a person.

you can’t lose your entire recruiting class, you just can’t. maybe if it happened to bill self or tom izzo you say, “eh, shit happens”, but when you’re in rodney terry's position, signing the most important class of your life as you’ve been blessed with this miracle opportunity to be the HC at a top 5 job, you can’t lose your entire class to the pros. it’s a serious failure in recruiting, and at the worst possible time. you gotta bring in the right guys who fit your system, and they have to be bought in. our guys obviously weren’t bought in (and we have no system), and it’s really hurting this team. the buck stops with RT when it comes to his recruiting classes.
TIL that UT basketball is a top 5 job.

I mean…this. The navy is literally doing the exact thing that navies were created for. Against a legit, unarguably bad actor (trying to blow up civilian shipping is bad, and wrong, mmkay?).
Your last para is perfect. As stupid as blanket “American Exceptionalism” is, it’s in a passionate, kinky relationship with “Everything America Does is Evil-ism” - they share a perverse bond of stupidity.
What’s happening with the Houthis has nothing to do with Gaza, save and except as an excuse/pretext. All that it really is, is another example of Iran again sticking its dick in the global mashed potatoes to foment chaos. That’s it.The extreme right and left both suck.

plus all the science says you are contagious(often most contagious) BEFORE symptoms appear with all of these respiratory diseases. Not sure how to crack that fucking code.
On 1/12/2024 at 10:33 AM, Incredulity said:Exactly NO ONE has said don't stay home if you are symptomatic.
Some have said some people can't stay home due to fiscal or family reasons. Also, inconveniently for many who suffer from allergies the symptoms mirror respiratory illness and unfortunately mistakes can be made.
14 hours ago, Incredulity said:No one is implying, suggesting, promoting, promulgating, hinting or even insinuating that symptomatic people shouldn’t stay home.
Or we could just look at your first post above, which you posted in support of someone who was offering excuses why some might not stay home when they're sick. What possibly could be the inference drawn ? Oh, maybe that because you're more contagious before you are symptomatic it's okay if you don't stay home when you are? I dunno. Just spitballing.

Oh bullshit. If you flirt with and entice a married man, you’re not a victim when you’re on your knees willingly polishing his knob. I don’t care what the “power differential” was, one that exists in a million affairs going on every day. The fact is that a lot of men cheat on their wives with younger women. There’s a certain power dynamic to that which is on the pedestal, too. In the cases where the man leaves his wife and marries the young seductress, no one ever talks about how she was victimized and how he exploited his position of power over her. His ex-wife, her friends, and family, though, might fairly and accurately call her a home-wrecker.
You chase a married man, you’re no innocent. Period.
WhattheBuck'd.

And lol at the idea of Trump filing bankruptcy. His popularity hinges on the idea that he’s rich. He won’t give that up
Typically fraud judgments are not dischargeable in bankruptcy so there wouldn't be much point in him doing so.

What pisses me off is the implication from many who use the "you're most contagious before you're symptomatic" mantra that there's no point in staying home at all even if you're symptomatic.
If you have a fever or are coughing and feel like shit, STAY HOME. Even if you might have been contagious two days earlier, you're still contagious.
