  1. My MIL has everything she orders online delivered to my house. She does this because about 20 years ago, she and my FIL moved to an acreage about 10 miles outside of the town where my wife grew up. This acreage's address was in a different ZIP code for a neighboring town. My in-laws both worked in the town where my wife grew up, so they kept a PO Box there as their chief mailing address. My MIL is convinced that the fact she has a PO Box in New Podunk, IA but has a street address in South Podunk, IA will confuse any parcel services and lead to undelivered packages. While she was still working, she had all her packages delivered to her office (which is in the town where they have the PO Box). Rather than just change their address completely to the place they've lived since 2006, she started having packages delivered to our house. My wife works in her hometown, so every day my MIL drives into town (a 20 mile round trip) to get packages out of my wife's car. One time we were out of town in the dead of winter and she ordered something that could freeze and be damaged. I had to call a buddy to stop by my house and drag it into a warm space. All because she's convinced that if she orders packages to the place she actually lives and has actually lived for nearly 20 years they won't arrive.
  2. Big one in Ames tonight.
  3. But I do honestly/earnestly think McCollum could really succeed with high major resources. He's been a Midwest lifer at this stage, but the guy has an eye for talent and can get a roster to work well together. I don't know if UT fans feel like a good year in the MVC after a DII run is enough of a track record, but I think he'd do well in Austin. Plus (and this is my chief motivator if I'm being honest) it keeps him out of Iowa City or Manhattan or Lincoln or Minneapolis or some place where he'd be recruiting against us with some actual resources. If Otz actually did leave, he would be at the top of my preferred replacement list (after making a run at DeVries of course).
  4. I'm a big fan of Athletic. I rarely drink on weeknights, so it tides me over till the weekend. Or when I want a road beer and don't want to get in trouble for it.
  5. Two things can be true: 1) The Vikings wildly exceeded expectations this season. 2) They completely stepped on their dicks the last two weeks in a fashion that has been typical of this franchise for it's entire fucking existence regardless of coaching, players, or management. Signed, a lifelong suffering moron who picked the closest NFL team instead of the second closest NFL team to their home town.
  6. Prepare your anus, because we all know it's coming.
  7. I'll believe that KC doesn't win it all when it actually happens. I've got Chiefs over Eagles. The Lions will choke. They always do.
  8. No. I’d eat a shoe if TJ left for Texas. Your job opening up this spring doesn’t concern me. I’m also a Drake alum, and have been very impressed with what McCollum has done thus far. He’s not staying at a mid major long, and what I really don’t want is Iowa to hire him. I’d much rather he go out of the Midwest.
  9. IMO, Facebook has done more than any thing else to create the nightmare we're living in. This political climate does not exist without Facebook.
  10. Whatever high major gets McCollum will be very pleased with him
  11. This has been northeast Iowa, minus the "damp" part. It's going to be 40 on Friday, and -4 (for the high) a week from today. Fun, fun stuff. And of course, there isn't any fucking snow so all this is doing is driving the frost line deeper and deeper so all the roads are going to be a god damn disaster come March.
  12. Hell of a win. Tech has a legit squad.
  13. Tech won this game by converting FTs.. The little things matter. Congrats Matadors.
  14. This is what I imagine playing in Hilton feels like to the rest of the league
  15. Lubbock’s a motherfucker
  16. Sobriety hasn’t hit the Midwest, and I’m not holding my breath that it will.
  17. Ten Wasp Brewing, Sumner, Iowa. A fucking gem in the middle of nowhere.
  18. I think this pile of shit is the laziest songwriting I've ever seen. Like, if you want to cover a song, just cover it. Even if you are crediting the original writers and they're getting their cut, why does this thing need to exist?
  19. Hopefully it keeps Tech fans out of United Supermarket tomorrow.
  20. I love pilsners. The hazy IPA recipes are pretty similar. The difference is all the varieties of hops. There are also quite a few different grain bills for other styles of IPAs. West Coast IPAs don’t really taste like hazy New England ones.
  21. I'm not sure what you mean by "up north" but studded tires and chains are rarely used around here. Snow tires are common, but that's just a different tread profile.
  22. The worst part of driving in snow is not being able to see the lanes or the edges of the road. Unless it's really wet and slushy, it doesn't toss the vehicle around much. You guys are lucky that the ditches never fill up enough to make it impossible to discern where the shoulder drops off.
