Old Overholt is fine, and a helluva value. But for like eight dollars more, you can get Rittenhouse, which at 100 proof vs. old overholt's 80 proof holds up to dilution a little better and tastes fucking delicious.
Taste shouldn't be too different re: simple syrup vs. muddled sugar. I prefer the muddled sugar personally. I find that I enjoy a more traditional old fashioned to one that's been churched up with fancy liquors and/or bitters. sugar, angostura, couple of drops of water, ice, rye, stir, garnish with orange peel. it really doesn't need anything else.
Este.
I keep a bottle of Rittenhouse around just for my old fashioneds. Also, I'll toss in a couple of drops of orange bitters in addition to the Angostura. No need to muddle fruit and goddammit don't put club soda in my drink.

Haha, Homercles! That reminds me of one time I played at Preston Trail. Odd thing about that place is that their locker room and 19th hole are all one big area. They had a big buffet table right next to a bunch of lockers and some old dude was reaching across the table just like in your photo grabbing a cookie or something.
Uh, no thanks, I'll just order off the menu.

Mitchell Brothers Theater
I meant to come back and offer a serious response.
It's been several years since I've been to San Francisco, so take with a grain of salt. I've always enjoyed going to Tadich Grill. To me it's the Galatoire's of San Francisco. Other places (perhaps an alternative to Swan) is Hog Island Oyster in the Ferry Building.
For best food/service experience my last visit to Gary Danko was superb.

Not sure why I can't edit my post to type in my comments, so am adding them here.
Wolf Hall is great. Superb performances and an opportunity to see the main character from The Crown as Anne Boleyn. Mark Rylance is fantastic.

"Wolf Hall.” A masterfully written/acted/produced BBC/PBS series from Thomas Cromwell’s point of view. Can’t rec highly enough for historically-minded viewers.

I'm trying really hard not to picture you as a 7-year-old boy telling his Mom that his 4-year-old sister just used crayon all over the bedroom wall, but I just can't seem to pull that off.
Wifi appears to be working.

I can't get the delosdestinations.com page to load properly on Chrome. Not sure if that's an issue on my end or not.

Some cool stuff on the westworld website leading up to the new season.
Last season I signed up on the website and from time to time get email updates from "Delos" that have some easter eggs, etc. that made following the series even more enjoyable.

I need to hit that Latin Deli on NW Highway soon. Have yet to try a Cuban sandwich in Dallas that tastes like a real Cuban sandwich. Two big misses recently. One at a new latin place below my building downtown (horribly dry pork on shitty bread) and the other at Uncle Uber's today (tasty but not in any way a real Cuban sandwich).

What books would you like to see adapted to the screen?
I'd really like to see The Historian (epic Dracula novel) adapted. Apparently when it was originally published, Sony bought the rights. After doing some digging it appears that a screenplay may have been developed at some point over the last 10 years, but nothing appears to be in imminent development.

I loved it. I think it's a stand alone. I don't think they're doing any more seasons. It's based on a novel and I don' t believe there are any squeals.
It was promoted as a limited series, so I assumed it was a one shot deal. The final episode was a little bit of a let down with the tying up of loose ends and all, but overall I thought the series as a whole was pretty good.

It's called parenting, you son of a bitch.
Speaking from experience, the kids will grow up regardless of your parenting. How many opportunities will you have to attend another FJ or TX-OU invitational?

Harsh, man, harsh.
Not as harsh as choosing to skip the FJ invitational (or the inaugural TX-OU 2 day invitational).

Still have never broken par after all these years through 18 holes. Best 9 holes was -5 on the back 9 at Lakewood. Shot 45 on the front. Only other time I did something like that was at Las Colinas CC where I shot 50-35.
Not sure I can pinpoint a best round ever, but in recent memory the TX-OU two day invitational last fall has to rank pretty highly.
Texanbychoice losing his shoes and travel bag after about 3 pitchers of Frozen Deep Eddy's was a highlight of the event, for sure.

For every round I break 80 there will be two I play with the wife where I shoot 90. You will be giving me shots in no time.
